1. Custom wetsuit fabric seats (easy to clean). 2. Custom shelving, and storage drawers made of cedar wood (cause it smells super nice). 3. Loud soundsystem (for DnB). 4. Custom mural, on both sides, of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam, except instead of Adam, it's my bike being touched by God.
Yhea these almost blog style videos are always a good watch. Just watching whoever it is enjoying themselves just like people do all the time when going out for a ride etc. Easy to relate to.
As a vw guy. I wish so badly that we got the vw van. Especially since it’s a mid size van. I currently have a transit connect and it’s the best utility vehicle I’ve ever had. Just wish it was a tad bigger. And a vw. 😆
I'm disappointed the cameraman and editor didn't use any shots of me. I was sessioning GBU that day. I don't make it look quite as good though 🤣 Neil makes it look effortless 🤙
There's a lot of Transit Customs around too, a more budget friendly option than the VWs and handle just like a car. Great if you want a bulkhead between you and your kit. We bought a crew cab LWB version. Great for kids, kit and 4 bikes. Up at Llandegla we got called 'lifestyle mountain bikers' because we had a van (overheard convo between a guy and a friend he was taking MTB for the day).... I took that as a compliment.
@@GrumpysGarageDave XC racer here, it really is not that different as you'd expect, when switching between bikes, it literally takes around 10-15 minutes, and it all feels the same, you are not missing much believe me. In fact my road bike for training is full alloy.
@@garegintadevosyan8670 cool cause I don't plan in having any carbon stuff anytime soon lol .. I just ride for fun and never plan on racing .. I raced BMX and motocross when I was younger but those days are long gone .. im 50 now and have no business racing anything on 2 wheels haha
@@garegintadevosyan8670 I agree I have a XC bike carbon frame and a trial bike alloy frame . You ride either for a minute or two there all the same. Look at Sam Pilgrim he rides anything.
That van is sick. Specifically came to this video to check it out because I'm thinking of doing something like this myself. Impressed at the clearance you have on that badboy considering the suspension is stock. I'd probably go a bit more intermediate with the tyres but impressive to see you can just chuck those on. Current sedan has 20in wheels (factory, not wanker spec) and while I've not really found it super limiting, it does not feel great going over potholes in your average mtb park or gravel road etc. Would love a van or SUV that would fit my bike inside it, very keen to do like a 1000km trip (Australia, this is actually close for a state to state travel) and do not like the idea of my bike sitting on a rack for that kind of distance. Thanks for the ideas!
Yep, the van is very cool Neil. I do miss my old van. My Rav4 is doing the job for now though. Damn that was a fast run on the KOM run. So smooth and you had your lines sorted well ahead of time which adds to the smooth run. Very impressive and I loved the kettle too.
That looked like a perfect day out.. I’d also say the mega looks more fun than the gigga.. I know it’s not precise enough.. but send it down GBU on the gigga when you next get chance.. curious to how you’d say they compare
I too went to a van this past spring. Had a little Subie wagon and loved it, but now I have a Toyota Sienna and it’s absolutely perfect for hauling bikes inside the van. It’s front wheel drive and gets the same gas mileage as the old 2004 Impreza it replaced.
I absolutely live your van Neil! Would love a more in depth tour or maybe even a video on the next upgrade??? Wish we could get the VW vans here in the U.S.A. Keep up the awesome videos!!!
Three things; 1. Probably super lame - but what shoes is Neil wearing? - clean AF 2. In my Transporter, I utilise the barn doors as my storage for bits- 2 ‘helmetors’ on each door for my roadie, enduro, full face and jump bike lid. Followed up by two cargo nets on each door - one side for shoe storage, one for cleaning/ lubrication products. 3. Check it out in GMBN tech show 133
The van and the kettle aero press doofer are definitely cool but..... GBU has to be among the most ridden trails in the UK. This guy just popped out for a little solo ride and casually threw down a KOM like it was nothing.
That kettle is sick, reminds me of a Russian semivar. We used to have a few in our house when I was a kid and you drop coals down the center instead of building a fire in it, but you could probably do both really.
With The Van I'd be tempted to put in a slide out tray with mounting blocks to attach the front forks to to secure the bike in the van when travelling. then put in long slide out drawers to house all the kit I'd need to take with me for days out with the Family. It will be much cheaper to than taking out the Motorhome, fuel wise.
Just caught up with this video so a bit late to the party. Neil since you've upgraded the wheels and tyres, do you know you may have altered the rolling circumference of your wheels and thrown your speedometer reading out. I helped out a chap with a 2017 T6 that had fitted BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tyres and some aftermarket wheels and he found when checking on GPS that his speedometer was under reading, so when the speedo displayed 30 MPH,. GPS showed he was actually doing 33.4 MPH but it got worse the faster he went so at indicated motorway speeds of 70 MPH the GPS was showing him to actually be travelling at 77.9 MPH so he was at risk of getting a speeding ticket. I altered the softcoding on his instrument cluster to account for the change in rolling circumference and after the coding change the GPS indicated speed was just about bang on matching the speedometer indicated speed.
Nice van but you need to add a water bed and hang a disco ball inside. Then paint a mural of a wizard riding a dragon with lightening bolts everywhere and even have a leather bikini clad warrior princess in the painting.
Great relaxed vibe to the video. Question re gigs vs mega. I would like you to elaborate on why you prefer the mega. I know you have down comparison vids previously but your pers thoughts a Would be appreciated.
I have Vibrocore bars, they really help (me) with sore hands at the end of a days ride. Got the rims recently for a deal, they do feel a little damped compared to a plain rim but yet to see an actual benefit yet in riding.
Oh how the GoPro effect strikes again! Can you do a video on how to do double doubles? Ive ridden the set on GBU near the top at FOD, but I just cant get my head around them. Do you manual or jump or both or neither?
After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.
£30,000 in total for the van, £5000 for the actual van and £25000 for the VW badge..........you pay to be in the 'gang'. The Mega on the other hand, hands down the best bike you can buy 👌
How would you set up your dream mountain bike van?
with a bed and space for my track motorbike too!
Why not do a section on Dirt Shed Show where people can send in a couple of pictures of their van builds (a one-off van vault)?
Get a bike stow.. we’ll worth it! Makes life easy for loading.. I got the 4 bike..
So many different ways to set it up, but 1 requirement would be waterproof so I could hose out the back!
1. Custom wetsuit fabric seats (easy to clean).
2. Custom shelving, and storage drawers made of cedar wood (cause it smells super nice).
3. Loud soundsystem (for DnB).

