The faceshield that comes standard on the Schuberth SR-1 is Class 1 Optically correct and Pinlock ready. If you prefer a faceshield with tear-offs, there is a SR1 Tear-off faceshield available that comes in 6 different tint options. ~Ali
The Schuberth SR-1 DOT and ECE version have slightly different fitting shapes. We only sell the DOT version that is more round than the ECE version. The Signet Q is our most oval helmet offering and I would say the 2 helmets do not fit anything alike. If you have your heart set on the SR-1, I would recommend going with a size Large. ~Ali
If you fit comfortably in an Arai Signet Q, I think you'll find the SR-1 is the wrong shape for your head. The Signet Q is a very long oval shape, which is why you could fit in a smaller size. When you go to a more round shape, like the SR-1, you need to size up because the fitting shape is off. I think after any more than 1 hour in the SR-1 and you will get too much pressure on your forehead. ~Ali
You could go either way, depending on headshape. If you have a more oval headshape I would probably choose the larger size, but if you are intermediate to round oval, the smaller size should fit without a problem. Give our Gear Geeks a call if you need specific sizing advice! -CK
We're sorry to hear the Race-R Pro wasn't a good fit, as we are fans of that helmet around here. Have you tried on the Schuberth SR1? Despite the 4 out of 5 stars from SHARP, the fit is amazing, it's extremely lightweight and the venting system works very well. It might be worth taking a closer look. ~Ali
True, Schuberth tends to be pretty conservative with their graphics. The Technology graphic is a little dated. I think my favorite graphic is the Lines graphic on the S2 helmet. I think they did a knock-out job with that one. Kinda wish they'd do something similar on the SR-1. ~Ali
I don't like to base fit recommendations off of other brands. Since they all tend to fit a bit different, headsize and headshape are consistently the best way to size a helmet. If you have that, I'll be happy to recommend one for you. -CK
Do I think the SR-1 is suitable for James Bond? Absolutely. If you are a daily commuter / tourer, you will appreciate how lightweight this helmet is. If you are an avid trackday or race enthusiast, you will also love this helmet on the track. ~Ali
The new SR1 is not compatible with the SRC system. If you're looking for another great full face option from Schuberth, check out the S2. It will take the new SRC-S. ~Ali
Just purchased this helmet and absolutely love it! It's my second helmet ever purchased, but feels amazing. When I received it I almost sent it back for the next size up - which would have been a mistake. With about two weeks of solid riding it broke in great and I don't think I'd move to any other helmet. The weight is awesome, it breaths wonderfully (I live in the caribbean so this was big for me). Worth every penny.
Thanks for the feedback! Anthony crams a lot of info into into a short amount of time. The integrity of shooting these in one take is important to showing the genuine nature of our reviews, and Anthony's opinions on product. We don't want our videos to feel scripted, especially since they are not! -CK
Hey Geoff, the Arai Corsair V is definitely on par, along with the Shoei X-12. I think this are the best options currently available. Close 2nds include the Shark Shark Race-R Pro or the AGV Corsa. -CK
Thank you for the great feedback. There should not be any interference between the chin curtain and the chin vent. I would remove and re-install or give our Gear Geeks a call to walk you through the procedure. ~Ali
Thank you for the feedback. We are very impressed with the SR1, however you might prefer the Shark Race R Pro that received 5 out of 5 stars in the SHARP test. ~Ali
This is tricky, because Schuberth's cheekpad replacement sizing is a bit different from what you would expect. Give our Gear Geeks a shout - they have the expertise to be able to dissect a question like that. -CK
This is certainly suitable for everyday use, however, something like the C3 Pro or S2 Helmet would be more suited with touring features for every day riding. The SR-1 is very much a track or sport helmet. -CK
Awesome SR1 review... I am impressed with the design and attention to racer details. I have been racing with the x12 for a couple years now, and recently got offered Schuberth sponsorship. What size SR1 is similar to Shoei x12 medium with xxl cheek pads. The x12 small was too tight, medium too big, but just right with larger cheek pads. Cheers.. and btw. I might be old school, but I like the "technology" scheme.
Well, it's a shame this helmet got only 4 stars on SHARP (look for the S.H.A.R.P UK helmets tests). Quite disappointing for a helmet of this level, was really looking towards getting one of these. But this is an awesome review. Informative, extensive and elaborated down to the small details. Great job, Anthony, I love watching your reviews :)
Thank you for the reply, I will get a proper cranial measuring and then hit you guys up for the appropriate sized sr1. I'm really excited about this helmet after wearing Arais for my entire riding career(18yrs). My compliments about the full technical run down you provide for this and other products. Cheers
Contacted you a few months ago about this lid, made the purchase from Revzilla and received my large gloss black with dark tint shield last week. Thank you for the great product and service. A quick question about the lid, if the optional wind deflector is installed does it obstruct the operation of the chin vent toggle? Or have I screwed up the installation some how? Cheers guys :)
I've rode 20 thousand miles in one of these its my favourite helmet. best looking, best comfort, best climate control and i think it IS great choice for street use as well as track I've used it on both its amazing feeling. I wore it one day for 8 hours without actually taking it off and the only thing i felt was my face missed the feeling of it lol. no sore points or sweaty just another amazing piece of kit from germany
I would love to buy this helmet. Only thing is i wish there was a quicklock system for the chinstrap and not a double d-ring, as i find myself struggling with that wearing gloves.
