I work on Mercedes which are so easy to repair. You remove 15 bolts and you have the clutch. Now I am gonna help a friend with her Xsara Picasso and you have to dismantle half the car. Nice video but now I understand why these vehicles end up in the junk yard
Brilliant video! Absolutely saved my bacon over the last 2 days. Thanks for all of the detail and pointing out each fixing. I genuinely had no clue where to start with this job and you walked me through it one bolt at a time. 👍 I owe you a pint. I'd give you more but if I had any money I wouldn't have needed this vid (or be driving a Picasso lol). ps. Warning to other first timers; that gearbox is a lot heavier than Kevin makes it look. He is strong af.
james healey . ... I’m genuinely pleased with your feedback.. it’s the reason why I make these videos ... and I’m glad you used it for it’s rightful purpose. Thanks for the great review. Really appreciate it.
I've one on a Berlingo to do and it's been a long time since I've done one. I was just looking to jog my memory and once again one of your videos popped up 👍. I've lost count of how many times your videos have helped me get jobs done quickly. I've often thought about how many DIYers have got stuck after watching you make it look easy it's unreal what you do 🥷❤
Gotta be the best guy on here showing very detailed jobs & not chatting 💩 instead of showing the job in hand. Good on you Kev 👍You will go far. Good luck for the future⭐️
75 year old sort of retired mechanic ..crankshaft oil seal leaking . on a 2005 Xsara Picasso 1.6hdi. manual gearbox . as the gearbox has to come out ..I have taken a look at your excellent video .. I got a feeling that transmission will be too heavy for lil old me . great tips on removing the driveshafts .and clutter in the engine bay . as I am in Alvito Portugal 38c at the moment .The weepy crankshaft seal will have to wait for cooler weather .The clutch is smooth as silk so maybe it has been replaced at some time earlier. but with all of that work I will end up replacing it in any case . I was the 1980 Donnington GT champion. Memories !.
I'm just in the back end of putting my picasso back together when I came across your video. What a absolute pain in the a**** it is, and I've done 5 clutches in other cars and this is the more troublesome I've tackled. The gearbox is a heavy lump, even with two of us at it. How the **** do you manage that defies me. The Haynes manual was quite good but your video was a simple walk through, wish I had found it before I started the clutch. I'm a maintenance engineer and more than capable of doing a clutch but I'll think twice about doing another picasso. Cheers for the video pal, but you do make it look sooooo easy, I suppose its that easy if your doing them day in day out. I'm definitely subscribing to your channel now. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It all seams strait forward, I Am going to do mine on my partner hdi I'll see how far I go before I give up and have to many bolts over.thanks to show us how it's done it's a great help

Amazing video showing the more than with replacing a clutch on the Picasso... mines just turned 97k at 18 years owned & FSH from new but it's had to go into garage after the bearings went so could no longer get in and out of gear. She must keep going for obvious reasons in these times and better the Devil you know than potentially buy someone else's issues... hope she keeps going. Now about those back wipers that come on when I open the back doors or boot ... and don't park properly. Your vids are amazing thank you for posting am Tweeting out this vid on our OAK77uk hope it helps - Michael
Great video! It helped me out big time when I had to do a clutch on a very similar car. No I've got a 2006 1.6 HDi to work on with some slight differences to it. Have you worked on a 2006? Just wondering how you got the gear shift cables out or if its possible to wait til you've got the gearbox down.
I just wonder why You leave out the change and centering of the clutch - but OK it is shown many in many other videos - it is just a bit strange to see You suddenly just put the gearbok on back again - but when You look closer, You can see it is a new clutch. I also wonder why it is necessary to remove the right wheel driveachsel - but I will know when I get to it.
Dore Lug I just figured out removing and replacing a clutch should already be something anyone knows how when attempting to remove the gearbox. If you don’t remove driveshaft you will struggle getting back in.
Is it the same procedure for the gas engine? I was told that the axle has to be removed in order to dismantle the gearbox. Do both engines differ in that?
@@WMCS Sorry mate, I meant petrol engines. I saw a video of changing the clutch on a 2009 petrol engine. More likely, almost the same thing as the 2003 diesel. It's just important for me to know, weather the axle has to be dismantled as well. BTW, thanx for the quick respond.
Hi Kev. Great video mate. I suspect that the release bearing has gone on my Picasso too as the clutch pedal is more of an on off switch and the accompanying squeal is a bit of a tell tale. I was led to believe that the subframe needed to be loosened off but see you manoeuvre the gearbox around it and down. Do you find that the release bearing sleeve around the gearbox input shaft suffers on the 2.0HDI the same as it used to on the old 1.9 diesel? Thanks for the vid it is very helpful. All the best for Christmas and the New Year. Tony
tonyr1963 definitely change that guide tube... once the thrust bearing starts spinning it damages it... Definitely plenty of room to manoeuvre the gearbox our once that rear counter weight is removed. All the best when you attempt to do your one. If you get stuck just drop us a message. Merry Christmas to you too...and thanks for visiting the channel
Très bonne vidéo par contre je voulais noté que ton support moteur a été légèrement meulé pour pouvoir passer la douille j ai fait la même chose sur mon Picasso merci
Kevin....firstly gear vid....takes twice as long filming!! I have a 2007 Peugeot 807 people carrier 2.0l HDI with 6 speed box.... great car but rough sounding release bearing when pressing the clutch but clutch seems OK... would the basic principals of removal and replacement apply to this model? the 807 wasn't THAT popular and I can't find a manual for the 807/Citroen C8 .... it has towed a boat for most of its life and I suspect lots of trailer maneuvering has happened. So would the 6 speed make any real difference to the process? Thanks.
Hiya..., The gearbox itself would be almost identical. The only difference would be the gear linkage attachments... and on the 807 there is a bolt located facing the DPF filter. You have three options for that bolt. 1. Take out the exhaust down pipe. 2.Die grind the bolt head off. 3. Take off the bolt and stud that holds the bracket for the DPF and crack the 13mm with a ring spanner and as you pull the gearbox out slowly undo that bolt. But putting gearbox back will be very tricky with this method. So you may have to cut that bolt off and do away with it completely. Apart from that it’s not a bad repair. For an idea check out the Citroen C5 video on the channel as it’s the exact gearbox and engine.
Brilliant video! I have exactly the same car and the release bearing is on its way out. Thanks to this detailed tutorial, I'm going to attempt it myself. Can tell me what sort of impact tool you are using, 3/8" or 1/2" and what torque level? I've been wanting to buy one for years and now have the perfect excuse. Many thanks for your time and efforts
