    =============================
    Welcome to lesson 4 of Rockwell ControlLogix PLC and Siemens VFD Communication.
    We have created this series of lessons discussing the steps to configure and program communication between a Rockwell ControlLogix PLC and a Siemens VFD.
    In Part 4, this video, we will pick up where we left off in part 3 to complete the VFD configuration and the communication path between the gateway and the Rockwell ControlLogix processor.
    As a prerequisite, please watch previous lessons. Here are the links to these lessons:
    Part 1: realpars.com/connect-vfd-to-plc/
    Part 2: realpars.com/hms-anybus/
    Part 3: realpars.com/siemens-vfd/
    In Part 1, we have addressed how to configure the communication between ControlLogix 5000 PLC and HMS Anybus gateway using ControlNet network media with CIP protocol. (realpars.com/connect-vfd-to-plc/)
    In Part 2, we discussed how the HMS gateway was set up as a PROFIBUS Master to communicate and control the slave Robicon VFD using PROFIBUS protocol. The gateway is a device for converting or translating ControlNet CIP protocol to Siemens PROFIBUS protocol.
    (realpars.com/hms-anybus/)
    In Part 3, we started the configuration of the Siemens VFD properties as the PROFIBUS Slave to operate a motor driving feed water pump.
    (realpars.com/siemens-vfd/)
    In Part 4, this video, we will pick up where we left off in part 3.
    In the previous part, I left off in the middle of using the “STARTER” Project Wizard, prior to setting up the Motor and its nameplate data.
    What is the BICO?
    Every drive contains a large number of interconnecting input and output variables and internal control variables.
    BICO or Binector Connector Technology is a technology with Siemens VFD drives allows the drive to be adapted to a wide variety of requirements.
    Digital and analog signals can be connected by means of the BICO parameters and are identified by the prefix BI, BO, CI or CO in their parameter name.
    A binector is a digital (binary) signal without a unit which can assume the value 0 or 1.
    A connector is a digital signal in 32-bit format. It can be used to emulate words (16 bits), double words (32 bits) or analog signals.
    In the next lesson, Part 5 and the final part of this series of lessons, we will continue with the VFD configuration using the Siemens Starter commissioning software and jump into configuring the communication data.

    Thank you great video.. I recently checked the realpars website to now if there's any new video.. I was so happy because developers add a new library about opc ua server... That topic was my wish to be added to library.. Please keep going realpars because you are best reference for us... Thanks... And I wish more videos about opc ua videos with realpars simplicity and efficiency habits...

    Could i use prosoft mvi56 pdpmv1 profibus master for this communication? Is it possible to control the vfd? ..

    • @realpars
      @realpars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I have often used the Prosoft MVI56 PDPMV1 for communications between a Rockwell PLC and a Profibus segment with Siemens MicroMaster drives. Remember, the MV156 is a communication device that allows an A-B PLC to communicate quite easily with a ProdiBus device. Control of the VFD (setting SP, using status bits, etc.) is still done via PLC logic. The VFD needs to be configured to provide the functionality that is required.

    Why 7OO Volts for connection voltage ? Thank you

    • @realpars
      @realpars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In many parts of the world, the standard supply voltages are 200VAC, 400VAC, and 690VAC. The drive connection voltage configured in the video as 700V was done so to match the maximum level of incoming service. All of the drive and motor parameters for a drive such as this are set to match the physical installation.
