I am getting married in April and will start one then for a year to represent our first year of marriage! I am thinking of using our wedding colors as a base color scheme for the blanket! I’m so excited!!
im doing a relationship blanket for my husband and I anniversary. I started it on our anniversary and it will go a year to our next anniversary and instead of temperature. it's how our day went. i.e "good, affectionate, rough,ok,content, date night, etc.
Great tips! Your blanket is beautiful! If you don't like weaving in the ends, Anya, creator of Ophelia Talks, has a great tutorial to make an enclosed border so you don't have to weave in the ends. It is the May 13, 2020 episode. I hate weaving in the ends and found this very useful.
I decided to make one for my step daughter for the year of her birth 1995. I chose 20 colors. Started 2 days ago I’m almost at the end of January. So far so good. It’s fun and I know she will appreciate it ❤
I am currently in the middle of crocheting myself a mood blanket for my last 2 semesters in uni. But now upon seeing this and a whole bunch of other inspos for temp blanket it makes me wanna make one! The city where my uni is located is notoriously infamous for its hot and humid temperature. So that makes me wanna make another blanket alongside my mood one, only this one would be a half a year blanket documenting the highest temp of the day in that city until I graduate later this year! I think it's a good way to preserve a little bit of memory within this project. Thank you for the tips! It makes me feel more eager to do this! I'll update this comment later when I finally make this project a reality
I enjoyed learning about temperature blankets. I was hesitant about the colors as well. I'm glad you reminded us we don't have to do it the same as everyone else does. BTW The video editing is well done. Great job Peyton!
I am making a temperature snake for my first grandchild who was born January 3. 🩵 The first temperature blanket I made was in 2016. I used v-stitch. I also did a row for snow in sparkly white. Anyways, it came out to be 6’ x 20’!!! I will tag you in my stories on Instagram. It was even longer than my sectional couch! Since then I have made smaller temperature blankets to donate to an animal shelter. I really love the idea of recording the temperature with yarn. It’s hard to stop once you’ve been in the habit of. Great job with the video. Your colors are so pretty & your blanket is beautiful! 🩷
I AM SOOOOO TORN!!! I have been drawn to the idea for quite some time - I’ve started a Pinterest board, I’ve (mostly) decided on style and colors; even the “way”…yaddayadda. Lol. I just can’t decide! I will say, THANK YOU for frank, honest discussion about your project! I’d love to hear and see more, for sure! Appreciate it all! Happy holidays and merriest first Christmas as a married couple! ☺️🎄🫶🏻🧶
I’m waiting for the new shipment of yarns to hit the shelves, within the next couple weeks. I’ll start when I get my yarn. It’s only February 3rd & I feel catching up won’t be a problem. I’m very excited.
I’m finally starting my blanket after changing my why I’m doing it. I’m not tracking the temperature but rather using the temperature to create my “blanket of many colors “.
My very first crochet project in 2022 was a temperature blanket. BUT… I made a pre-natal temperature blanket for my new granddaughter. Starting with the day of conception, I crocheted a row a week until she was born(equaled 40 rows) It was a perfect 1st project. And the mom and baby still love it!
Oh good, but you can still make one for a current baby. You can find temperatures for past dates at Weather Underground History. Just punch in your area and dates. Since my granddaughter was conceived on Friday and due on Friday, i took the average temp for each Friday until she was born. Good luck😊
Great video! I've been planning my first temperature blanket and a tip that I have is to keep a notebook of everything related to it. Hook or needle size, temperature gauge, the yarn you're using, etc. etc. I'm using the Brava worsted yarn on knit picks, and I was able to catch it during a black friday sale and got two of each color (20 skeins of yarn!) for just a little over $50. That's 4,360 yards! So there's definitely some benefit in planning early to catch those sales lol. I can't wait to see your blanket once you've finished December and weave in all the ends! I love all the colors!
Omg ! Yee! I was waiting for your video this whole week so happy to see it🎉 my daughter is 12 and also crochets alot and is planning to do an temperature blanket so this is totally inspiring 😊
I used the linen stitch…my hubby said it looked like a rug! I frogged it (due to not liking the stitch or the amount of colors) and used about 8 colors as opposed to 11or 12. Which gave it more of a color block appearance as opposed to random daily colors due to temp fluctuations. I switch to a mini bean stitch which used a little more yarn but it is prettier.
Instead of weaving in all of those ends, maybe you could find yarn in one of the colors of your wedding and do a boarder in that! That could make it more special and would be another tie to the year. 🙂
Thank you for all of your ideas and inspiration! I have seen the temperature blankets but did not have the motivation or time this past year. I think you just changed all of that for me lol. I love the idea of making special rows for important dates! My husband and I got married in January too and it was freezing pouring rain that turned into a storm and knocked out the electricity when I was half way through curling my hair. Needless to say it was an interesting day all around. 😄 We will be married 39 years on January 25. I would love to see a video on creating one and what type of stitch is your preference. ❤
I was thinking of making multiple temperature blankets. White with darker colors for a wedding year, then having the year and last name tapestry crocheted into the blanket. Lighter colors for my children with Black for the name and year again tapestry crocheted into it. Lots of planning will be for those, but I know it would be fun
I’ve definitely thought about doing a temperature blanket. Thank you for this video and just basically saying I can do what I want and don’t have to follow the “rules”. Looking forward to your video about the details and pattern you used for your blanket!
I am still debating whether or not to do one temperature blanket mixed with special events because I know my 2024 is gonna be eventful and that is why I want to cherish those upcoming events. But at the same time I know it is going to be a busy year and I do not know if I can keep up with my rows. Thanks for uploading this video!
That’s totally understandable!! It is a big commitment! I would suggest picking one day of the week that you’re able dedicate a couple hours to just getting that whole week done! It’d be great to be able to mark your blanket with all the fun events! :)
I’m working on one that is for this year because I’m wanting to make one for my baby that is the year she is born in. Tempted to try and go back and see if I can find the temps for the year my son was born and make him one.
I’ve been meaning to start one next year. The price is definitely scaring me off lol, but since next year is a Leap Year, it just felt right. I’m personally using Dollar Store yarn for it! One skein can normally get me around three rows if I use a 5MM hook, and have about 180 stitches. That’s about $155! 😮 Part of me wonders if it would be cheaper to go with Joanne’s or something… One thing I saw was that for important days, they weaved in like a gold or a silver on the special day, which seemed really cool to me, so I’m thinking about doing that. I’d love to hear how many stitches you used, because I’m definitely curious about that!
Love this video I've never done a temple blanket. I manly crochet granny square blanket. I want to try some type of a temp blanket I'll use my go to red heart supper saver yarns I might try a few colors and make it easier like white for snow blue for cold, red for hot and a few other colors that are simple
I am still working on the temperature blanket that I started in 2022 for the 1st year I was married too. I started on our wedding day and looped back to the day before our 1st wedding anniversary. I had to take the summer off because it was so dang hot but I kept a log of the highs so I would know what to do when I picked it back up.
I’d love to make one but knitting it instead , just wondering how u go about it as I’m in uk and our temperature is well up n down ect n was going to ask how you determine what temperature u set for each day or is it done at a certain time sounds daft to ask xx
No worries, that’s a great question!! For me, I chose the singular high for the day, meaning I essentially looked back at each day of the week and checked what the highest temperature in my city was, and that was the temperature I went with!
I'm doing my temp blanket to destash. So if I run out of a color, I'm just changing my temp key card color with the color I have in my stash. I kept telling myself "no one needs to know" but now you guys know 😂
I made one several years ago and I used colors from my leftover yarn 🧶. It is quite ugly but I don’t care because I am the one who uses it. I am going to make a new one this year with granny squares and use colors that will blend in better.
I opted out of row each day - too big and costly. Instead I made 5” squares with average high & low, one each week. 52 + 12 month markets + birthday square + 2023 label + end of year. Almost ready to finish it now.
Thank you! Just finished my Oct thru Dec squares. Working on sewing strips together and will then add moss stitch border using my 9 colors. Will be glad to forward photo when finished if I have your email…
I really liked the idea of doing it the first year of marriage. If i was to do it for my further kids. I think i like the idea of doing it for the pregnancy, not the first year.

