It’s fun and a lot of work… he’s been an avid hunter all his life, so we’ve always had freezer meat of all kinds but we found out how to can meat and it’s nice to have ready made meats at your fingertips for quick meals and stock for the year! I'm an old country gal that's spent a lifetime fighting ADHD, depression, etc. Your intentionality in having enough storage, open spaces, minimal decor, no shoes indoors, etc is so very very wise. The overwhelm of modern lifestyles with too much stuff in too little space (and the unending battle against country dirt coming in the door) truly effects our thinking and quality of life. Beautiful home!

I was able to purchase 2 7 cubic foot freezers for less than 1/2 the cost of one that was less than 14 cubic feet it made a lot of sense both financially and the ability to organize the contents of the freezers. I have 3 of the same freezers and they are so work so well. You home is beautiful. I can imagine how much easier it is to clean and take care because it is all one level. I have had multi level homes and they seem to be impossible to keep each floor clean at the same time and carting laundry up and down stairs along with the vacuum and everything else is a pain.

It is so purpose built, homely and whilst spacious its only what you need. We built our own home on 70 acres here in Australia several years ago and have included many of the same features-as yours. I just don't have that wonderful food producing garden!! Just a small scale one which is why I enjoy watching yours so much!
Yes, we haven’t figured it out yet! I think baby will definitely be in our room for a little longer than we’ve usually done because the kids rooms are on the opposite side of the house. Might turn part of our closet into a sleeping area after we move baby out of our room.

Your home is a dream, I can see how things in the home works for everyone with stress free and your all so happy. What a blessed family. My mom's is a little like your's but not so big or high ceilings and last year with her age dad built her a glass green house off the home so she can be inside and play in the dirt. She plays water bird music low and if your looking for her she be in there it's a new play area. Wish I had one but I'm rebuilding after a loss and moved off my Ranch and I now get to see ideas and learn so much from other's of canning , dehydrated food's, saving more seed's and growing small indoor plants. My favorite is Micro Dwarf Tomatoes they get 12" tall and fill up full of tomatoes. I have to save seed's there not cheap. And lettuce, and all kinds of fun. So I thank your hole family for letting use into your home. Bless you all

Yay I’m so excited for this video! I have been in the process of designing and 3D modeling my own dream house for the past year or so. I’ve taken lots of breaks but want to hop right back into “finalizing” the design (for now). We don’t have any land that it’ll go on but I’m just excited to know that it’ll be ready to tweak whenever I do find my land ♥️ and thank you for always being so responsive on ig when I asked you questions about your home design and layout!!
Thank goodness your builder talked you out of skylights! They are nice at first initially but soon the caulking will begin breaking down and I don't think that people think about that until the skylights begin to leak and by then the roof in that area can be ruined entirely.
I just also found this channel and I’m Binge watching .. love love .. simple life The growing of vegetables and everything else is amazing . The most impressed was the linen closet . Very few things and you have 4 kids . It’s only me and my 23 year old daughter and I need 2 lines closets ..Your closet being small and a small amount of clothes is really what is impressive . As someone who makes a lot of my own food, everything from canning, preserving, fermenting, meat curing, grinding up, greens to make my own bread. Absolutely love your kitchen love the cold room brilliant touch, and I like your pantry/scullery. Would have to add a dry, curing cabinet, Couple of freeze dryer’s, and definitely have pot filler. But it is a really great kitchen. Totally love it.

I take a bath almost every day. That is a lovely tub. Ours is almost a garden tub but short somehow. The great thing is we just got a new water heater and the water is so hot... it makes me so happy!!! Your home is beautiful.
As someone who makes a lot of my own food, everything from canning, preserving, fermenting, meat curing, grinding up, greens to make my own bread. Absolutely love your kitchen love the cold room brilliant touch, and I like your pantry/scullery. Would have to add a dry, curing cabinet, Couple of freeze dryer’s, and definitely have pot filler. But it is a really great kitchen. Totally love it.

Curious, do you qualify for any tax breaks growing most of your food? I saw that you can get a high tunnel at a reduced rate?
Not sure on the tax breaks for farm stuff outside of how I normally file my business taxes. I'll have to look into that.

The house, of course, is beautiful. However, I most admire the grit displayed by the family, and especially Becky, by living in a tent in the barn for a time while the house was under construction.
Definitely an interesting time for us. One that was a bit difficult during it all, but now we look back and laugh a bit :)

Beautiful home! I took some notes because we are in the dreaming/planning process for land and a house to build. Some of my requirements are a big pantry, kitchen island, and a lot of windows. I completely agree with the master closet- some of the house plans I see have the master closet big enough to be a bedroom!
