Colt inspired so many local athletes. I would suggest that the state championship trophy be named the Brennan Trophy

Never understand why Washington didnt give him a chance. He had the highest completion % of all QBs at the combine. But he was damaged goods, because of prior head injuries and at that time, there were doubts about his sidearm.

Cause Washington had drafted Jason Campbell from Auburn that same year who was from a bigger school in the SEC, was also 6’5 and a higher draft pick. Colt was never gonna get a fair shot against that unfortunately. Dude did ball out in preseason though.

IIRC he was expected to compete for 2nd string or even come for Campbells playing time in 2009, he got hurt a few times and ended up on injured reserve which means he was basically out for the year. 2009 was supposed to be the year he took that next step, but injuries got in the way. The very next year, 2010 is the year he got into the accident. His window was short and injuries effectively closed that window shut. It's shame, like someone earlier said, he balled out in the preseason of 2008. He was nicknamed the Cult of Colt in Washington fan circles. He seemed to be insanely likable and talented. He will be missed.

If you look at mostly all major college teams now, they almost all run a similar spread offense. If you look at all major NFL teams, they run something similar. Mel Kiper and those during Colt's days were quick to criticize him and say he was a "system" QB. Well guess which systems he would be playing in now? 70+% completion rate for his career from high school, college, pros. If the ball is getting to the receiver every 7 out of 10 tries, the chains are moving. People forget that he played on a team with no 3, 4 or 5 star recruits and was playing against teams who were stacked with them. If you look at how this offense would work if he was loaded with the same quality of athletes, look at those major college teams and NFL teams today. People use the Georgia game as a criticism, but yet, like I said, give him the same quality of players, it would have been a rout by UH on many teams in major conferences.

Such a good point. Look at those tight windows he’s getting the ball in to make completions. And it’s not his fault he’s getting hammered by the Georgia pass rushers. How did the game of football change from the side arm being absolutely unacceptable and bad mechanics and now it’s what all the scouts want (Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford). I think NFL scouts are deeply flawed and are too quick to follow the modern trends. And then colt was criticized for being too skinny? Now the NFL is drafting 5’9 kyler Murray with the #1 overall pick. These things are just insane to me and how colt was overlooked.

Watching this and realizing that Colt's cousin Brent Brennan is the head Coach of San Jose State, and a blend of Chevan Cordiero's "marksmanship" (he DOES THROW to his target!!), its was supposed to be a win!! I think on 10/28/23, at UH Stadium, Colt's spirit was there......perhaps Chevan didn't know it or feel it.......but it WAS!!!

if you watched the game between San Jose State and UH on 10/28/23, you would replay the good times when UH actually WON GAMES!!!
