Absolutely! Unfortunately Harry has enough money and clout to create his own reality. My 2nd husband came from a well-off family and he thinks the same way. No one who questions his " reality " is welcome around him.
I find it weird that people are claiming this was supposed to be a therapy session when the people involved like Gabor Maté called it a conversation. He's had many conversations about trauma with many different people to raise awareness about all the different nuances and talk about potential causes / effects and what the person he's talking to found to be helpful. He has also made it clear numerous times that he is not a trauma expert but is just interested in learning more about trauma due to his personal and professional experience. Just because this time he's talked to Harry people are either distorting what he said or reading way too much into every little thing.
Like Chris Rock said, if the emergency room is filled with people who have paper cuts, how will the heart attack victim get through? As people like Harrie and Megan promote the idea of everybody is a victim of trauma, Then what is to make a victim of real trauma stand out enough to be seen, heard, and lifted up by society?
Doubtful rich and entitled would go to the emergency room they have private medical practitioners on call..which did Michael Jackson and Elvis a lot of good didn't it?.
When a young child loses a parent that is considered trauma. It's very difficult for children to process those emotions and often cannot until they are older.
Look up the psychological term: “Wound Collector”. Harry diagnosed right there, 100%. Therapy will never help, he doesn’t want to get past, he wants to reside there as a victim.
When I saw he was selling viewing his session I thought what kind of professional therapist would be okay with that? Then I thought how freely can one talk when one knows there is a paying "audience" which means there is a requirement to perform and entertain, not to get well. Then the bold, front and centre promotion for his poorly selling book and it was obviously merely another publicity stunt. 🙄 Can we please make him go away now?
Harry problem is simple . "Deep down he is angry at his mother dying and leaving him so young " As for no hugs : He and William were brought up by nannies , while his mother was off mating with married men and working the "Yacht Scene " .
@Sam Young Imo, on the surface, he is angry William was born first. He shows himself to be, jealous, petulant, abusive and unstable. He uses his mother as an excuse for his disgusting behaviour.
Having been in therapy with a fabulous therapist, her goal was to show me how to cope and live a healthy life. Therapy fails if it becomes a lifestyle crutch of blaming others and lack of moving forward.
Exactly. It's nice to figure out what the trigger is for the negative feeling or behavior, but immediately, generally the therapist pivots to try to give you tools to get over the present-day feelings and give you tools to process it.
He’s actually changed my mind on therapy, he is a millionaire with all the resources, yet, he’s not getting better. He’s not a great advocate for therapy actually helping. There is this type of therapy that doesn’t challenge just affirms your feelings but doesn’t actually DO anything. So many ppl in my life have had this type of therapy that does nothing unless you just like to hear yourself talk. But as for “healing” it does nothing.
Yep. They’re actually paying for a continuous loop of bias confirmation. Feels good, but changes nothing. So they must always go to “therapy,” year after year. Give me one wise possibly older friend who can kick my butt on occasion!
Money is a component to live a comfortable life but it doesn’t guarantee happiness. The dude is being played and he is in his right to feel his emotions like anyone. Emotion doesn’t discriminate regardless of your status, fame or money
If Harry admitted to being a drug addict then someone needs to call "Child Protective Services" to check up on those kids. Also, by doing so it will allow us to find out if they exist.
Nobody asks "how much" or "how often are you high?" California has a weed culture. Maybe why he downplays other drugs to focus on cannabis is because of its California legality? Some people think Meghan's referencing about making Harry "roast chicken" is a sexual innuendo, but there are also a few who think it could be the rap reference for coccaine. Who knows? Does it really matter at this point if the kids exist, I mean isn't that their problem, not ours?
This "celebrity therapist" has worked many decades with the most down and out and homeless people in Canada. He has helped many of them. Maybe not at fire side, but certainly in an office out of the cold and rain and yes, this same Gabor Mate.
Maybe he has helped many people, but this interview with Harry was a joke. It was at best a sales commercial for both of their books. Selling trauma is lucrative business these days because everyone wants to be a victim and participate in the oppression Olympics. Also he is not a licensed therapist
Yeah I don't think it could ever have ended well to sit down with a massive narcisisit media manipulator in a highly visible media scenario. 🤔 what was gabor thinking?
Any one associated with Harry now, including a "professional therapist" just lost all credibility with me. They're in it for the money. H is suggesting we all need therapy....maybe he's getting a kick back trying to promote this nonsense 🇨🇦
My thought exactly! He's drummng up business for Better Up especially with his (baseless) claim 99% of people have unresolved issues, etc. Ka-ching Ka-ching
In the US most people feel everyone can benefit from Therapy, therefore I concluded those statements were the influence of the wife and DOria Ragland. I hope HIS therapist tells Harry to Run Like Hell Son
I wonder if Harry is stuck in the past because in 1997 when Diana passed - that was a time where he would have received a huge amount of love, attention, empathy and 'hugs' from the world. But then the world moved on and healed.....Harry didn't. He was left with the pain and forever on a subconscious level still trying get that love from the world again.
Harry had a loving family around him and access to the best doctors in the UK..William was also a loving brother to him,but Harry has always been a spoilt brat.
Gabor Maté was never trained as a psychotherapist or a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist or whatever mental health professional - he is a retired family physician (GP). 🤔 What he did in that "interview" would cost a therapist their license to practice. 🥴
@Maegi I agree. A mother came out today condoning the drug they are supporting. Her daughter died. My advice, boycott and ignore anything from the dumb prince and the stupid wife.
@@LNawka Exactly, Gabor is a fraud and very dangerous. Gabor was doing addiction treatment research using the Psychedelic medicine Ayahuasca with a lot of success, then Health Canada threatened him with arrest if he did not immediately stop his activities with what they claimed was a harmful illegal drug.
He's stuck emotionally & maturity wise at the age he was when Diana died. Hence the siege mentality re the press & seeing his wife as another Diana . The resentment at the pecking order had to be suppressed while his mother was alive because whenever she was talking about her children she stated that she wanted Harry to be Williams wingman. Then along comes Meghan who also resents the pecking order & that lit the touch paper.
Thank you. Therapy is not readily available and I appreciate you pointing this out . Harry is selling it as part of his contract with Better Up. People and their fans need to know that only a few can afford therapy and Harry is excluding us. To him it's a 5 star restaurant. Only the select can get a table and by the sounds of it Harry is having everything on the menu. So many people are suicidal and using hotlines and helplines manned by script reading volunteers, who yell people to go to ER. Harry has no idea how hard it is for the 99% he refers to . He is not living in the real world and never will. Most government health programs don't cover therapists or psychiatrists. So it's all lies ! But Harry doesn't care , he's found a new snake oil to sell and all it does is pad his bank account . Buyer beware.
