My grandfather was in the 101st Airborne during the second world war but he was with a different company but he knew all those guys well especially Doc Row because my grandfather was also a medic. While my grandfather was lying in the hospital dying he was very unresponsive to any type of stimulus but when I asked him if he was in Bastogne his eyes immeediately opened. I got to enjoy 1 more year with him after that and he finally told me his WW2 stories. Somethings people never forget....
RIP Major Dick Winters. You were not only a hero to me but a inspiration. You inspired me to become someone that I never thought I would become. There are very few people like him on earth and with over 1000 WWII veterans dying a die, I say we all thank one as soon as possible. Don't be embarrassed to say thanks to a veteran cause god knows we all enjoy it. I don't fight for the government.....I fight for the founding fathers and for the people living in America.
this is one of the best war movies i've seen in a long time. i thank the men who died to give use the freedom we have today. to bad we have people running around the streets abusing that right
Great video, HomemadeMuffins. My 12 year old son was obsessed by Band of Brothers and I watched it as a result. Now it is my favorite show of all time - these men are, individually, some of the most amazing men in history. Winters, Buck, Speirs, Guarnere, Lip... I just wish all of them could have seen the war through. Truly tragic for Muck, Penkala, Dukeman... God bless them....
Ah, it really cracks me up to see so many people condemning Germans, when the Americans seem to have forgotten what they did to the Native Americans, what the English did to the Indians. No one is any more guiltier than the other. We had concentration camps set up in Canada and American for those of German, Japanese, and Italian descent, and those people interred in said camps were, by and large, INNOCENT, except for their heritage.
This series is amazing and to think that it actually happened, it gives me chills. It makes me think of the war today i dont know if it is as bad but still my heart goes out to the heroes of WW1, WW2 and the soldiers of today.
i also hate the way people comment on youtube saying what their favorite battlefield is. alot of people died in those "favorite battlefields". i am lucky that i lived through an experience that forever scarred my mind
i like to see healthy banter! its drilled into you in training that whoever you join are the best! i think in this case we worked together and conquered the enemy!
All i have to say is respect those who diserve it. American, British, French, Russian, Japanese, Italian, German. They all had brave and respectful men in their ranks. Rommel, Erich Hartmann, Isoroku Yamamoto, Saburo Sakai, General George S. Patton, and many others.
we do owe respect to the men who died in WWII. also, in Vietnam, no one actually won. It was a stalemate, we simply had to pull back because of the casualties on both sides, and the war was losing support from the U.S.
@thenrp2 I agree with you 100%! Its so sad when you think about it....theses young boys being sent out to see the worst of the worst and if they are lucky enough to survive then they have to go the rest of their lives living with what they did and/or saw. I think being a soldier is the most noble, patriotic, and selfless thing anyone could do and they deserve all of our respect (especially WW2 soldiers).
wow what a great video!! when your watching this you really have to think about what these poor guys went through...it must have been HELL!!!!! i mean...this series (band of brothers) does look really really bad but...it would have been like 10x worse than that! i love this series and i ahev watched it bout 6 times now xD great vid and great song keep it up bro =]
I resoect those guys and i am very interest in the band of brothers because my grand father in holland net one of them i dint know the name now but he was from the band of brothers he met him in eindhoven he died last year...
@The105ODST mine fought the germans in the battle of Bastogne, Belgium. Never talked about it for the rest of his life, and died before i was born. Its all too bad we cant learn the stories from our own family members about wars and life favors. Peace be with you
It could refer to how most of the soldiers missed their family and loved ones when faced with danger. After wall back then they were drafted and given quick military training instead of now when most have it as a proffession.
war is stupid...I fought in 3 wars, Philippines, Gulf and Iraq...today we gained ground, tomorrow? Who can say, maybe it will repeat itself, some bad guy will be there again...they'll gain ground, we'll gain ground all at the cost of so many lives. Its all about lines, this is my line that is your line you move it I move it...
"Suicide by enemy fire" refers to guys who found out their wife/girlfriend was dumping them for somebody else back home. Many of them fell into depression and then deliberately did something unsafe (stand still in the open, charge a machine-gun position from directly in front when there were other options, some even walked around shouting for the Germans/Japanese to shoot them, saying they had nothing worth living for anymore) to get themselves killed.
hmmm i havent really watched much of speilbergs earlier stuff. the late Dr. Ambrose also wrote Pegusus Bridge which was about the British 6th Airborne capture a bridge near Caen and many other great books u should check out.... do they hav a books-a-million in Finland?

We're lucky we got attacked by Japan cause without us they would've failed. If WW2 is a laughing matter to you, you better check your life. Beautiful vid, very well done. Band of Brothers is one amazing mini-series. My favorite. Go join the army and see how it is. Then talk.
guarnere: hey web, what, whaddya call the letters dat the broads send? webster: uh, dear john letter guarnere: that's it, a dear babe letter. ha! ah good old guarnere
Mate if you look at History books it does actually say that they are deployed in the ARDENNES region of france if you dont know where that is its where the Battle of the Bulge took place.
Actually it was never confirmed that Speirs shot the POWs. All that was confirmed is that it was a LT from the 506th PIR who carried a Thompson. Speirs fits that loose description, along with about a dozen other men. Nobody who saw the incident recognized the officer, and Speirs would never confirm or deny it, regardless of rumors or suspicions. Major Winters thought Spiers did it. Sgt Guarnere and Sgt Malarkey thought it was somebody else (read all of their books). Who knows?
uh ok i guess most everyone has never been in history class. it was becasue of the americans AND the russians AND the british that we won the war. we would have lost if any of those three had not helped. so pay respect to the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to save the world and respect everyone who helped stop hitler. -sgtoox

Band of Brothers is the best series! I honor the men who fought in that War.

A solider once said to Captain Winters and they were surronded. Captain Winters reply was "We're paratroopers, we're suppose to be surronded."
