If you had a yami you could smoke the clutch, you wont change that out on the trail, thats why belts are better quick change and go but a belt temp gauge is a good investment , Ive had 2500+ on a belt before changing out never have broke one yet.
Another tip for the tool bag, in addition to the TP, get yourself some wipes. You can get a box of 20 individually wrapped from the Dollar shave Club, or the bundles from any store. Hand and goggle/helmet wips would be a good idea too.
I’ve got 3100km on mine and I don’t even carry a spare, Im going to buy one. TBH, running in deep snow, up hill, long periods, gunna do it every time no matter how new/old it is. The second you smell rubber burning stop
I recently found your channel and have enjoyed watching your videos. I think my wants have changed and I now want an x3 instead of a rzr after watching your videos and sxs blog videos.
Clutches in back get hot , not like a snowmobile that gets cool air from the front . Belt temp gauge tells you what’s up , but you still need to go >> .i would add a bunch of Frogskinz to the cover to get more air in and heat out . Brings down the temp a lot if your in the gas a lot .
I have a 2018 yamaha kodiak 450 with 1300 on the stock belt: 26 zillas tires, mudding, riding full throttle all the time almost, multiple top speed runs, drifting in dirt road, donuts, burnouts in high with no belt smoke or smell, and your can am climbs up a snowy hill and goes kapowi... I’m not hating on can am or your machines but dang man.
Do you fill it in the cockpit when you hit the top of dunes in the 4 seater? Sorry for all questions, I'm looking I to buying a 4 seater and cant decide to go with the x3 max or TS 4. Leaning more toward the can am
Hey Brandon, Thanks for putting up all the links for the tool kit. I'm clickin' away to get mine built for my XRC. Can't wait to head next door to UT an wheel with ya this season!
+Mark Ursich Mark you are the man. I saw those all come through that is the biggest order I have ever had on Amazon really cool man you made my day lol. Come out and ride let's do it👍
Rick Vos I never thought of that!!! Great idea, holy crap lol I’ve lost more screws and bolts in the mud working on my machine than I can count. I’m putting one in my bag!
+Mike Panocatapolis thanks for your advice on the clutch. I will look into that fan. I really haven't had a lot of problems I've just beat it up the belt pretty good and it was time to go.
+jeremy44mag thanks man. I would highly recommend getting the tool kit in a belt. I've been lucky on these rides not having too many issues. but all it takes that one ride and you'll be pissed. it will ruin your day and cost you more money and time. I feel better being prepared thanks again👍
Thanks for watching my videos I'm glad you enjoy them. my light bar is just a China knock off. they're all over eBay and Amazon it's nothing special. but it works great👍
Just watched the new vid sucks about the belt but weather conditions wernt to bad ,but dude I can't wait to get my setup I'm coming out for a good weekend to ride I love the scenery and the hills n mountains I'm a Missourian so not any beautiful views like that here ,I'll stay subscribed n keep watching man and definitely keep in touch with ya ,I do have a question for ya ,from owning the r/c turbo if you were to go back to the CAN AM dealer today as if you were to buy new again for the 1st time would the rc still be your ride of choice because I'm pretty set on that's the one I want ,I'm also asking do you think it's best quality machine out there