Therapy is readily available in the U.S. and health insurance companies help pay for it. And thanks to Oduma, everybody in the U.S. has health insurance paid for by the working taxpayer and mostly used by the non-working taxpayer.
@@elliebellie7816 I wish we could all speak from our own personal experiences. That way maybe some day some of the problems we have, like access to health care could be solved in a way that is most cost effective. I live below the poverty line due to a once life threatening now chronic physical illness. Due to weaning off powerful medications that saved my life, I ended up with severe panic attacks which I need medicine to control. I had to find someone to prescribe this medication a couple of years ago. It took an entire month of online research to find someone who had availability to see me. I pay a hefty co-pay for each visit along with my medicare insurance. So I'm not quite in agreement with your statement. Have you actually tried to get therapy?
The world is so messed because we put so much trust and stock in what celebrities/rich people say . We don’t do our own research nor challenge what’s being said ..
I agree. However, I'm seeing more and more people moving away from this idealization thing. They are questioning things more, researching more, and getting healthier. But those who take what is spoon fed to them from the screen are still out there, and sadly they probably always will be.
Therapy is a lot different in the US. Psychiatrists are mostly only for people who need medication, and therapists are usually psychologists or social workers. Their offices are more comfortable and welcoming, and people go for different reasons: trauma, couples counseling, etc. But one iron clad rule is that it is PRIVATE. It never leaves the office unless the patient has committed or plans to commit a crime. You simply can’t have a therapist’s session on TV that is any good.
The problem with therapists as you describe in the U.S., are that they are often not medically trained professionals, and who lack the proper training to diagnose and effectively treat patients. In many cases, and I suspect in Harry’s, therapist(s) are a mere sounding board, and don’t delve into the patients’ character flaws, including responsibility for any trauma experienced or for life choices they’ve made. This includes unscrupulous therapists who seek repeat patients for financial gain. It is one area in health care that needs greater scrutiny and regulation. What Harry needs is proper and full psychiatric diagnosis, and therapy by an accredited “therapist” tied to a hospital or accredited medical clinic.
@@wombats5128 doesnt matter if it was a nice chat with friend or meeting with a psychiatrist. He was talking about his traumatical experiences - so it could be "therapeutic" moments
Without doubt it's real trauma losing a parent as a child while it's televised worldwide though. Along with the scrutiny of the whole sad situation because he's part of the Royal Family! Who knows if Prince Harry received therapy as a child for that. Maybe his speaking out now is his therapy.
in therapy while going through a divorce - asked the therapist, how long do I continue these sessions? Her answer was perfect, when you have nothing more to say. And I hit that time where I could say, yeah it's all good and that was that., To keep rehashing is to keep reliving and is not healing.
I grew up in an era where psychologist tended to always blame our parents for our issues. I think the industry really failed us all in this regard. I often think of a 15th century citizen complaining about their parents... I think they would have received a rude awakening about reality and life. I apologized to my mom for blaming her for my problems and we discussed this aspect. Our parents are only victims of their environments during their childhood and down the chain it goes. So yeah, there is some truth to some situations, but in general and upon reflection, I think that psychoanalytical perspective failed many families. You can't heal if you are blaming someone else.
Very rightly said! Mums and dads are just people trying to deal with their own circumstances with their own biased emotions, etc plus deal with another's individual personality traits, thinking and emotions! Not easy!
@Brandy Baker yeah sure if they are pot smoking addicts, etc. But an ordinary working mum or dad who is a bit harried or distracted trying to hold a job, pay bills, etc. taking up the kid's schoolwork, etc THAT'S the parent I am referring to! And that's 99 percent of parents!
@Brandy Baker Yes parents that abuse their children Harry's Mother spoilt him she said so herself so is she to blame he never blames her for anything he has an unhealthy appreciation of her turned her into a Saint and his Father the bad one both were and are only human
Thank you for your perceptive analysis. I found this “presentation” of Harry and Maté to be more of an infomercial more than anything else. Both of them were selling books and the Dr. also hawking his practice. They encouraged subscribers to send in questions while only a few (and weak ones at that) were read. Who could take this seriously? It hurts, rather than helps, those individuals who really need help, both in terms of therapy and drug rehabilitation!
Thankyou for giving a sober sane professional opinion on what is clearly an absolutely bonkers dumpster fire of a media event?public therapy session?book promotion scam? Kudos for keeping a straight face throughout.i just cant w harry anymore!
It was kind of Dr. Persaud not to point out that Dr. Mate is not a licensed therapist --- although I suppose that is all too obvious, given that Mate rendered a diagnosis of Harry based on reading a ghostwritten, commercial life story and watching The Crown! 🤣😂🤣
Harry can afford some of the top therapists in the US. I'm sure what they charge is alot, there is no incentive to them for him to get better. He is a constant source of revenue.
First : read dr Mate's books, then call him - "so called doctor." I am not interested in royals nor celebrety of any kind, but hearing this interview - Prince has sounded like a human being, unlike other royals .
@@nundechen thanks I didn't know that. Unfortunately it was widely touted in the media as an online therapy session. Gabor Mate diagnosing Harry with ADD and PTSD seems to have added to that impression. Maybe your hunch about their mutual publisher is on the money - who knows?
Dr Gabor Mate is highly regarded for his trauma work and very experienced in the US. I live in the US. Dr. Mate has helped many veterans. I am sure being filmed for TV made it different than a usual session. This whole royal mess is kind of like a very sad circus.
@@lindseyfraser4408 Nobody is above public criticism, not even the Royal family or anyone with the title of Doctor. Especially when both are so obviously selling "trauma" for financial gain. The interview was a joke.
I feel there were two reasons for this particular 'conversation'. The obvious one is that both of these men have the same publisher and this publisher has a history of 'persuading' their clients to support each other when there are books to be sold. The second is that Harry has had so much negative feedback on his drug abuse confessions that he needed a 'respectable authority' to vindicate his past, present, and for all we know, future addictive behaviour.
Dr Raj! The voice of reason, where have you been these last crazy years? I used to watch you regularly in the 90's on day time tv when the world seemed a sort of normal. It's a good omen that you are back 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm disappointed with Gabor Mate for diagnosing Harry solely from the reading of his book. They had not established a therapeutic relationship. This was very shallow. Mate agreeing to televising this "conversation" seemed unethical to me. The therapeutic process is based on the safety of privacy. This felt like a showcase for Harry to convince us that he's doing just fine in life despite harm done to him by his loved ones. It was strategic. Mate got more public exposure for his commercial enterprises like books and lectures. The whole exchange was unsavory to me.
