Angès Varda and photography

In 1963, Agnès Varda was invited by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) to spend two months in Cuba. Fascinated by her surroundings, she took nearly 3,000 photographs, which later became the subject of a poetic and political documentary film, Salut les Cubains, in which snapshots follow one another to the wild rhythm of Cuban music.