+Casey Rufkahr thanks for watching the video man. yeah come out and ride Utah's awesome. as far as the xrc yes if I went in today I would buy again. it is the best side-by-side on the market and I've had so much fun I feel great about spending the money on it. it's been a blast and it's been super durable well-built quality machine.👍
Here's the link to the clutch tool it should have came with your Can-Am👍 m.ebay.com/itm/Can-Am-2017-2018-Maverick-1000-X3-CVT-Spreader-Tool-708200720-Secondary-Clutch/192462728685?epid=20014660520&hash=item2ccfac2ded:g:8TgAAOSwuA1afcab
How big are you? I'm 6'4" 260lbs and about 24-25" wide at the shoulders and I wear a size 14 boot. I really want 1 of these but I'm not driving 120 miles 1 way to the closest dealer that has 1 to see if I fit..
Its better to replace a belt then a clutch like on a yamaha.. I was thinking the same thing you are... I would just replace my belt more often if you got 800 mile I would replace a little soon...I would hate to replace the belt after running in mud in the summer you will never get yourself clean LOL
Hey B! Great fortune to have the tool kit. Since blown belts are a reality I thought I'd share what I'm doing. I just barely finished upgrading the clutch housing with the team alba clutch case liner. It's a machined aluminum that fits precisely inside the clutch case housing to keep the shredded belt from tearing it apart. I also upgraded the bolts to the quick release or clutch cover pin kit for fast removal of the housing. Check it out! teamalbaracing.com/i-23900779-canam-x3-clutch-cover-shield.html
+Rob Staley awesome man that sounds really cool I like the quick release idea. An aluminum clutch cover sounds awesome too. if these belts explode they can break apart your hole cover which gets expensive. Thanks for the tip👍
So for the can am crew ... Anyone who has a 4 seater knows your looking at a few hours to change out the belt vs few minutes .. all the 2 seater ones are pretty damn easy the 4 seaters tho can ams the worsttttttt
Belts have a hard time in mixed traction I was blowing through powder and then also hitting dirt changing the RPM a ton and putting a lot of pressure on it. the Belt had over a thousand of miles of hard riding on it it owed me no favors.
"nice" to see those x3s are not unbreakable ;-() - these belts are still a weak link- on the other side they safe a lot of weight and are cheap- hope nothin else gets damaged !? ;-)
+Izom yep the X3 is not perfect it's close. I expect to go through a belt at least once a year. I ride hard and I expect a few things to go wrong all in all though still loving the X3👍
Get yourself a headlamp too. So useful when working at night. Frees up your hands from holding a flashlight. I have this one and it works great. www.nitecorestore.com/NITECORE-HC33-Headlamp-p/fl-nite-hc33.htm
Not to hijack your vid Brandon, but I went ahead an got the belt temp gauge while I was doing the Amazon shopping spree. Here's the link to it a.co/40VLKal
+Mark Ursich Mark I apologize. I appreciate you ordered all that stuff today. I accidentally linked the wrong belt. you're going to have to send that belt back and order this one. my bad I am super sorry. amzn.to/2DSmZ8R
+dawayn ruff thanks for the comment. you're right belt drives are not perfect. but most the people that have a Yamaha that drive it like I do end up blowing their clutch. so just different problems
dawayn ruff my son has a 1000 we were at Bundy hill off road park and his clutch went out. Not a cheap fix, it’s still sitting in my barn. He needs to come get that thing, but I digress.
Most are drivers not knowing how to drive, many have 3000+ miles on the clutch, try that with a belt. It's crawling that blows clutches as people start riding them, wide open the clutch is engaged...