Woody Allan has similarly engaged in psych-therapy his whole life. It becomes a life-crutch, like smoking, rather than a treatment with a perceived end.
Both Streisand and Allen were in analysis which, unlike most types of psychotherapy, is not short term. One can be in analysis for decades and twice weekly sessions are common for those that can afford them.
Analysis or not, narcissists love therapy. They love to be perpetual victims, complaining to a person who never gets tired, never challenges them or confronts them. Many narcissists use a partner or child as their "therapist". This is a fundamentally exploitative relationship.
to paraphrase an Australian in a movie I saw (don't remember which one) An American talking about his therapist and the Australian says DON'T YOU HAVE ANY MATES? 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
First off you need to cut that music out when your speaking Doctor. I've been involved in music most of my life .I can ell you for a fact that the Audio on that Therapy interview was doctored. The speed the movement interaction Etc. The reason I've no doubt is Harrys speech, sentences are not thought through and he knows what's coming but it is to disguise the slurring of words with attention you can see where it has been done. At one point says HAVE when he clearly said HAVE NOT the word has been cut and the camera used at that point is at distance but watch closely and the body mannerisms give the NOT gesture. They simply chopped the word. You can shape audio sound and tone as well to disguise the speech drag and that is definitely at work here. The reason is obvious the Guy harry is on something 100 % You see it often with regular pot smokers, there timing goes it is the first stage on the road to psychosis and all the rest.
Well explained Dr Raj. The purpose of this "therapy session", "was to promote their books. Also for Harry to assign" drug therapy" label to his past /present addictions.
If only Harry has stopped screaming into a pillow.Maybe for all our mental health he should be encouraged to stop boring us with his endless complaining and go back to screaming into pillows.
If you're of a certain age, I suspect the absurdity H & M is reminiscent of John and Yoko. It really does feel like "this again?": The ultimate Primal Scream;. That "dirty laundry" screed; the drugs and alcohol to self-medicate; and The Abuse and Racism YOKO suffered whilst in the UK. Sadly, that episode didn't end well; I hope this duo do not end tragically, but I can't imagine how it won't.
Some years ago, my home was broken into while I was asleep. I was attacked, beaten, strangled, and other things too terrible too mention, and left for dead by two home invaders. As someone who has suffered from PTSD for years, remind me not to consult YOU for therapy. Or philosophy.
Mate is a rather famous person, I'd say the shocking thing is WHY on Earth he decided to take part in this farce! And even worse - why he decided to 'diagnose' Harry, even if he doesn't have any formal qualifications to do it. Not to mention, that Mr. Mate had problems some time ago with using ayahuasca in his therapy, which is illegal in Canada. I don't like Harry, but I perceive him as a victim of medical abuse right now.
Dr. Gabor Maté is a respected addictions counsellor. He's helped a lot of people and he's already very famous internationally among people who are interested in the kind of books he writes on self-care and parenting. I'm utterly perplexed why he participated in this humiliating stunt with Prince Harry.
This is a psychiatric view, which specialises in so called 'mental illness', not trauma, emotions, child development, and certainly not talking therapy approaches. Healthy to critique Dr Mate just as it is to do so with this fellow.
The latest edition to the worldwide privacy tour!..broadcasting his therapy sessions..Raj making sense here..I couldn't hear to listen myself!thanks Raj!❤
I agree. I liked gabor mate. I even bought his new book. He has lost all creditable pandering to Harry's delusions. Just like oprah Winfrey, it will damage his career.
Can we have Dr Ramani interviewing Meghan Markle. That would be worth watching! Henry needs to go on the NHS. He would have 8 sessions, and get on with your life. That is after waiting months for his turn.
I’m a grandma and looking at the world today and all the relationship problems i very seriously think most people have some form of mental health problem. Let’s face it, if you don’t have one in todays world, your not worthy🤦🏼♀️🤪🇬🇧
Is there any human alive for any length of time who has not had some sort of trauma. Nobody dies, nobody gets ill, no body is abused and all people we encounter are normal and sane what universe does this psychiatrist inhabit. He is definitely someone I would not want to see if I had a problem.
I had significant trauma in my young life and spent 20+ years in therapy, most in individual therapy, once in a group setting. What I noticed in this video is that the posture of the two was not consistent with how people sit with a therapist. Leaning forward into each other just doesn't happen. Ever. This was staged and scripted. It was a disgusting fabrication of what therapy is like. The more we hear from Harry, the more despicable he becomes. What a freaking disaster of a person.
All the things he’s done to heal and all negative people have to say is comment negative thoughts . By the way beating a pillow and screaming does help. That’s why some rather go to the gym and beat a punching bag. Some people call him spoiled , etc. it doesn’t matter that he was born in a royal family. He still a human being and all the hurt he went thru as a child can be quite traumatic. Mental health is real people . Stop the bullying and start supporting. I applaud him for being open . Imagine not being allowed to mourn your own mother’s death. Having to put on a brave face in front of millions. Some say “ well William lost he’s mom too”. But not everyone is the same. Love you Harry
Six months waiting when ur suicidally depressed. Then some excruciating talks in the smallest room ever. No windows! That hospital green on the wall. No air. No understanding…
Mate is a GP, if you see one in Canada for an issue you get a presription, certainly not dialogue about your issue-in/out. I cannot understand why Mate agreed to do this, if not to promote his new book, co-written with his son, who is not a trained professional but calls himself a mental chiropractor who charges you to talk to him on the phone while you go for a walk-ugh!
I respect Dr. Gabor Maté's work. He's done a lot of medical intervention, deep contemplation, research and writing, not to mention having helped a lot of addicted souls who were lost in a cruel system. He's helped a lot of people for whom conventional psychiatry didn't work. I was shocked to hear that he would participate in Prince Harry's 'world privacy tour'. Why he'd throw away some of his credibility for this circus escapes me. And saddens me. Gabor Maté's already famous. He doesn't need a fake therapy session on the internet to feed his ego, one would hope. I'm trying to imagine what value he sees in doing this kind of stunt.
Mate is only a retired MD .Not a licensed mental health expert. He has been in trouble In Canada for his views and advice..He should be charged for this bogus desplay.
I had ptsd for years. Last year I was told I was finally told I don't need therapy after 30 years of pain. Thanks to forgiving those who harmed me, good people, moving forward and Jesus; the ultimate example of forgiveness even to those who destroyed you (or tried). Never give up people :) it's a miracle I'm alive.
If Harry wanted me to be his therapist, he, would have to come to me. That is at the heart of his problem. If the therapist is subjugated to Harry, why would he ever respond to any challenge from the therapist. Agree with you totally about psychedelic drugs.