Sorry guys but for me, Neil will always be the best GMBN presenter; and watching him ride is like poetry in motion
its blake for me
Thanks 👍 Blake is my favourite
Ur KOM ride looks so effortless. More of this type of video please.
Your POV footage reminds us that you are still the "racer" of team GMBN💙
I absolutely love this style of content! So fun seeing a raw video of Neil going for a ride!
Yes, need more of this Neil
Thanks. Really enjoyed just getting out
Yhea these almost blog style videos are always a good watch. Just watching whoever it is enjoying themselves just like people do all the time when going out for a ride etc. Easy to relate to.
I have to admit I love watching Neil and Blake with coffee in the morning. 15min videos are perfect for starting the day.
This was easily the best gmbn video I’ve watched, very entertaining. We need more videos like this with Neil
Boy oh boy, The Don makes it all look so easy. He was born to ride fast!!!
Neils riding is insane. I could watch him all day.
Badly needing to use bathroom after coffee is a good trick to get KOM!
More of this! "Day on the trail" awesome!
Exactly the same rim configuration I've got from Spank. But mine are red, not gold. They look great! And I do love them. They feel great.
Surprising me, I really like that gold on the wheels.
As a vw guy. I wish so badly that we got the vw van. Especially since it’s a mid size van. I currently have a transit connect and it’s the best utility vehicle I’ve ever had. Just wish it was a tad bigger. And a vw. 😆
Love the coffee appreciation, sage barista express and aeropress in use
Sick to see big riders at my local

New in the GMBN shop, Neil's Irish Fisherman Van Coffee Kit? Looks good to me. Comes with a multi-tool and cassette lock ring adapter.

