4:45 Lets say you have lifted and are holding a trailer above the ground. At this point the reversing lever is in up position and the handle is also up. You don't want it to just freely slide down a drop your load like in the video. What position do things have to be in order to gradually jack the trailer back down to ground level.

With no weight on the jack it will fall as shown. Under load it will crawl down controllably

That is extremely important and I would not want to use a jack without that feature. He should have showed how that works.

Thanks for a great video with the safety tips. I knocked my trailer off the block under the tongue. So....here I go to do this with high hopes and safety in mind.

Its great for jacking up trailers, I broke my trailer jack and had to use this to set it on my ball hitch, worked great! just be careful it can rock over if your not careful , thanks for watching

I put wheel chalks behind the wheels (like my dad taught me to along time ago) before I started. All went smoothly and I got it far enough off the ground to get another block under it. I was careful to stay away from the handle. Couldn’t get it to go down at first. Watched the video again and kept trying. Got it thanks to these good instructions.

One thing that would help is to cover the lifting pins, other pins, and orientation as they have a 45degree wedge to them. Trying to practice with some dry runs and struggling.

I recently bought a Hamer car lift which has one side of these on each corner. It’s absolutely leathal, relying totally on separate safety pins onto which it crashes instead of “walking “ down on the pins.

A 48 inch or a heavier 60 inch? Is a hi lift jack better than a badlands or other brand jack?

Bigger the better. Some times there is so much concrete in the ground I just cut the post off and move to a different location for my new post. We typically put about 5 bags of concrete in per post. That 250lbs ish. You would need a machine to pull that out safely. So if there’s concrete I would recommend leaving it and moving over. Hope that helps

i'm not sure, I think you would have to be very careful where you are lifting. and once you get it lifted you would want to put it on blocks i would think.

I know this is an old Post but anyhow, the only thing this video lacks in my opinion and this is my personal rule of thumb but I think it should be everybody's. Never get under anything supported by a high lift Jack, really and truly you should never get under anything held up by a jack. Jack it up and use jack stands
