Like you said the Oilers have been tearing things up and winning so much. Every team has a stinker once in a while so this is nothing to worry about. They’ll just have to keep their heads up and Stu needs to make sure this doesn’t rattle him. He’s been lights out lately and goalies will have stinker games every so often.
Don’t know yet if you talk about this in the video I’m half way through. I would’ve loved some saves by Stu but my god Austin man the defence on the first 4 goals was so horrific, any nhl goal tender could’ve gotten scored on, every goal but the first was a WIDE OPEN SLOT CHANCE. Horrible. You definitely jinxed him though lol
If they win Saturday that's 6 points of 8 possible on the 4 game road trip which is still really good. Obviously this game you want to be better but still.
Now this one is on Stu. Those few goals at the beginning needed to be saved. The jinx happened for real lol Austin. He zoned in the middle till the end of the game, at that point its too late. I know Stu is a slow starter, but my god this was bad. He needs to address this right now.
The Oilers lost every single puck in their own zone, with zero defensive coverage. Putting those goals squarely on Skinner is unfair. The fact that Skinner buckled down and didn't melt down speaks volumes about him.
@@aanlerya but thats the time when your goalie needs to come up huge. And call a time-out too so the defense and offense regroups. Letting in 5 goals kinda is a meltdown. You gotta have SOME saves. Most of those goals could have been saved. You know, 2021 habs also lost pucks in the defensive zone during the playoffs and carey priced saved them several times. A good goalie can get you to the finals. Just gotta have those saves. Though this isnt the playoffs. If skinner does this during the playoffs then its going to be difficult. Yes the defense is partly to blame, but sometimes you just need a save. Skinner doesn't give that reliability currently.
It is what it is, Stu is inconsistent over the course of a season. He’ll have good stretches and bad stretches and that’s why he’s league average. The great goalies are separated because they’re consistently above average. The team will live and die depending on how he plays and that’s just how it it’s going to be because he’s not being upgraded no matter what. I would be interested to know if there is a league wide stat that tells us if certain goalies have a tendency to let goals in at high rates within their first 5-8 shots faced. Does Hellebuyck or Hill have a .995 to .998 save percentage on the first 5 compared to another at .950 or below etc. I believe having to dig yourself out of an early hole is taxing on the entire team especially for an oilers team that does not give up a ton of shot volume
I will also be at the kings game on the 13th with my family, as my Dad got us tickets for Christmas. I wouldn't mind meeting up beforehand. I agree with this review. Not worried about the team or Stu here. Last time Stu had a stinker game like this he turned it around next game or two instead of a 5 game streak like last year, so I'm not worried.
I decided it could be worse. Vegas got dog walked in their game tonight. So at least Edmonton was able to get 3 goals in. Lol. Oh and they still scored more than minnesota
You didn’t jinx Stu. The defensive zone coverage was nonexistent. Those Pittsburgh players were more wide open than a barn door. The Penguins were desperate and, if it wasn’t for their goalie, they’d have pissed away that 4 goal lead. Oilers need to rebound against Chicago. I believe they lost to them last time they played.
Hey Austin Here's My Question Witch Trade Targets Should EDM go after around mid Deadline Day & are any Prospects gonna have recalls for some regular season matchups? (Ex Savoie or Philp) P.S Matthew Tkachuk card looks cool but Oil Country hates him still lol 😂

DO NOT LOSE FAITH IN STU 🗣️🗣️
my question for video: WHY DOES EVERY GOALIE WE PLAY AGAINST STAND ON THEIR LITERAL HEAD AND BECOME A LITERAL WALL
At least they didn’t give up, so _yaaaaay_

Neddy had a ridiculous game. He robbed like 3 sure goals. Phenomenal game from him.
How did draisatl not get a hattyyyy lol rob after rob then a goal line save by the defence he deserves a hattyyy!!

@@aanlerthe entire team and coaching staff is to blame.
@@aanlerThen how did the pens win if the Oilers had double the shots?
@milanek1527 Exactly, singling out Skinner for a team-wide failing is unfair.

We lost the game in the 1st
Stu must’ve thought it was dodgeball practice or something 😭
This game is a prime example of a goaltender not giving their team a chance to win😔
A prime example of a team saying "Goalie, you're on your own tonight"
I decided it could be worse. Vegas got dog walked in their game tonight. So at least Edmonton was able to get 3 goals in. Lol.

We have a #1 goalie.
