im so frustrated, i have an Alfa 53 with an apparently identical take up lever that this one in the video, the machine is in perfect condition and it sews perfectly after cleaning and oling it BUT the take up lever hits some other part in every cycle ! it sounds very strong ans loud hits and i can't figure out what is wrong, do you know this particular problem ?
Open and check if the lever assembly round ball part at the top is broken. It can get worn out with coming in contact with face plate. You may need to purchase a new one part. I will upload a tutorial for you soon on this.

I can send you pics or videos if you want but i don't really want to abuse much of your time so i will try to precisely summarize what i've experienced: My machine is an Alfa 53 and although very probably is 100% singer 15 clone internals it might have some differences. When i fugured out the loud banging noise was coming from the take up lever area i just removed it and actually the noise was gone; the lever piece aparently seems in good condition (it has that little spinning wheel that goes inside the channel of the gear (i don't know the proper name of this piece) but it's all metalic, no that white cover you are replacing in your video, anyway it seems there is not any missing white cover in that little wheel, nevertheless i thought the only thing i was able to do is to improvise some little tube to cover that wheel and increase its diameter, and thats what i did but... with a plastic cover, and after pushing a bit because it was tighter, i placed the lever on it's track again and... it worked ! no noise... for 10 seconds haha... obviously the plastic attachment got destroyed quickly... and my conclusions now are pointing point to 1: change or properly modify the lever or 2: check the tracking gear for possible imperfections in the track... sorry about my long text but ironicly i just want to save you time by properly explaining the problem, i can send you some pic or video, and you don't feel compromised, you've already helped me a lot.
