I’m not sure where you guys got this information that I didn’t know will smith was a rapper 😂 I literally stated “I believe he rapped the intro song as well” insinuating he can rap.
LOL I will not hold it against you. I have to remind my daughter that Ice- T, Ice Cube, Queen Latifah and LL Cool J were all rappers before acting. Appreciate your generation keeping these memories alive. I wish they had sitcoms like this on. Even commercials when I was growing up in the 80s had jingles and theme music. Also when Will introduces Jazz that is also his DJ partner in real life as well hence Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince.
Will and Jeff were a successful rapper and dj duo and had to be convinced to act. Will had hit songs out and uncle Phil quotes one of them in the second episode.
Fun fact: Jazz is actually the world renowned disc jockey known as DJ Jazzy Jeff and also part of a late 80's and early 90's hip hop with The Fresh Prince(who is also known as Will Smith). Both born and raised in my hometown of Philadelphia
The last scene between Will and Uncle Phil was well done. Uncle Phil does bring up a good point that Will shouldn’t be quick to judge him, when he doesn’t know what he’s all about. But at the same time, he is also dismissive of Will’s situation. It’s not until he hears Will play Beethoven’s “Fur Elise”, that Uncle Phil realizes he’s gotta listen to his own advice, and see that there’s more to the kid than he thinks. Such a great moment that’ll inform their relationship/dynamic as the series goes on…
I get that feeling about kids who don't know about certain bands and musicians, but every generation has the same feelings. It's just something that happens.
First off, RIP Uncle Phil. Unfortunately he passed in 2013. If you ever get around to watching the Reunion the cast had in 2020 (or 2021?), they do a tribute for him, and it’s pretty touching. Can see how much the cast respected and revered him.
Quincy Jones basically saved Will Smith's career with proposing him with this series and introducing him into the acting world, and the rest is history. RIP Qunicy Jones.
The series was actually made for Kid N Play, however they turned it down and chose to have their own cartoon instead, therefore the series was then offered to Will smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff
First thing’s first, Rest in Peace Uncle Phil…but babygirl, I’m so happy you chose to do this series. Heads up, the first season is a great set up, but seasons 2-6 are pretty different…Also, we need you to listen to DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince (Will before he went solo) music, they’ll have several references to it this season. DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince (Will Smith) were the first ones to ever ever win a Grammy for hip-hop, Will had a amazing career in this duo, he only got this show because he was young and blew all his money at the time…and the show was the catalyst to the Will y’all see now.
Love this show When uncle Phil said Will is only 17, he doesn’t have a rep yet. Is a reference to Will Smith’s song “Parents Just Don’t Understand” After saying that I might sounded like a old head but I’m 24 😂😂😂 Rip James Avery & rip Quincy Jones (He produced the theme Song)
The show gets better and opening theme gets condensed as the episodes go on. And get used to Jazzy Jeff getting thrown out of the house the way he did going forward. In 1991, both Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff had a huge Worldwide hit with the song 'Summertime'.
I’m from England and I’m old and there was nothing better than getting back from school and eating my tea just in time to watch the fresh prince that was aired over hear on bbc 3 !!!!
The fact you're doing Martin and Fresh Prince on the channel is super dope!!! Still my two favorite TV shows of all-time, Martin being number 1. Although, Fresh Prince is probably better overall show, but Martin's brand of humor is just unmatched...especially when you get to season two. That's the single funniest season of television ever!!!
I remember watching The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air I love the 90’s I was born on June 18 1996 even Will Smith Alfonso Ribeiro were on this show I can watch all Fresh Prince Of Bel Air All day keep supporting the 90’s
I like how everyone starts cheering for Ashley when they first start. Then eventually becoming annoyed with teenage/adult Ashley. And yes, if you read this comment same goes for Hillary. You'll hate her at first then she starts to become loveable
When I was a little kid and we only had 5 channels on TV cuz we couldn’t afford cable TV, every day after school they would put two episodes of fresh prince on BBC2. I must’ve seen every episode at least 3 times over, but I haven’t seen it in probably 15 years or more. Really cool to revisit it here on your channel, this show was a big part of my childhood.
17:40 as someone who grew up in West Philadelphia-but doesn't live there anymore, i hear it every time someone finds out that i am from there. they force this theme song on me with furiousness. i just stand there like "okay... okay...." comes with the territory i guess. so, i am used to people singing this song. no worries. 🙂
Fun fact. If you watch Will in the episodes. You will see his mouth moving while the other actors saying their lines. He would mumble their lines under his breath while they were saying them.
You can really see his inexperience in his acting during the earlier episodes. If you pay close attention to his face when he's talking to the other person in the shot, you can see him mouthing the other actor's words so he could keep track of when it would be his turn to talk again. It happens every now and then, but it's amusing to watch.