I think Dr.Persaud is right about people adopting therapy as a way of life, a substitute religion if you like. I noticed such an incredible number of people on Reddit relate to that they have had "therapy" without explaining what model of therapy they think is successful. The average British person is probably more likely to turn to TV, soccer, pets, the pub, or maybe religion than to pay somebody for expensive talk therapy.
I turned to my pets and adopting rescues to help me heal. People think it is a mental illness but I found it to be therapeutic. I’m a better person and have much empathy for the less fortunate. Thank you Dr. Persaud.
@@Dimple_5 he was suspended for three months by the gmc, not struck off the register. He practices in Harley Street, as well as lecturing at University of London.
Dr Gabor believes that society in general is traumatized and that the social aspect of trauma is not recognized enough. I recall a book Trauma and Recovery which very bravely touched on that decades ago. A society that believes in punishment, to purposely hurt snd damage someone else as a sign of love. And many other signs of sickness as society. Where the sin is to expose uncomfortable truths, and not the truth themselves, but the exposure.
I watched a small segment of a video Gábor Máté posted on alcoholism. I was absolutely shocked at his dismissal of alcoholism, being partially hereditary, a disease. He said that the primary cause of alcoholism is trauma. I would say this individual is stuck on the topic of trauma. He and Harry are a good fit. There’s no question that some addictions are fueled by trauma, and that substance abuse is self-medicating. But beyond that, I felt that Mr. Mate was in some other place and time.
He's right. Only dumb westerners think everything is genetic. Hence why you give your kids anti depressants and diagnose them with adhd for not sitting down in school 😂😂😂
I just feel sorry for those people who wrote praising essays for Harry’s book and confessed how helpful it was for them and their trauma. Can you imagine?
Why? they were paid to write the reviews by the publishers. Just like the "sugars" are paid to troll social media and write positive comments about H&M or rebut negative comments about H&M.
If it helped someone who needs it seek help then it's a good thing. If it's true, then it shows that good things can come from the most unexpected places.
Well I dare say I'm not the only one, but despite the usual sadnesses that I have experienced (family illness, death, breakups etc.) I do not feel remotely traumatised and am getting on with living and enjoying my life. The drugs have made Harry paranoid and addicted to therapy, IMHO.

