I don't fall asleep to your channel, I just listen to it while at work because it keeps my mind awake during mundane work activities. I don't mind the blank screen or visuals.
Brother the last thing you had to do was anything at all. You can duplicate stories even on purpose and we still love your content. Don’t worry man! Mort honest opinion, my wife and I fall asleep to your stories almost every night and it works best for us who need dark when we sleep but have a SO that needs tv and sound. This channel is the perfect compromise for couples like us and with picture/light its no longer a suitable compromise.
If he does put a video feed on, you could attach a piece of cardboard to cover the screen. Or even find a box (or create one) to slide over. I think it'd be worth it :).
Even as an adult there's something truly scary about basements. I live in one, lol and sometimes at I think I see a shape moving around... it's weird. My wife has seen it and so has my brother when he came by one early morning while it was still dark. I still love it anyways!

South Texan here, first time I saw a basement I was about 20 years old back in 1998 or so. My husband and I were dating at the time and we drove up to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving. Never seen one since lol
Basements can be pretty creepy, theres something about being in a unfamilar basement during the night that just creeps me out.

I live in one of the few places in the world without daylight savings! It's ok, if you don't mind it being pitch dark at 9:30 in the morning all winter (the sun goes down at 4 pm!). Cheers Warren, who thinks the darkness has a little to much control when it's still hanging around at breakfast!

Growing up I never really felt comfortable in basements. My uncle would lock me in and turn off the lights anytime he felt like I was being rowdy. It was the worst. Now as an adult I REFUSE to go into basements.

Adding visuals for those who need it doesn't seem problematic ( I listen in bed and can just min the light). For me though.. I have noise induced hearing loss w age. Any ppl over 40 may have some degree of it. Adding rain or other background noise will muffle your voice . Something to consider.. thanks your all the wonderful hours of content

You know you got me when I have to exit the video and watch something funny and happy so I can sleep.
Personally I like the dark screen and if there is rain played very quietly in the background. some are playing the ambience noises too loud.. if you have background play on TH-cam premium, I can always just tap my on-off button and the screen goes dark anyway and I can still hear you.

I'm one of those that listens to your stories during school so my phone is technically in my pocket. So dark screen, visuals doesn't bother me either way. I missed the train video so please upload it again I would love to hear it. Thanks from a grateful fan that loves to "let the darkness take control".
It's a shame that TH-cam doesn't give users the option to choose a dark screen whether the creator has put together visuals or not. Seems like it would make things easier for a lot of people: whether they like to listen as they fall asleep or like to watch during the day

im also fond of ambient nature sounds during your videos so i usually just open another tab and put rain, a fireplace, snowstorms and whatnot. It would be cool though to see either.
I'm Australian, we don't have basements, but I have been in one when I went to the USA, I hated it, it's scary af.

Re the story about the realtor and the dread feeling of the cement room
I had this feeling at Berry Pomeroy Castle … in S/W England ( Aussie ) … there is a story of a noblewoman who was kept prisoner in the Green Lady turret… they say the turret makes recording equipment malfunction.
Personally… the turret felt clear to me
But there are these symmetrical staircases down to the dungeon
It’s well lit, it’s not dark. It’s painted white, or it’s white stone. Not creepy.
I got halfway down those stairs and felt a sense of dread so acute it crested on panic.
I tried the other stairs - I had the same feeling.
I never did explore the basement.
My feeling is it wasn’t the turret where suffering was felt.
One of these days I’ll get my act together and send my swag of stories Mort.