Yeah, the first few episodes featured an extended version of the theme song. If I’m not mistaken, episode 3 and on, is when the theme is shortened to what most people know. LOL Will knocking the door singing “Back to Life” is iconic. 😂
I saw an interview with Geoffrey's actor where he said that in high British culture "Master [first name]" is typically how you would address children and so the joke is basically Geoffrey calling Will son. I don't know how much of that is accurate but I thought it was cute.
People talk about Phil forcing Ashley. Well we have a problem there. Ashley never let them know she hated any of it because she was trying to be a good child and please them. So technically, in their mind they were not forcing her. But also, Parents do have a right to get their kids involved in things they believe the child will get to like even though the child may not at first. That is why you're the parent because if a child only does what they like some kids won't do anything constructive.
DJ Jazzy Jeff is the second half of the hip hop act with Will Smith when he was The Fresh Prince( and the show is named after him) They were popular hip hop artists in the 80's. Check out their most famous songs Parents just don't understand and Girls are nothing but trouble. Will was the first rap artist to win a Grammy. They came out around the same time and Kid n Play and Salt N Peppa.
Fun fact James Avery Uncle Phil was the original Ninja turtle shredder in the late '80s. By the time fresh Prince first stared he'd already been voicing the shredder for 3 years
Thank you for reacting to one of my all time favorite sitcoms. This sitcom & Martin were two of the biggest sitcoms of the 90s. Here are some fun facts: Will Smith said that he was deciding on a name to choose for his character he said that Carlton played by Alfonso Ribiero told him to use his real name because that what he was going to be for the rest of his life. Alfonso used his real name on the sitcom Silver Spoons before he starred on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Alfonso was also in a Pepsi commercial with Michael Jackson & his brothers.
7:45 That was the directors and James Avery’s suggestion, had to get Big Willie prepped for “Six Degrees of Separation”, and his upcoming Hollywood career
I was 15-16 when this first aired in 1990 I’m sure you will love these episodes and Jazzy Jeff is Will Smith’s DJ they were called Jazzy, Jeff, and the Fresh Prince. That’s why Quincy Jones got Will Smith to play this part because his rap name was already Fresh Prince. I’m looking forward to the rest of the episodes
Geoffrey as the posh English butler (aka "Benson"), is so sassy and hilarious. Robert Guillaume, who played a quick witted butler in "Benson" and "Soap." Like Niles (Daniel Davis), another sarcastic British butler, from "The Nanny" starring Fran Drescher (as Fran Fine) & Charles Shaughnessy (as Maxwell Sheffield, who hired Fran to help watch his three children). I love the stock footage/meme of Jazz(y) Jeff getting thrown out by Uncle Phil. Karyn Parsons played a great Valley Girl/Beverly Hills brat. The "Carlton" dance is a classic. The great speech by Uncle Phil gave to Will in the first episode was good. For some "Latchey Kids," who grew up in 1970's -1980's, the TV was the Babysitter. The "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" tv series was cool like "The Cosby Show," to inspire and uplift people = showing two affluent and posh African-American social elite families; in contrast to the two (real life) street-smart Philly imports: the Fresh Prince and Jazz, that uses the "urban dictionary (AAVE/Ebonics)" slang.
Yes! love this show! This show literally taught me English. Well this and some other shows like friends , Family Matters etc . Learned a lot from watching 90's shows and some 80's show (reruns) All the after school shows..
This show is a classic, I love how in the 1st episode he wearing the same outfit as from his intro. But they cut the intro later on its alot shorter later in the season. Black White Uncle Phil is wild. You haven't seen anything yet. Love you MJ 🤍 keep up the great reaction.
Season 1 to Season 6 I know pretty much every word from every episode by heart. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was and still is my favorite sitcom on TV of all time.
This was my show growing up. Remember we were doing the will/jazz handslap all the time. Dont sleep on Alfonso Ribeiro(Carlton) he has been a proffesional preformer since the age of 6. Even did a Pepsi commercial having a dance battle with Michael Jackson when he was a kid. Just keep your eye out for the "Carlton Dance". He makes it look easy but its actually a mixed dancing style very hard to replicate.
90s TV Shows it's the best like 3rd Rock, Malcolm & Eddie, Family Matters, Full House, Home Improvement, Martin, Kenan & Kel, The Nanny, Mad About You and more
Martin! But Will Smith is a Rapper first actor second. He landed this role because of his career “JAZZY JEFF & THE FRESH PRINCE” look it up! This song is a copy of his hit “Parents just don’t understand” You need to React to the Drama series “BEL-AIR” And Will and Uncle Phil become best friends.
This is my personal opinion yes Martin is funnier, but… Fresh Prince is the better show and my favorite tbh still love Martin just Fresh Prince has the complete package!🎯💯
I’m not sure where you guys got this information that I didn’t know will smith was a rapper 😂 I literally stated “I believe he rapped the intro song as well” insinuating he can rap.

