That wasn't the original ending for the film. The film originally ends fading to white when Jay & Seth are going to Heaven, but test audiences hated that they never showed what Heaven looked like. So, Seth & Evan rewrote the ending, got Jay & Craig to return for it, & having the Backstreet Boys appear was a last minute decision that made it so much better.
@@CortexNewsService In all fairness, he might be trying to straighten out his public image lmao. He gets picked for those movies he is typically in because he can act and has good looks. Im willing to bet he is more goofy then he is like in this romantic dramas or war/sports stuff he is in.
@@armpit_farts7327 from what I've seen of him where he isn't in a role, he is absolutely goofier and more playful. See his lipsync battle where he did Beyonce 's "Girls" WITH Beyonce while dressed as Beyonce. So he's hit, talented and someone you'd want to hang out with.
Seth Rogen wrote this with his best friend Evan Goldberg when they were like 14, the same guy he wrote Superbad with at 17. The original short film they made was an extra feature on the blu ray that you could watch, it’s much more just straight up horror tho. Seth and Jay Baruchel have been best friends forever too, they grew up together in Canada and always dreamed of making it as actors. Jay really doesn’t like LA or the Hollywood scene that Seth went to go live in, so the plot is kind of an emotional catharsis/metacommentary on their friendship. The actors were specifically written to be parodies of themselves which everybody thought was hysterical, that’s why Michael Cera for example is such an unabashed douchebag when in real life he’s like the most polite, mild-mannered dude ever lol I’ve seen this film more than 10 times, I showed it to everyone I knew when it came out and I know every line. One of my all time favorites. Absolutely fucking riotous. We still quote this shit all the time lmao Glad you left in my personal favorite scene where Paul Rudd just runs in with no context and a giant novelty bottle of champagne and then runs out of frame. Classic

my parents brought me to the cinemas to see this film on release day i was 11 and the look on their faces was priceless when they realized what kind of film it was 😆😆
The craziest part is... they only had a 32 mil budget for this movie (stretched to 42 mil during the making). They pulled in 126 mil so it did well too. You gotta assume some of Seth's friends took pay cuts to get in under budget. Just Emma Watson's appearance alone at the time of this release would be ENORMOUS. But yea, a LOT of the budget was said to have been to pay the actors. A Rhianna cameo alone... ain't getting that for less than a mil.
this movie is so insane. just the idea for it altogether and all the cameos. Once it gets going it never really lets up in a good way and its actually funny. I kinda like that it has so many well known comedians and comedic actors. It's like an avengers team up movie of comedy 😂 I would love to see a sequel maybe at a different Hollywood party during the same apocalypse or something.
The part where they're arguing about the magazine is great because that part was completely improvised. If you watch Seth Rogen he was trying his hardest not to laugh because he didn't wanna ruin the take.
Seeing this at the movies in 2013 was one of the greatest movie experiences ever. I remember everyone dying of layghter 😂😂 this is most definitely one of my favorite comedy movies of all time. 😅😅

Rihanna and Michael Cera cut a deal on set. He would get to actually open palm slap her butt, and in return she would get to actually slap him across the face full force, no stage fighting.
Ahh YAY glad to see you react to this one I think it's 100% your humour! As most people have already commented- this movie was the greatest cinema experience ever I went to see it with my 2 best guy friends and the rest of their mates since none of my girl friends wanted to go I was the only girl there and thought i'd have a bad time🙄 ended up having the best most hilarious time ever, wish I had spent more time with those guys than my girl friends bc ended up losing one of them in an accident when we were just 17/18 (i'm almost 26 now) so this movie and that experience crying laughing with him is one of my most cherished memories
This was I think the first R rated movie I saw in theaters. I was so excited to get carded to see it and when I went up to the ticket counter, they just took my money. Didn't even check I was over 17
1:08 as a coeliac that scene always gets me 😂 in 4 years of muy thai I’ve never had an injury, the only time I ended up in hospital was because someone got toast crumbs in my butter 🤣
Did you know Rihanna actually slapped Michael, and they had to do the scene over and over again to get it right. I think he said he was concussed afterwards.
Supposedly they weren't getting the look/reaction they wanted. So Michael asked Rihanna if he could slap her ass for real. She said only if she could slap him for real. And yeah he wasn't faking getting dropped by her :)
Not even a minute in "Oh he's playing himself" That comment alone, I knew you had no idea what you were getting into and you were definitely not prepared 😂
This movie shocked me. Insane cast. They use real names. So many references and arguably one of the best movie endings ever. Still doesnt top rush hour movies tho. "I go this way and you go that way *punch* Uh, HUUUUH... WHAT IT IS A GOOD FOR" You gotta watch rush hour trilogy!
I saw an interview where Seth Rogen said Michael Cera asked Rihanna if he could really slap her butt and she said yes, if I can really smack you. So the sound he makes when she slaps him was real lol.
Whoever told you to watch this on the channel * before * you watched Pineapple Express should be ashamed. You're gonna watch it anyway so you might as well do it in the order that lets you understand more jokes.
Trivia: Originally, the movie was gonna be titled “The End of the World” but there was a movie by Edgar Wright starring Simon Pegg called “The World’s End” that was coming out that summer and Simon Pegg contacted Seth Rogen to tell him to change the title so it wouldn’t be confused for each other’s movies.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg did direct and write this movie, however in the end only about 25%-10% of their dialogue was used. Most of the dialogue in the final movie was improvised.

The only weird thing is that this movie portrays Seth Rogen as just one of thr actors when really he is the big on there, he wrote (with Evan goldberg) Superbad, and Pineapple Express, and helped with the casting decisions so he is one of the main reasons alot of the crew in this movie are in acting, he isnt just the crude weird laugh guy, he was a major part in these actors lives, he acts like he barely knows Michael Cera despite being one of the people involved in casting Cera in Superbad, same with Jonah and probably Franco too

The movie depicts the bible's prophecy of the end of the world. 1) People living their daily lives. 2) The Rapture (christians being pulled to the heavens before the tribulation occurs. 3) The Tribulation (armageddon). Satan/The Antichrist is supposed to make his appearance to the remaining people left behind (Jonah Hill).