Cobradaddy I like it thanks. I will add some wipes. I appreciate the comment👍
No problem, thanks for the videos, my Amazons wish list is getting hefty from the vids lol.
Cobradaddy lol nice 👍
I’ve got 3100km on mine and I don’t even carry a spare, Im going to buy one. TBH, running in deep snow, up hill, long periods, gunna do it every time no matter how new/old it is. The second you smell rubber burning stop
I use a flexible extension for the impact. That works great getting in tight spaces.
+ltr310 will do thanks for the tip👍
I’m very close to punting my rzr4 xp Turbo for one of these machines. Love your transparency. Great job.
+Christopher Agnoli thanks Chris I appreciate you watching my video. if you do decide to get an X3 you won't be disappointed👍
I recently found your channel and have enjoyed watching your videos. I think my wants have changed and I now want an x3 instead of a rzr after watching your videos and sxs blog videos.

Zach it sounds like Yamaha has a pretty good belt system but there's a big difference between 27 horsepower and 172 horsepower just saying.😎👍
Brandon Pierce yea definitely if that yamaha had like 200 hp it would have some problems
Hey can you please give me the exact model of that MILWAUKEE hex drill. I need one. TIA.
Here you go amzn.to/35y8t3p
Brandon Pierce You are the best!! Thank you bro. Keep up the good work!
Great Video ! Tool kits are a must ! Especially where y’all are riding !
Thanks for the video and all the links to the parts in your tool kit. Very helpful
Rudy Ackerman thank you for watching the video and using my links. I really appreciate it. the toolkit works great it was a lot of fun making it👍
Do you fill it in the cockpit when you hit the top of dunes in the 4 seater? Sorry for all questions, I'm looking I to buying a 4 seater and cant decide to go with the x3 max or TS 4. Leaning more toward the can am
Hey Brandon, Thanks for putting up all the links for the tool kit. I'm clickin' away to get mine built for my XRC. Can't wait to head next door to UT an wheel with ya this season!
+Mark Ursich Mark you are the man. I saw those all come through that is the biggest order I have ever had on Amazon really cool man you made my day lol. Come out and ride let's do it👍
Once the weather is a bit more stable over the mountains, I'll head out there! :)
Mark Ursich sounds good man you've been so cool to me on this TH-cam channel. I'm ready to ride with you whenever you want to go👍
Mark Ursich also I have a really nice Airbnb that's right next to my place if you need a good place to stay I will hook you up
....also, might I suggest getting some Mechanix pro gloves for repairs to add to your kit. Makes working in cold temps a little easier.
+Mark Ursich that's a good idea I will add it to the list thanks man👍
When the belt breaks your car stops too right?
I would also add a small magnetic parts tray to your tool kit. It's no fun looking for lost bolts in the snow!
+Rick Vos good idea. I actually lost a couple of bolts in the snow and then I found them later. but you're a hundred percent right lol👍
Rick Vos I never thought of that!!! Great idea, holy crap lol I’ve lost more screws and bolts in the mud working on my machine than I can count. I’m putting one in my bag!
What part of Utah was this ride?
This is an American fork canyon
How many hours you have on that belt ? Just curious
I'm not sure how many hours but I think it had around 1100 miles
@@pmutah bought a x3 xrs 2020 waiting it like a kid waits for christmas presents
They're going to like it man it's a fast machine😎👍
Clutch heat is your enemy, not many manufactures have figured this out yet. I have a power blower on my clutch intake. Makes my temps alot lower.
+Mike Panocatapolis thanks for your advice on the clutch. I will look into that fan. I really haven't had a lot of problems I've just beat it up the belt pretty good and it was time to go.
Brandon you had a nice day to replace belt and yah toilet paper is a must have lol...
Thanks for the vid. It has inspired me to quit procrastinating and get an extra belt and a tool kit together. Great recommendations!
+jeremy44mag thanks man. I would highly recommend getting the tool kit in a belt. I've been lucky on these rides not having too many issues. but all it takes that one ride and you'll be pissed. it will ruin your day and cost you more money and time. I feel better being prepared thanks again👍
What kind of led bar do you have in the front by the way awesome vids keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching my videos I'm glad you enjoy them. my light bar is just a China knock off. they're all over eBay and Amazon it's nothing special. but it works great👍

The belt got hot. Make sure of your in low under 30 or the belt will overheat.
Brandon, what tool are you using when you are screwing it on the clutch itself? It's not in your list, am I missing it?
Here's the link to the clutch tool it should have came with your Can-Am👍

awesome video, I was clicking all those links for the tool kit!
+rickper im glad you liked it. The tool kit worked great i blue my belt the next ride. It was a lifesaver. Thanks for using links👍
I blew my belt around 950 miles of dunes, this machine is addicting, just so much fun.
Excellent video! Thanks for the too list too...
Thanks buddy I appreciate it. it was and fun day fun ride😎
Did you do the bright blue mud flaps?
Yes these are the bright blue mud flaps

Matt S I'm big. I fit in it good. I'm 6-3 260. I think you'll find that it is plenty big inside and very comfortable.👍
Brandon Pierce Thank you!
Matt S no problem buddy good luck
when you say "one of these babys" and you point to that thing on your dash. whats that your pointing to
Belt temp gauge

Maybe after I had more wheel travel and twice the horsepower😎👍
Isnt the 18 Turbo R Belts part no 422280652? Your link goes to 417300391.
+Brandan Francis I will double check on that Brandan. I thought I had the right link but I could be wrong. I will check now and change them.👍
Brandan Francis you were right. thanks for the tip. I changed the belt to the correct one I appreciate it.👍
No problem ordering some stuff from your kit right now liked your idea on the tool bag!
Brandan Francis I have been lucky up to this point. it feels good to be prepared. thanks again
John P yes the link is in the description

IF YOU WHERE IN A Yamaha YXZ1000R THIS WOULDN'T HAD HAPPEN THIS IS WHY MY FIRST PURCHASE OF AN SIDE BY SIDE WON'T BE BELT DRIVEN.
