Like maybe have them realize that they were going separate ways and their careers were clashing with their personal lives and relationship with Ben being the protector of Earth and Julie's tennis career taking off. They could have had it where Ben and Julie broke things off amicably but stayed friends.

After all, Kay Greene broke up with Ben because of a stupid reason. This shows that she does not love him at all. Writer, I hope to meet you one day so that I can crush you, you idiot. Ben and kai is the best couple they go way back and it's not the usual predictable ships either but she was his first crush and even if she didn't like him back then somthing was always there he even see her in his dream created by the forever knights which wasn't intentional but was because of his deep feeling for her. Even after not seeing each other for years they had this tention whenever they were together. I liked Julie over everyone else but ben kinda fucked it up with her instead of giving her the attention he acted like an immature prick and in the Omniverse we get to know julie a bit more and can clearly see that it was better that they broke up... Considering her personality and different careers Ben and kai is just perfect because of so many things and also because of their plumber family or background or whatever and even if it's not an obvious pairing it just happened naturally and both of em accepted their feelings towards eachother

Ben and julie wasn't that perfect either and plus she doesnt have much personality like kai does. The writters fail to make julie a character in the show than just being a side character ben and Julie's relationship. Ben being a jerk most of the time it was best for them to break up.
