    Story time: While I appreciate the digital music world, I still much prefer buying cds. One of my favourite things to do is just to go to a music store and buy a dozen random cds of bands or artists I know nothing about just for the sake of playing a funky kind of roulette to find new music. I'm making that investment in entire albums I've done no research on and it's always amazing. I especially love used cds where you find something like a sticker on the back where someone wrote down a note of their favourite tracks or how the cd cover is worn and used like a old book. You don't get any of this with digital purchases. Music isn't about convenience. It's about the experience.
    So, if nothing else, as our fearless leader here has stated, go out and buy some cds or vinyl while you can. Buy them randomly like I do. Make those investments in badass physical pieces of musical history.

      I like doing this too. Here in the UK they’re practically giving away CDs for as little as .25p in some places. I can go to a store and get 5 or 6 for around £1 and it’s amazing. I never find CDs that have been writing on but I do like to gamble of some albums depending on the name of the band and album cover.

    This applies to Video Games, T.V, Movies, and even Books now too. Companies love digital because they have complete control over the product. Digital is inevitable, but the rights of the consumer need to be respected. No excuses.

      Same here. I like actually owning something when it comes to music, not just a little 2 inch thumbnail on my phone. But it's true, a lot of music that was released on CDs have yet to be uploaded on digital streaming sites so that's several eras on music just completely gone.
      That's terrible. Myspace had some really great music. A lot of which I know I'll never be able to find again no matter how hard I try.
      And I can't answer the music question till the next video!

    i think it's smart to have an external drive with all your favorite stuff... i just use youtube for all my music, and everyday when i'm going through my favorites list... there is something else removed and i cant even figure out what it is... things from years ago that i knew i would eventually come back to, and now i might never hear it again... it's sad, but life goes on.
    i think eventually, there won't even be albums anymore... "artists" will just release songs as they make them... so, yeah this is just normal to me.

    • @CleverMetaphor
      @CleverMetaphor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      also, sunspots reversed :) love that song

    • @CDPunk
      @CDPunk  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hate that too. I can never figure out what was deleted. And the same thing happens if you choose to cancel your apple music subscription, or even change it to a different country. It call goes away and you have to start all over again. Even your playlists are deleted. That's one of the reasons I started making videos on my playlists every few months. That way if I ever lose them, I can just look on the channel to see what I was listening to.
      In a way many top artists are already just releasing singles. It's not really their fault though, they'll get the same amount of attention for releasing a new song as they would an entire album. People have such short attention spans that if you release a new single every few weeks it keeps your audience more engaged as opposed to releasing multiple songs all at once.

    Recent allegations? R Kelly has been on the prowl for decades , M’Lady should have done some research back in 2013.
    The Southpark Trapped in the closet episode is around 15 years old , R Kelly was diddling way before that .
    To anyone who hasn’t watched that South Park episode i highly recommend it 😉

      Danny B I honestly don’t know that much about it. I don’t really care for him so I was never bothered to look into it but I do remember there being a tape that surfaced from the 90s.

    • @Danny-wv8ec
      @Danny-wv8ec 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn’t criticizing you or your content , on the contrary i love Cd Punk ☺️.
      I was criticizing Lady Gaga , everyone knows about R Kelly’s deeds since the 90s , some African American artists and the community have been boycotting his music since the 2000s and even stopped listening to their favorite songs of his. My point was Lady Gaga was wrong to collaborate with him back in 2013 .
      But i know you’re video’s purpose was something entirely different and forgive me for going on a tangent .

    Ok so I love this particular topic and I have many examples of what's is known as 'music revisionism'.
    Ok so as you were saying about rights issues and I got a great example. The lead single from Prince's amazing album The Gold Experience is currently missing from all streaming services because of a plagerism allegation.
    As for an artist taking a song away Bowie did it on Never Let Me Down with the song Too Dizzy because he hated it
    Also the 80s ZZ Top remasters had that big crash drum sound over the old songs for consistency.

    • @CDPunk
      @CDPunk  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are some great examples. I know another one. The bassist on the first few Ozzy records is no longer with the band so they actually re-recorded them so they wouldn't have to pay him.

    • @seanm1955
      @seanm1955 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't they take a track from a recent remaster of a GNR album because it was really racist also?
      But yeah music revisionism is why I either get CDs or download MP3 files so they can't be altered. Been doing it since I heard The Doors remasters from 2007 that annoyingly changed aspects of it like adding outtakes back in and modernising the sound slightly.

    • @CDPunk
      @CDPunk  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't know about those either. This goes a lot deeper then I thought but at least the original versions of these are still available. I can only imagine how it will be in the future when they're no longer making CDs.