I’ve got to say the therapist was extremely helpful and after my sessions, suggested a mindfulness course, which was also very helpful. But it was nothing like what was seen in this session.

I think what Harry has been doing might have turned people away from therapy. If they look at his life as a result of having therapy and talking about his problems has led him to be disliked, ridiculed and isolate from his family. What kind of advocate is that? As to the drugs, that is dangerous ground. Some people with drug addictions and have mental health issues will see that as permission to go by drugs off the street. He can warn people to do it with a doctor but that isn’t the part that will influence their decision.
I agree with your comments. As a former psych evaluator (usually Baker Acted clients with the criteria of "harming yourself or someone else"). The evaluation consisted of a 2 hour interview and 20 handwritten pages of notes from the conversation. It was nothing like the "fireside chat" to which you refer. Harry was not at all deferential to the trauma doctor and, in fact, tried to correct Dr M. I was surprised when Dr M listed the 4 diagnoses, but neglected to mention drug & alcohol abuse/addiction. So many of my former clients had dual diagnoses, like bipolar disorder plus alcohol abuse. He didn't ask what kind of prescription had Harry taken in the past or recently. I was disappointed Dr M was not very interactive with Harry. Like you mentioned, Dr M did not take the opportunity to draw more answers out of Harry. It was a disappointing interview, and as you may agree, Harry was rationalizing his use of drug taking and giving the viewer a way of rationalizing their own use of drugs. Thanks for your comments.
which if you are needy and seeking "mothering/daddying/attention craving is understandable -most of us do not get an hour of someone listening sympathetically to our issues....so totally can see why he would be hooked-he has never become an independent adult.
"The Therapist", is Gabor Matè a Canadian GP who has done a lot of work on how our pasts affect our lives as adult's. His theories are very much worth a listen or a read in one of his books.
He had 40 years of abuse. He did a couple of interviews and wrote a book telling his own story and people are still reading the daily rags about him, talk about an island full of whingers. I for one am shocked at how Brits are so hateful towards him. Tabloids called him thick for 20 years, I think it takes a good deal of smarts to fly an Apache helicopter. I'm sure there are tons of horrid things he could have said about his family but he didn't. There was nothing in that book that was that bad. As someone promoting mental health, he talks about it. Get used to it.
Why the heck does this guy think he needs to start punching or screaming into a pillow again for? He said he is happy and free thanks to his “exceptional” wife!
While I agree with some comments made here I am puzzled by the fact this guy doesn't seem to know Gabor Mate who has written several books on the effects of psychological stress and addiction. He has also filmed a documentary on ayahuasca - a psychedelic plant used in Amazonian healing ceremonies - so it's not exactly surprising that he agrees with Harry on this topic. Again, this psychiatrist is making some valid points here but has he done no research before filming this?

