  • Egypt is a land of myth, legend and mystery. Its history goes back so far that we think of Cleopatra as ancient, and yet to Cleopatra, the pyramids were already so ancient that she had archaeologists investigate them! Ancient Egypt was unlike any other country in the world, and there's still much that we don't know about it. Some of its greatest mysteries are here in this video!

10:00 There were no remains of bulls found in the boxes at the Serapeum, contrary to what is said here. There were bulls mummified nearby but nothing was found in the sealed boxes...

On the basis of what I've read or viewed, I'm with you. I ask (whenever I come across this topic) "So, what were those boxes really for, then?" and all I get is guesswork and/or conjecture. The time, effort and expense involved was obviously enormous. I've been offered 'explanations' but nothing convincing.

There is ancient documentation that over 60 bulls were interred there. That was over 1400 years. Also grave robbery is a thing.

@@johnhough7738 yes, unfortunately, mainstream Egyptology seems to default to "it was for a ceremonial purpose" when they have no clue what something was used for.

I think the answers lie somewhere between (say) Graham Hancock's offerings and Zahi's splutterings. The whole topic needs objective approaches and open minds.@@mhicaoidh1

Unless there were 2 massive, black, 2200 year old sarcophagi that were found in Alexandria, we have already seen what’s inside. 3 Roman skeletons in a nasty soup of sewage. But, if I’m wrong and multiple were found, please correct me. Also you put a picture of it opened in your video

It's actually a huge can-of-worms. But whatever the truth, Egypt is a vast pool of meaningful archaeology and intriguing philosophy.

Part of the obsessions will be the hope of treasure. Part will be for the love of history. Part for curiosity, part for fame or advancement, part for science ... and so it goes on; the more dedicated folks can indeed become a bit obsessed.

Possibly, but it’s a bit fragile for rope making, maybe spinning thread from wool or similar but rope would need to be made strong with a lot of tension and shist is quite brittle

It's also only believed to predate the Great Pyramid because of its comparatively more primitive construction. The idea being, it must have been first because it is less sophisticated. Yet, others suggest it was in fact built later in an attempt to copy the Great Pyramid. This can be seen in the manufacture of canopic jars where the older examples can appear to have been created with laser like precision, and more modern examples appear almost child-like in their creation.
