Thank you for your open and honest comments. My wife has just changed her VW TRoc for a 10 year old Range Rover Evoque and is delighted with it, so listening to your experience has been very helpful.

Lovely cars, had the 2 previous models over 16 years but glad I’m not an owner anymore. Didn’t want to leave mine on my sister’s drive whilst on holiday in case thieves tried to get into the house and it’s crap having to think that way. Even had wing mirrors stolen at £300+ each! Some people think that living in a “nice area” makes them exempt from theft and expect lower insurance but that’s not always the case. Now they’re going after the 2023 models! But after all that doom and gloom I think they’re great cars, reliability can be an issue but a big factor is how well the previous owners maintained the car.

Less than a grand (Police Mutual) for a standard straight out of the factory 2019 RRS fully comp. Live just outside Preston, Lancashire and think that premiums are coming down. It might, I say might be a corner turner as market values of the RRS's are going very slowly up. Not sure it will continue so fingers crossed.

Thanks for this review. You have raised some good points. I note the issue about altering your insurance specification. All insurance companies share data, therefore if you raise a risk with one company and then delete to another, it is highly probable that will be highlighted.
I own a 23 Sport D350. Just had my renewal at £758. That is with Admiral, living in West Wales.
My second JLR, first was a 69 plate Velar p300 HSE. Contrary to most posted comments I have enjoyed trouble free driving for nearly 5 years. Only issues have been security and other minor recalls.
My previous experiences with BMW and Mini have NOT been so good.😮

I have a Velar Dynamic and was absolutely dreading my renewal coming in to the point of being ready to get rid of it. Your very right it is a post code lottery and my renewal came in at £600 which is less than I paid last year much to my surprise which is awesome as I love the Car. So yes it is possible to insure RR models, don’t believe all the negative RR scaremongering or RR brand hater’s out there. Thanks for your honesty look forward to further material 🤔

Great post, thanks. I got quoted £2700 fully comp, 40 years driving, 20+ years NCB living in London. I was told it was because they always get stolen. So I asked for a quote Third party only and was quoted £2,500!!!! Proving it has very little to do with theft. The insurance companies are doing what the energy and food industry is doing. Profiteering. Maximising profits because they have us cornered.

Things are the same on 28th April 2024. For a 2016 RR Sport it seems to be 1.1k, so expensive but still doable and there were a lot in the 1k to 1.3k, for a quote that is " car kept on the drive, full NCD no tracker or dash cam, and just outside London but still inside the M25".

My daughter in London has just received her renewal premium for her 2016 RRSport for £28,440. She has 19 years NCB but 2 recent no fault claims (second was for theft, but was retrieved in a few days from a local car park by the Met). She has 2 current motorway speeding fines, 6 points. She is parking the car up and getting a company car instead. Any advice !

Can I just say what an upgrade from the Bmw , such great looking motor inside and out and probably a lot more comfortable then the Bmw, dont get me wrong I owned a Bmw 1 series just a 1.5 diesel and the the fuel economy was brilliant esp on long journeys but feel like the UK roads are getting worse either full of pot holes or full of road works making driving on them uncomfortable or damaging to most cars, also felt the Bmw every time I got out kept banging me knees on the steering wheel ( share with the wife and she is small so seat was full height and couldn't be bothered to adjust it lower lol ) so wanted a 4x4 to take all the bumps etc and not damage my low profile tyres and damage the wheels , low profiles are great for summer driving for handling but after a Merc and Bmw was annoyed by the damage , yes I know stay away from the curbs but sometimes just the potholes would cause it too. Unlike you we went with the evoque ( dont laugh my wife's only 4ft 11 inch lol so wanted to slowly build her up to bigger/higher cars bit by bit and now she loves it ) my next one maybe the sport or the velar , would love a defender but too pricey. When you mentioned £1000 I thought maybe a bit more but I have found most peoples insurance went up by nearly double so for me the price you are paying is pretty good for an expensive/was car

Thanks for the feedback pal! It’s a welcome and nice change for sure, the BMW was excellent, but we needed a bigger car and I do love these, so comfy, smooth and quiet, it’s a proper “go anywhere, anywhen” car. Hope you get what you want and thanks so much for watching and commenting 👍

I've actually had a quote for less than my Citroen Relay. Not by much but about £20 less than my van's insurance.
Wasn't the Sport, don't know if that makes a huge difference.

Straight talking honest video,, l have owed a RR sports for a few years now, Best car for comfort, speed & safety, that l have ever owed or driven, The only downside is finding a good parking space in town? £1,100 a year is about average regarding insurance,,,,,,

Just recently traded in my 2015 Autobiography sport. Insurance wasn’t due until June, but with prices plummeting didn’t want to be lumbered with a car in a heavily saturated second hand market. After the recent fiasco from JLR regarding thefts, I will never own another Land Rover

  • @markbuhler5721

I had a 2015 RR sport from new, lovely car, under £500 to insure moved on to a full size RR autobiography in 2018 and around £800 . 2023 collected my new RR HSE new shape hybrid, probably the best car ever, insurance £2,800. End of March my renewal coming up , 😫 current insurance want £10k , Landrover insurance almost reasonable at £6k ! Nightmare, been loyal to the brand for over 20 years . Live in Ealing West London, electric gates, steering lock. Happily get a Ghost system if it made my premium more sensible. UK born in my 50’s not convictions long protected claim bonus. Crazy when will it end ?

I had a RR sport autobiography 2013 plate 3 years ago tax £397 Insurance £507 I sold it through personal reasons and bought a discovery 5 sport 2016. Cheap to tax and insure. Now with this insurance scam on RR sport's I have been watching them and prices have been plummeting and i found a 16 plate HSE with a few extras and 47000 miles for way less than 20,000 £9500 less than i paid for the 13 plate 3 years ago. I checked the insurance quotes before making commitment . I bought this vehicle and £514 to insure. If you sign up to car gurus They are in association with a insurance comparison site and were the cheapest quotes. Another tip for owners. You can disable the keyless entry Which eliminates them scanning the codes. I have the Ghost immobiliser already fitted to my new purchase and no one can start the car without a code. Happy RR ownership

I'm also with Esure. £1400 for a 2019 RRS HSE. Esure are owned by Admiral. A few weeks ago I did a comparison to check and funny enough Admiral came back cheapest at £900. Just make sure you renew a good month before your due date 👍