I am a therapist and I do endeavour to provide a comfortable environment with warmth & a sense of cosy …I understand some people do advocate a more clinical environment ..
I'm also stuck on why a big weight has been lifted by telling the whole world about his frozen bits, brotherly fights, and whatever else he stuck in that book. Basically he is saying "I was traumatized by others - due to the public life I'd been brought into - so by exposing myself over and over, and hurting others - it's made the world a better place, ... for me (me me me me me). This is the approach one of the characters in Silence of the Lambs used. He was abused so his idea of taking a load off was to beat and humiliate himself repeatedly. Then to get a hold of others to spread the pain, chaos, and fear around. It made him smile like Harry does in this clip actually. It's surreal the crap people are exposed to now-a-days.
Also why he needs to expose a young women he claim took him behind the Pub and have sex with him humiliate her he's not that angel he claim to be. He bad have a big mouth.
Thank you Dr Raj for explaining the perils regarding the kind of therapy in public given to Harry. I think we will need therapy for the trauma that H and M are inflicting on the B public and Ifeel sad for the RF.
In Uk under NHS there is therapy with psychologyst or psychiatrist is only offered for those severely struggling with various MH disorders blocking individuals from living functional lives. They do not give everyone chance and open ended time and number of sessions. The demant for MH serrvices in Uk had quadrupled and waiting list is huuuge for every MH services available! Harry is harping only to rich who can pay private therapist indefinitely.
Raj Persaaud doesn't know what he is talking about and Gabor Mate is world famous and an expert. Even though I don't like Harry since he's become woke I do understand the approach of Gabor Mate, which does not advocate catharsis. The point of getting things "out of your system" is the understanding how unresolved feelings and trauma get stuck somatically. Of course catharsis doesn't work, as this just implies a bleeding off of the energy, the whole point is that it has to be connected and the original trauma energy or memory worked with then it is healed. Raj Persaaud i'm sure like many psychiatrists is happy to dole out the anti depressants, and cannot offer a real resolution of past emotional issues, but Gabor Mate does. Plant medicines are fantastic at offering tools to do this and good for Harry for doing this.

