To be fair, D4 was built with hardcore in mind and it doesnt work either.

@@akhsdenlew1861 The priest probably did this because he doesnt want to use keybinds. To heal a clicker like him would have to click the party frame to chose the target and then the spell in his bar which would take too much time. So he made the clickable spell for every party member which lets him "skip" the party frame clicking. But its obviously still not enough (and too restircitng and time wasting) so he went back to where he belongs until he learns how to use binds. Its pretty interesting if you think about how he spend time to make that bullshit UI while it takes like 10 mins to learn just 5 spells on your keyboard which in turn would have made this situation 100 times easier and probably also could have safed their wipe. Why these ppl dont bind at least the most used spells to 1-5 is just beyond me...
@@Imboz Yeah, I think he was using arrow keys to turn or something. His playstyle is way to awkward to be playing any sort of hardcore. That UI was dogshit vs just keybinding, but to each their own.
Why on Earth does a game where threat is probably the most important thing to know in dungeons and raids, not have a threat meter built into it? Probably the most bizarre thing about WOW.
Honestly, it was never needed in classic. I quit right before Burning Crusade, but I'm pretty sure it didn't even exist back then. You learned the mechanics and watched greedy idiots die due to DPS meters.

DPS JOB: Do damage, Don't pull threat.
Tank Job: Pick up Adds, Don't Die, Keep the Healer Safe, Do your best to hold threat.
Healer Job: Keep the tank alive, Keep the healer alive, keep the DPS alive, Do damage.
Your job as DPS is the easiest thing. The simplest. And while a threat meter is helpful, it's not strictly necessary to avoid pulling agro. For mobs you have a simple rule (mostly for warrior tanks, but if it's vanilla... lets be real, you have a warrior tank for most end game content):
1. Set the Tank as Focus
2. Wait Three Seconds.
3. Target the Tanks Target (made easy with the focus set, and target of target showing)
It's not difficult. And it is ABSOLUTELY playing the character to the maximum - just not in the way you think. Because it's about the TEAM, not about YOU. DPS charts and gear score are some of the worst things to shove into a team environment game: But lets be real - we all love em, and we all love seeing us top those charts, or figure out how we can increase our damage output. But at the end of the day - topping the charts, pulling threat, and dying doesn't help the group achieve the TEAM objective.
@@bigweeweehaver Considering most of the threat problems come from trying to ignore the few mechanics that do exist in classic? Yes, going apeshit with damage at the wrong time, or as you put it "playing their spec to the fullest" is indeed greed.
Just because your Porsche can go to 200 mph doesn't mean you can just floor it anytime, anywhere without consequences. The same thing applied to wow raids back in the day. Know your limits, the tank's limits, the raid mechanics, and adjust accordingly. That is playing the class to the fullest.

How I would have dealt with the "I got stuck" gnome mage:
1) Don't play a gnome
2) I would have polymorphed the spider 18 times in a row from a nice far-away spot where more spiders couldn't aggro and then hearthed on the 19th Poly.
I love seeing the various reactions to people losing a character.
You got people that just go "...damn.' when losing a level 50+ char, and then you got guys like 8:12 pulling out the Vader-tier NOOOOO when losing a lv22 character lmao

19:15 it's me!! It was just a late long night, AQ20 clear into Onyxia then a full ZG clear, this was the last boss of the night and I was tired and my head wasn't in the game and I was not fully committed! gg

The 20 second logout thing is only if you have started the logout timer with /camp but you can’t do that in combat. If you alt f4 it takes until the server times you out
I have tested this and it took exactly 50 seconds every time for the server to push a character offline if they alt-F4'd.
I think Asmon is wrong about the correct course of action in that "stuck Gnome vs. Spider" situation.
Just polymorphing + alt F4 would not save him. There are only two solutions:
a) keep the spider polymorphed, use first aid and spam "/y HELP! I'm about to die, please someone help!" - or something like that. And hope another player is nearby and willing to help.
or
b) keep the spider polymorphed for literally 18 minutes, use first aid and survive until hearthstone is available.

Rogue death was from the fact he crit 3 times right when the stomp happened. Two auto's and his evis for over 2.3k dmg in one global. Boss didnt take that kindly on aggro drop and fucked him up.
So, it kind of was his fault for not having a threat meter and doing high damage output during an aggro drop. Dang.
Still unlucky to a certain extent that he resisted the knockback and I wonder, if the could have tanked him in a different spot where only the (melee) dps get knocked back while the tank has his back against the wall and so he doesn't get knocked away from the boss.
...Not sure you really need a threat meter if you know that Knockback is going to do a Threat Dump, because it's only logical that one of the Melee DPS is most likely to gain aggro: The solution would be to stop dps (including auto-attack) &/or get out of melee range: Be patient & cautious for those 2 to 4 seconds, then get back to it.