Your riding is so elegant and smooth dude 🤟.
Easily one of the best videos to date! Please do more like these!
"Haven't ridden alloy rims for ages...", hard to relate to GMBN sometimes 😊
Right .. I've never ridden carbon rims or frame .. All my junk is alloy

🤷♂️ yeah, but when we have well good wheel partners offering carbon rims they are hard to turn down

Sold my T6 a few weeks ago and now I'm sporting a Ford Tourneo Custom. Really nice Van! Actually a little bit too nice for me...
I'm fascinated with that coffee maker, I love the van and the bike also. That's the dream!!!
the coffee maker is actually very well regarded! aeropress if you want to search...
Besides the aeropress, he used a Kelly Kettle to boil the water. Available on Amazon.
Nice day with Neil! Looks like that left leg has healed up well, mate!
Kelly Kettles kick ass. The green stopper looks new.

Like the Aeropress being part of the setup 👌

That rim and tyre combo!

that topeak ratchet tool is my favourite multitool! Also cool kettle and thanks for the Van run through
This video has so much personality! More videos like this please!! (Vlogs)
Aeropress!! Respect sir. Knows what good coffee is :)
Damn that trail looks fun and you were flying for sure 💪
Coffee NErd Alert! Every Presenter should show us their Coffee setup!
Loved this video need more of just days out and riding. That run just looks effortless so smooth
Awesome riding dude, that coffee works a treat💚
Nice van Neil, impressed with the kettle (I need to get one of them)
Impressive riding as normal. 🤘
POV run was cool ya still got it 👊
The Don, Mr Donoghue, you are still boss.
Even without bikes, Neil just seems like a fun guy to hang out with
I'm more of a pickup truck guy, but the van setup looks ideal for people with kids.
I feel so relaxed now 👍
Hi Blake I just Realized that you are born in zimbabwe i live In zim and im so Amazed coz you are one of the resons i got into mtb😁
please see this
Top vid Neil and been looking at van options myself recently. Keep up the good work. :)
I absolutely live your van Neil! Would love a more in depth tour or maybe even a video on the next upgrade??? Wish we could get the VW vans here in the U.S.A. Keep up the awesome videos!!!
Nice Van! Hoping to see it more often.
Surprised at how much room you have in the back of the van with the 2nd row, thought it would be a lot tighter. That kettle's pretty cool too!
The Don hits again!
Love this vid! Wish I had half of this great trail as my local trail and half your skills to ride it!
Great video. Gotta love a vw t series van .currently running a vauxhall vivaro lwb . .

Great video! Thanks for the neat content :)
Epic trail.
You did a big ride a while back . CYB then Penmac then Marin . Be interesting to see how an Ebike would fair on 1 battery 625 or 750 .
That's gotta be the coolest kettel in the world
neil, believe me you have a great life there, make me envy😄
Cool riding style 👍
Transporters tick all the boxes: work, surf, mtb
..scene tax
Love the Mega if only there was stock I'd buy a RS tomorrow.
Great video 👏
shout out for the kelly kettle, hey!

Neil you should get roof bars and a roof tent. Me and my girlfriend keep the inside for bikes and sleep on the roof 🤙
I wish I could even walk as well as Neil rides downhill
Great ride buddy
This content is great!
Super nice 👍🏻
Who has time for a Kelly kettle? Jetboil or the alpkit version is the tool.

can u plz go cannock chase stile cop and monkey it is a blast. ❤️

It sucks we don’t have vans like this in North America

You can manual the first pretty easily as a stepping stone to jumping both
I went to Forest of Dean literally a week ago so annoying how I could’ve met you’ve had waited another week, 😂
Van is great, how do you like strap in your bikes so they don't crash into each other and get scratched up?
Neil = Mr Smooth :)
I want a van now
Are the gold rims/decals custom, or are they available to purchase? (Can't find them anywhere online)