Yes
I want to do it in 2025

That’s such a nice idea! 😊
This is an amazing idea! I love it ❤️
That is such a great idea!! I think it'll be so lovely :)
What a cool idea
my biggest tip is don’t go to rehab and get 3 months behind and then try to catch up and get burnt out lmao
HAHAHAH needed this laugh!
hey, proud of you!!!
One day at a time. Hope it’s going well.
That would certainly set anyone back! I'm very proud of you! :)
My biggest tip is: DO go to rehab when you need it. Congrats. I hope you're doing well now
im doing a relationship blanket for my husband and I anniversary. I started it on our anniversary and it will go a year to our next anniversary and instead of temperature. it's how our day went. i.e "good, affectionate, rough,ok,content, date night, etc.
That's such a good idea! It will be amazing to look back on it after a year and reflect on how it all went :)
I’m doing an anniversary blanket, too! I’m including the temperature including wherever we went on vacations together :)

Hey I love doing these - but instead of a blanket I do a table runner! Use it for holidays
That's such a great idea!! ❤️

I chain 250 for each row!

There is a website that gives you temperatures daily for whatever year you want to do.
Yes!! That information is absolutely available online!!
I am making a blanket for 2024. What is everyone's thought about making a border for your blanket.
I really liked the idea of doing it the first year of marriage.

That'd be a great idea!
I researching I want to make one next week I turn 61 and I want call it 6162 stay tuned..
If you think a temperature blanket is expensive you’ve never made a quilt! 😀
I have! And they are definitely expensive and time consuming too!! But so pretty!