React to living single that show is good and funny and hilarious
Will and Jeff were a successful rapper and dj duo and had to be convinced to act. Will had hit songs out and uncle Phil quotes one of them in the second episode.

Yuuup. A lot of current DJ programs is based off techniques Jazzy Jeff founded himself
saw him live a couple of years ago -- he's incredible! seriously, no joke on the turntables. a master.

Damn...two days too late😂
Martin and now Fresh Prince. Let’s goooo!! I love my 90’s sitcoms. Wayans Brothers, Jamie Fox Show etc.
Frfr And that’s just the 90s era Imagine if she went to The Sitcoms from the 2000s Drake and Josh that 70s show Bernie mac
The 90s is the greatest decade of all time.
Yes The wayans bros and the jamie foxx show but another classic is sister sister
@@lordteegaming9933 Roc, Living Single & Hangin With Mr. Cooper are classics as well.
The 80s 90s and 2000s had the greatest tv shows ever imo
"You're only 16 you don't have a rep yet."
Is a line from one of his songs called "Patents Just Don't Understand."

Little Ashley grew up to have an impressive career in acting and music. Will signed her, and she had a gold album
Quincy Jones basically saved Will Smith's career with proposing him with this series and introducing him into the acting world, and the rest is history. RIP Qunicy Jones.
He was alr famous and even had a grammy
The series was actually made for Kid N Play, however they turned it down and chose to have their own cartoon instead, therefore the series was then offered to Will smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff
@@MicSK28 He was famous but he lost a lot of money before Fresh Prince
Spoken like someone that was not around at this time. Will was famous rich and successful and that was already before the series even came around.
MJ out there put in work of the classics. I believe You can achieve anything to set your mind to.
The development of Will and Uncle Phil's relationship is one of the best I've ever seen on a TV show. Going to be a fun series!
First thing’s first, Rest in Peace Uncle Phil…but babygirl, I’m so happy you chose to do this series. The show gets better and opening theme gets condensed as the episodes go on. And get used to Jazzy Jeff getting thrown out of the house the way he did going forward. In 1991, both Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff had a huge Worldwide hit with the song 'Summertime'.

He also appeared on an episode of this sitcom & he voiced Rikifi in The Lion King.
Robert Guillaume
Yes, that was definitely Will Smith playing the piano. He improvised that part of the show, and everybody was blown away.
I’m from England and I’m old and there was nothing better than getting back from school and eating my tea just in time to watch the fresh prince that was aired over hear on bbc 3 !!!!
All the real life lessons, the sarcasm, the snark, the smart ass-ery, the sass, the spunk, here we go!
You don't know D.J. Jazzy Jeff? Now I officially feel old.
Each season gets better and better!
I'll always remember James Avery as the voice for Shredder, that's where I first learned about him.
Say word!!! Wow, never knew that.
You say don’t judge Uncle Phil will after you seen Will played that 🎹 piano don’t judge the 👑 Prince!
Keep the classics coming, you doin' the damn thang!
I can’t wait to see the rest the fresh prince of bel-air. W content MJ.
The line "you're only 17 you don't have a rep yet" is from his hit song Parents Just Dont Underatand.

I miss 90s sitcoms like this. Fresh Prince, In living Color and Martin are my 3 favorite shows.
One of the BEST sitcoms of all time! I was only 6 when it ended. RIP James Avery
I watched Fresh Prince re-runs every morning before school. This is the GOAT sitcom.
I could not take will smith seriously dancing like that while jay demonstrates on drum set. lol