Absolutely Agree
I find it weird that people are claiming this was supposed to be a therapy session when the people involved like Gabor Maté called it a conversation. He's had many conversations about trauma with many different people to raise awareness about all the different nuances and talk about potential causes / effects and what the person he's talking to found to be helpful. He has also made it clear numerous times that he is not a trauma expert but is just interested in learning more about trauma due to his personal and professional experience. Just because this time he's talked to Harry people are either distorting what he said or reading way too much into every little thing.
Super agree!!

I think he means interview from a clinical perspective or from a professional in the field in contrast to a normal interview done by a journalist
As a lay person I would diagnose him as a SPOILED , drug user , and perpetual VICTIM
You should open your own clinic.
And I could also diagnosed you as being an idiot
Me, too.

Spot on.

When a young child loses a parent that is considered trauma. It's very difficult for children to process those emotions and often cannot until they are older.
Poor analogy since ERs use triage of patients. Only the waiting room would be crowded, the sick get priority and are seen first.
Look up the psychological term: “Wound Collector”.
Harry diagnosed right there, 100%. Therapy will never help, he doesn’t want to get past, he wants to reside there as a victim.
Agreed, it's his meal ticket 🤨
And make lots of money doing it!
Right on! It fits with trying to always be the victim (oh, i forgot that now he denies that...)
Harry's mother was wronged by Charles. Diana played "the victim."
His giggle in response to the "price of admission" question...said more than words ever could convey.
No one ever challenges Harry unfortunately.... someone should....great to hear Dr Raj

It seems that Harry searches out therapists who will go along with his narrative. He'll never get mentally healthy that way

At the moment, I bet Harry could have an argument with himself.

Dr. Raj, you've missed perhaps the most salient point: Gabor Maté is a retired family physician and has never practiced as a clinical psychotherapist.
Omg, what a joke! That explains A LOT about this "therapy"
Well what hazbeen and his awful wife have done is a crime imho!
This wasn’t a “ therapy session “it was a pity me session. Henry is trying to make people buy his book that is what this “ therapy session” was
The problem with therapists as you describe in the U.S., are that they are often not medically trained professionals, and who lack the proper training to diagnose and effectively treat patients.
Professor: well said. Same in Canada.

yes agree, well said Dr Raj

I feel there were two reasons for this particular 'conversation'. The obvious one is that both of these men have the same publisher and this publisher has a history of 'persuading' their clients to support each other when there are books to be sold.
Didn’t Barbara Streisand as well? I heard she was “in therapy” for more than 20 years…
Both Streisand and Allen were in analysis which, unlike most types of psychotherapy, is not short term.

The reason I've no doubt is Harrys speech, sentences are not thought through and he knows what's coming but it is to disguise the slurring of words
with attention you can see where it has been done.

This has been his regime for at least 10 years as he has a pinched nerve in his back and nerve pain. I also have him on Galiprant for arthritis. I’ve noticed for the last couple of weeks he’s been kind of yippee and seems uncomfortable. Especially when he lays down for too long or when he goes to get up. I think it’s the nerve pain. I think the gabapentin isn’t working as well as it used to. Would I be better off asking his vet to increase the gabapentin to 200 mg twice a day? Because I know you can develop a tolerance overtime. Thank you!

@@stacyrich113 I have to tell you I cannot advise you on your pet specifically bc I have not examined your pet in person and it would be both illegal and unethical for me to do so.i will tell you that you are clearly a great pet owner .I would talk to your vet about dosing as it is based on the dogs weight.there are lots of options nowadays and sometimes even acupuncture and cold laser can behelpful in some situations.i am sorry icant be more specific.i wish your doggy the best!where would we be in this crazy world without our little furry kids?
@@pwood6532 I think SKR is trying to be funny. It falls far from the mark. There is a comedian wanna-be born every minute.
It’s the THERAPISTS bread and butter remember. Everything according to all Harry’s haters say so.
I turned to my pets and adopting rescues to help me heal. People think it is a mental illness but I found it to be therapeutic. I’m a better person and have much empathy for the less fortunate. Thank you Dr. Persaud.
Dr Persaud is spot on!
My respect for Gabor has plummeted
I know right. Why did he do this interview, big mistake.
RESPECTED DR RAJ

