This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. We have a Traeger pellet smoker and a 28" Blackstone that hasn't held up well. I need to replace the cooking surface, but the cost of that had me looking at other options. I miss having a gas grill and this gives me the best of both worlds. I think im going to get the 2/3 griddle top accessory to keep from having to switch every time tho.
New Christmas present for my wife. Removing the bolts that are attached to the griddle for shipping. Look for a video that shows how to cure the griddle before using it. Great Pit!!!
I would love to see a leveling feature added for use with the griddle. That’s my biggest complaint with my blackstone. Being able to adjust the height of the corners for the slant on my patio would be magic.
I have a Silverbac and just pulled the trigger on the Primate within 10 minutes of getting the email about this being released! Can’t wait to get this grill fired up
1) Storage for the griddle 2) Optional wood tray for smoking chips 3) Maybe cast burner system ( something that will work better than tubing) 4) 1/2 griddle option 5) Rotisserie option Just something to think about.
@@mike71081 Ordered it a couple days ago. After how well the Silverbac treats me, I am hoping to never have to buy another grill again after the Primate. I will let you know after I get some grill/griddle sessions.
Ya, this is key for me. If I'm going to swap out the entire cooking surface, I can just do that now with my Weber grill. I want to be able to cook a protein and veggies at the same time.
That's what I was curious about. I don't think you'll be to get a whole chicken on there I less you spatchcock it. The thermal jacket at the top definitely robs a decent amount of space.
Number of questions, 1. Rust resistance? Many foods are cooked with lots of salt, normally destroys the cooking chamber after a while. Many grills use aluminum to avoid this, how does the stainless hold up? My last stainless grill only lasted 3 years. The griddle would spare a lot of wear, but for those who grill consistently could be a concern. 2. What is the warranty on this? Entire thing, certain parts? (A Weber might see like 10 year, Napoleon a 15 year on similar priced items). Product looks great! I'm a fan, just curious about those points.
My experience with stainless steel is that it far outlasts the other parts. My current SS grill is a big box store model. I’ve had it 15 years and have probably 1,000-1,200 cooks on it. I’ve had to replace burners twice, and the electronic ignition went out in about a year. But the cooking chamber and stainless is still as good as new. I’m looking for a new unit rather than rebuilding the innards again, and the convertible griddle is a very attractive feature. I’m disappointed I’m gonna lose my SS grates that I’ve spent 15 years getting to perfection though.
I love my Silverbac and this has me very interested....have you guys decided if and when you are going to make the corner cabinet....that is all I am waiting on to order my outdoor "L" setup from Grilla Grilles
Wow...was looking to replace by 17-year old Weber Genesis Silver with something with a griddle, but this is next-level. Wish they sold a natural gas version so I didn't have to bother with the conversion kit.
Spatchcock the turkey. I would say if you plan on a lot of that stuff though, a pellet smoker would need to be beside this if you have the room and budget. I cook outdoors mostly and they both serve purposes for me. My dad tried a griddle but it wasn't his thing. He just wants a gas grill. So, preference
I was really thinking about buying a 22" portable Blackstone on sale this weekend, but now I'm definitely going to buy a 22" portable Blackstone on sale this weekend. Maybe someday I'll be able to convince the wife to go with something this sick though!
QUESTION: Any chance you might offer a future Smaller Griddle [taking up the left 2 Stainless Steel Grates], so you end up with 1 Stainless Steel Grate [Right Side] + a Smaller Griddle on the Left Side? This would allow for cooking with a Smaller Griddle and Grate at the same time 😊
How well enclosed is it? I am having a rat problem with my weber genesis and am at the point of switching grills as the weber is way too open on the bottom (Genesis II, little guys are climbing through the grease outlet at the bottom).
Well this certainly looks fantastic. Checked the website and I see the Black Friday deals are up. Any chance of Black Friday deals on accessories... say the Silverbac cover? After two years, mine is falling apart.
Box 1 had the head unit which is fully assembled. Box 2 is the cabinet that needs to be built. Really easy though! Hope this helps and thanks for watching. Mark G
Where does one store the griddle when the grill is being used as a conventional propane grill? Having the ability to hang it off the back would be cool...
I'm actually interested in the grill mat underneath (need to keep the pavers clean). Been looking for something to fit size wise for my Silverbac. Where would I get that one?
In the gas configuration grease flares up no matter what you do if it lands on hot enough surface so just keeping the temp down a bit will help you out with this. With the griddle set up there's virtually no flare up concerns which is AWESOME in my opinion.
Where's the space though - your grills are normally good quality but for some reason fall short on height.......you made this great looking grill but put that small lid on it. That top height size is what you use on a griddle grill
If you create the mounting system for it, yes. We have not finished creating a version ourselves yet, but we know there are people out there who have created their own hardware to secure it. Essentially you'll just need something for the grill head to sit on. If it's stable and the grease trough's are unaffected, you'll be alright!
We bought the silverback and have many issues since purchasing. We’ve recently decided to switch to natural gas because a propane tank lasts less than 7 grill outs and then needs replacing. Not to mention the bottom catches fire pretty regularly. To switch to natural gas there is a gas line that needs to remove an adapter, that is glued to the line and impossible to remove. It doesn’t work. I have explained to the techs four times now the issue and they still don’t get it. I’ve use the grill maybe 50 times and I’m done with it. I’m throwing my whole grill out at this point.
Tempting... as I've always wanted a Flat Top. If this was permanent 2/3 Griddle, 1/3 Grill, I'd pick one up next time I head to Michigan's west side to visit the in-laws.

Oh yeah how easy. You just disassemble the filthy griddle and replace a bunch of parts and BAM now you can grill. Just chuck the griddle top in the silverware drawer! Forgot that pancake? Just easily pull out those parts that won’t be filthy. Pickup the griddle insert that you’ve set in the yard, and stick it back in the grill. Manufacturers clearly know how these things work.
