Seeing you wax the runners had my memories flooding in. We used either candle or soap. And we had our dog trained to not only ride with us down the hill, but he would pull the sled back up for us too. We had cook outs in the snow and mom always had hot cocoa waiting for us inside. Gloves, mittens and hats drying on the heat register. Stay warm & enjoy making more precious memories!

Excellent ad hoc adverse weather fun project, well crafted pieces. Great memories for you as a family and especially for your children later on in life. Well done Tim! 👍

Thanks for the inspiration! I'm gonna have a go at making one with whiskey barrel staves as the runners.

What great fun. Was wondering whist you were constructing them if you would wax your rails. As a boy I always had a old broken candlestick in my pocket at the sledding hill.

Remember the narrow roads from my car trip along the southern and southwest coastline of UK back in 80’s

how do you rate the bosch impact driver with the half inch square drive and quarter inch internal hex drive? im thinking of getting one with the robust cordless drill as a set. great project by the way

Love it. Solid build and been out through its paces already, no sign of wear and probably only used 1/4 of its power potential.

We have always planned on getting LR but value for money the Volvo XC90 ticked all the boxes for us. It's no 'off roader' as such but pretty sure it will tackle anything we need it for, I drove every lane round here in the snow and not once did it struggle even on standard tires. Maybe discovery next though.... :-)

My grandad was a joinernin earlier life, and when I was young he made us a sledge, big wooden thing it was. Weighed a ton. But he screwed copper pipe to the bottom of the skis. Not sure which runs better, copper pipe or waxed wood!

Look beautiful but not sure they would be any good and due to their excessive weight would just dig into the ground
