Absolutely enlightening and liberating. Especially the last part resonates so profoundly with me.. I have been grappling with the exact same questions and emotions and it brings so much peace to my heart. Allah is the kindest and He does not think us any lesser. Alhamdullilah and jazakumullah
I loved what Eram said in the end. Its Allahs responsibility to guide us. I think taking that responsibility upon ourselves is what prevents us from knowing the truth most of the time. Loved the discussion. Great effort❤
The word Nashuz (from Arabic poetry) can also mean " inclination towards someone" in this case someone other then the spouse. It doesn't necessarily mean extra martial affair or lewdness. This meaning sits well with verse 128 and 34 of Surah Nisa. If we take this meaning then idribuhuna can be explained as "prevent them" and "leave them" . but more research needs to be done on the meaning. I also like to know how the scholars explain the word " takhafona" ( you fear) are they taking it as 'talamouna" ( you know) ? The session was very informative. Still many unresolved issues.
The problem with vigilante domestic violence is that you cannot tame by beating. Even beating children creates rebellion and resentment. Most of the time the person gets hurt seriously or killed. The scholars interpretation of light beating is comical or not on the face is down right demeaning and promoting violence. I thought another meaning of “ Daruba “ is move away from them ?
Salam, ur discussion further opens the possibilities of these verses. Word nushuz I feel is much wider sense then Zina which is specifically used for sexual intercourse out of marital relations n only punishable if the act is witnessed by four persons. Nushuz could also cover other grossly damaging behaviours both at personal n community levels like strong emotional involvement, become addicted, involved in serious crimes, abusing children etc. For adultery to merit physical punishment 4 witness condition is must. Word strick is not in the literal sense but can be many other types of actions which can be emotional painful or could create physical difficulties. Economic penalties as we know r painful stricks. I also feel the social punishment verses r flexible with the context n time. Edip Uksal I feel is right that 'cut the hand of the thief' is better mean 'stop the hands of the theif'.
@@HumayunMirza-s8f yes. As was discussed in the video, the punishment needs to determined according to the act and also according to what is suitable. In any event, the punishment can not be by the husband as he is not the one being addressed in the ayat as is falsely portrayed by some scholars. And then that gives Carte Blanche to men to become abusers and wife beaters.
Erum, the traditional common translation n understanding of this verse n other verses regarding women r the natural outcome of the strong patriarchal mindset. U wud have noticed the hostility n sensitivity of men on not wearing hijab. Many feel a women not wearing hijab is not worthy to talk on Quran n Deen. Excessive emphasis on hijab is converted into a tool to restrict, isolate n deprive women from becoming empowered. Well done keeps it up.
what i want to understand is that why is stuff like this all up to interpretation? is it not allah's duty to ensure that his text is as clear as possible to ensure it is not misunderstood in any way? you are providing a point of view that has escaped the mainstream islamic way. it is a very niche view. how is it beneficial if the majority never agree or believe and if to understand it i need 1.5 hours here and then another god knows how many hours in your parts 2 and 3? why is it so goddamn difficult to understand a religion meant for everyone till the end of times???
Qur’an gave women rights that are taken away by scholars and misinterpretations sadly. Qur’an beautiful manual script of life if not read with scholars mind or hate, but reason and aqal.