One thing I do to keep myself sane is I send most of my money to a bank along with decent gear that I outlevel, so if I need to go again I still have money and don't need to worry about gear, makes it way easier to get back up if you constantly have good gear and money
Yeah, having bank alts turns it almost into a roguelight, where you still amass resources across deaths. Pretty interesting.

The warrior death in Silithus was extremely painful to watch. I'm sure he could've easily just ran or fought, but instead just kept resetting the aggro timer and taking constant damage

@@TudorSicaru Guy streamed his whole trek up to that level so no he didnt boost. Later on he talked about it and said that he didnt know piercing howl leashes and at some point (when he started hitting the mob with attacks again) he just assumed it cant be deaggroed because its a quest mob (and he didnt know the quest at all)
I love that he had one mob respawn in its predecessors death spot and assumed it was some invincible unleashing god of a mob destined to kill him. He could have just EASILY killed it, but chose to kite it across the entire map making sure to tag it every few seconds with shouts or attacks to keep it in combat.

It looked like he wanted to play extra safe and not risk anything, so he decided to better run and let it reset, rather than fighting a second mob he didn't intent to fight.
But since the little bugger didn't want to let go and he was so focused on his plan to reset the mob, time (and hp) was going by to the point where he didn't feel confident anymore to switch tactics and fight it.
And since he already invested so much time in making the mob reset, he probably felt even more compelled to stick to the original plan, like "it HAS to reset at some point now, after I have been running and trying to get away for that long!" buuuuuut.... nope.
Kind of like the gamblers fallacy. "I sank so much money into the slot machine without winning, the next one surely will be a win!" until all the money is gone.
what they ought to have for hardcore is a hometown cemetery for each race and when a players character dies it adds another gravestone marker with that character's name and level at death in it to commemerate their life - maybe once you hit level 20+ to keep people from creating level one's and flooding the cemetary with gravestones.

Its a slow buildup. One thing leads to another and you're in the water. Dying is crazy and prob the best part of hardcore since its such a rush.

at 20:10 he coulda had ice barrier up going into the the knockup, followed by another barrier, health pot, or iceblock. He didn't do any of those when the mechanic is being called out for him.

More context on that first Mak'gora: They were supposed to Mak'gora earlier in the day, but Altuss ran away like a pussy, leaving so many people high and dry who came to watch the duel. So we did Deadmines with strongfast and Altuss confronted him at the end, told him to remove all his buffs and he'd do the duel to the death.

I feel like the reason why some ppl die like that at high level and just go straight back to elwynn forest is the same reason ppl will queue up for a 70min long league game loss and queue up again once the match ends.
The way I see it, if I died due to my own ineptitude then I have no cause to be angry.

Playing hardcore you need spare character so you could send him money and resources every few lvls in case when your first one dies 😁 always have a backup plan to make your future self life easier

how does it work in classic? cause prior the im stuck button being deleted on retail, it just killed you if your hearthstone was on cooldown (i miss it)

12:31 that mage didn't use his ice armor at all (armor is severely underrated plus the atk speed slow it would infect the spider with), had a potion plus a bomb to stun so he could back up and nova it in place to get a free cast or two off. Died to panic imo.

I would’ve went there too. They do not have an assigned spot, but what they do have is positioning. You have to stay X amount away from the next person and the fact is, he went next to people instead of just taking that open space like you mentioned.
I dont understand how raids are even possible in hardcore... like how do you do any raid without 1 wipe, or multiple people dying?

Lost three 40+ characters. all due missing focus. Bought 2 months of game time a month ago but never get up to play again. Its still awesome, but BTD6 got me bad in the steam sale.
thats why rogues in classic normaly uses feint and vanish in there rota xD...the mage with the spider , gosh ... he already killed it , no manashield uses ,than tries like 30 sec for a target dummy , than panic sheep , which heals mob to 100%...and i thought by myself , go and fking kill it , its just ONE SINGLE NON ELITE MOB....gamers those days...everyone one the rush , no time for brain or safety
That knock back is actually fucked. If you are ice blocked on a mage it still knocks you and damaged you. I think the fap probably would work just as good as the ice block

Asmon, the game is actually fun without all of the cheat codes.
here is what i think of z axis: if you can hit the mob with auto attack, either melee or range or magic whatever as long its auto attack and not ability, then its fine if mob can hit you, cause it gives you at least the fighting chance, i would give melee permission to use abilities but not for range/magic cause they have actually mentioned distance. but if you cant hit the mob with melee abilities including auto-attack or purely auto attack on range or mage, then its total bs and should not be in the game.

TO BE FAIR there really isn't a precedent for mobs doing so much damage to you just for hitting them. Outside of like lightning shields. And not being able to see any debuff indicating such makes it that much easier to just kill yourself. Game's definitely not designed for hardcore play lul.