@@Dimple_5 Thanks, if i get time!
I love Dr raj
Dr Gabor believes that society in general is traumatized and that the social aspect of trauma is not recognized enough. I recall a book Trauma and Recovery which very bravely touched on that decades ago. A society that believes in punishment, to purposely hurt snd damage someone else as a sign of love. And many other signs of sickness as society. Where the sin is to expose uncomfortable truths, and not the truth themselves, but the exposure.
Thank you Dr Raj.....the voice of reason from an actually qualified and experienced psychiatrist.
He's on a money making winner
Are those people paid ?????
Most likely they are handsomely paid. I can't imagine a sane person would praise that book if it's not for the big bucks.
@@BB571009 That just gives him more fuel to endlessly think he's 'right'. He's a runaway train wreck
Why? they were paid to write the reviews by the publishers. Just like the "sugars" are paid to troll social media and write positive comments about H&M or rebut negative comments about H&M.
If it helped someone who needs it seek help then it's a good thing. If it's true, then it shows that good things can come from the most unexpected places.
"Me, as clinical psychiatrist..." ?!? Really?!
Well I dare say I'm not the only one, but despite the usual sadnesses that I have experienced (family illness, death, breakups etc.) I do not feel remotely traumatised and am getting on with living and enjoying my life. The drugs have made Harry paranoid and addicted to therapy, IMHO.
It's called strength of character and is, clearly, a foreign concept to Harry!
Yes, but if you have Narcestic parents then you generally carry more trauma than most.
@@melanieroe9301 I had a textbook grandiose narcissist father and I dont feel the need in middle age to bang on about it.harry needs to grow up.what a whiner!
@@evelynvanzale4757 Harry is the opposite of the famed British "stiff upper lip", being a constantly quivering lip on the verge of crying Waaaaah.
I and many others DO identify with Harry and trauma.
The health service has limited funds for you to chat to someone on the nhs. I spoke to someone pre covid, so it could be even worse now. I was told I could have six sessions. I’ve got to say the therapist was extremely helpful and after my sessions, suggested a mindfulness course, which was also very helpful. But it was nothing like what was seen in this session.
I’m glad you raised this Dr Persaud. In my area there’s a two year waiting list for treatment. This interview was awful.
Agreed 💯 awfull desgusting
In the U.S. where American's DON'T have all that "free" healthcare, you can get an appt. with a therapist in a day or two. Lucky you, huh, all that "free" medical help.

@Wendy Cutts What area do you specialize? As a wife to a psychology major and an Oncology nurse, I love to learn and teach patients’ to have an open mind to different therapies
Excellent review Dr Raj. Thanks for the clarity.
Harry is addicted to therapy. I believe this can happen. Besides whatever else he's addicted to! Hope those children are safe
Yes because it gives him a chance to endlessly talk about himself.
which if you are needy and seeking "mothering/daddying/attention craving is understandable -most of us do not get an hour of someone listening sympathetically to our issues....so totally can see why he would be hooked-he has never become an independent adult.
"The Therapist", is Gabor Matè a Canadian GP who has done a lot of work on how our pasts affect our lives as adult's.
His theories are very much worth a listen or a read in one of his books.
That's fine, but this interview with Harry was a sales schtick for both of them. Selling trauma for financial gain isn't therapy.
This is excellent! Thank you
He had 40 years of abuse.
Lol!the poor pillows.she is exceptional.. but not in a good way!
Doubtful Dr. Mate would ever be called to offer expert psychiatric testimony on the witness stand.
Yep... He just got markled.
Will these people ever learn!?
You never know. If Dr. Schmeigel can, why not Maté?
Dr Mate is well known doctor in Canada who specializes in addiction.

I would have added one more question- the diagnosis of a patient based on a book. What did the doctor think of that?
I know. How can a diagnosis be made like that!
And it was written by the ghost writer/MM, so not even Harry’s own words!

I am a therapist and I do endeavour to provide a comfortable environment with warmth & a sense of cosy …I understand some people do advocate a more clinical environment ..
his interview was longer because Hazbeen had to tell the doc how it was - he thought he knew best
Sadly, I couldn't watch this as background music was too much for me. Shame as it seemed Interesting.
Very good points, dr. Raj.
Somewhat surprised at Gabor Mate. Then again, his new book also just came out. Cha-ching!!! 🤑