As an RSR2 owner (same as your Duhamel replica, Anthony :)), I went to the local Shark dealer yesterday to try the Shark Race R Pro on. I was very disappointed to find out that it does not fit me as good as the RSR2. I'm size Small (56cm circumference) and the PRO felt LESS snug than the RSR2. So I've tried the XSmal, but I couldn't even get it on my had as it was so tiny. I don't know which helmet to get now. I'll might try the SHOEI X-SPIRIT 2, or just wait for the AGV Pista to come out :)
I'm very keen on this SR1. I've worn size medium Arai Corsair and Quantums which have fit my head very well. Based on that do you think the SR1 would be an appropriate fit?
Anthony- First thanks for the great reviews as it is certainly the best around! I am on the fence with the helmet, I love the engineering/detail of this helmet but would like to know what brands and models you would personally say is on par. What are a few others you would personally place on a table and say they are an alternative choice that you would personally recommend. Thanks in advance
I have an old Shoei XR-1000 Large size that i think that fits my head very nicely. i guess im just a roundish big headed guy. I also noticed how you say its an oval shaped helmet. Do you think the SR1 it won't fit me properly because of that? Thank you and congratulations on the review! very helpful !
and by the way, what about the RF-1200 size? Do you think a size Large would fit me properly or i should go for the XLarge? Cause i read some reviews about people saying the helmet is a bit tighter than the previews RF-1100 version
My everyday ride helmet, got one on sale. Comfortable, ventilation, aerodynamics, and aesthetic. Ride a bagger and power cruiser, could be worn as practical helmet.
So this helmet came out a few years ago now. I've been eyeing it ever since I rode with one while at a California Superbike School camp last year. I do like having the best protective/newest technology gear I can possibly get. Would you say it's about time for an updated version/new helmet of this kind? Or shall I take the plunge and buy it now? Thanks a bunch.
vyjk The SR-1 hasn't been out for very long in the U.S., so it probably won't be replaced anytime soon. It's so advanced that Schuberth will probably need a few years to make something even slightly better! -DrewZilla
WoW !!!!!! Not sure my head deserves this helmet. In the Market for a new Lid, my have to consider. I realize its a "race helmet" ,but do Schuberth plan to offer a SRC intercom system for this world class helmet ??
You know what's going to happen next, right? Anthony is going to thank "the26thhour" for correcting the shape of the "donut" as a hexagonal toroid. Stay tuned. ~Ali
I want this helmet.........I WILL HAVE THIS HELMET as soon as it becomes more available the states :( I live in the states and love doing track days and I never heard about Schuberth till a engineer from hungary came to my work for a couple of weeks. Well I invited him to go ride one of my motorcycles (08 DRZ 400 SM his choice :) while I rode my 2011 gsxr 600 and my girlfriend was on her 10 ninja 250r. Long story short he told me about this helmet and I HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW!
This is my daily helmet. It's sooo quiet and so comfy. Love it. Worn it all days long on long trip. No ear plugs. For this helmet it isn't necessary. Unless perhaps your exhaust does 120db on its own :) I've heard S2 is quieter though.
my motorcycle is my only ride and I bought it brand new back in 2004 and it now has 73000 miles on it. Are you telling me this helmet wouldn't be ideal for someone who rides like I do?
A so called "race helmet" with a 3D visor? How am I going to run tears offs on that? I'll look at the Shark Race-R or Race-R Pro, or even the HJC RPHA-10. Currently wearing an HJC RPS-10 (with tear offs) and very happy with it.
Hi , I've recently got schubert Sr1 , the button that you pushed on at 5:58 does not make sense to me , could you tell what exactly is this button used for
i have a sr-1, recently i remove the lining for clean, and i notice that the inner shell (EPS foam) and the outer shell are not fixed to each other, the EPS foam is movable. I never notice this before, i wonder is this normal as original design or something wrong with my helmet?
Why is it not recommended to be used as Touring or City helmet? If it is so good , what is down side for City and Touring ride? Does it have a chin skirt ?
+xyperox The SR1 is optimized for a 3/4 to full tuck riding position, but most touring and city riders have an upright riding position. +RevZilla Thank you, which one would you recommend for Naked bike (one from my avatar) and speeds up to 250kmh? I thought about Variant but bad reviews after exceeding 180kmh.

I'm like almost 61(xl is 60-61 for schuberth) , so it is best to go a size up then to the XXL (62-63) , I guess. Other wise my sides will burn ! haha :D ....Shoei's(NXR) Xl is 61-62 and it fits like a glove...what you think? Thanks for the reply!

I'm almost round headed , with size chart saying i'm XL. Do you think this will fit?
It might fit you if you're on the smaller side of XL. -DrewZilla
Yeah, you might need 2XL if your NXR is really snug. -DrewZilla
okay got a 2xl and if fits me like a glove , thank you!
