Thank you for this video, it was very timely for me. I plan on making soap this week. I wanted to use oat milk that I made myself and I was wondering if I should treat it as a milk and put it in the refrigerator or cover it with a cloth. I haven't been able to find much out about that. Also what are the benefits of gel phase, what does it do for the soap?

You're welcome! I've never used oat milk in my soap recipes but I checked several resources and they all say that it's interchangeable with cow's milk or goat's milk in cold process soap. This sounds wonderful, please lmk how it turns out! I would definitely treat it as a milk and freeze or refrigerate it to keep it from scorching in the lye solution. Soaps that go through gel phase get harder faster so can typically be un-molded sooner. Also, it allows natural colorants to show up more brightly and the bars may be a little shinier but it's not necessary, just depends on the final result you are looking for. Have fun and if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask!

Plz teach beginners to use percentages, water:lye ratios, and how to size the batch to their mild. Also may I suggest getting noise-canceling equipment as it is very difficult to hear you

Hi, I’m so sorry about the background noise. We are full timing on our RV atm and when I filmed it was very hot outside and all 3 of my overhead AC units were running. I’m on my 4th microphone currently trying to figure it out and will keep working on it. Thanks for your feedback, I can definitely go over percentages in my next soaping video. This one was much longer than I originally intended so I didn’t cover everything that I would have liked to. 😊

@@madeinthelowcountry I understand about the need to run the AC. I would love to travel in an RV, see the country AND enjoy our craft at the same time. Good luck on your channel!
