It's not going to impact Penn State for at least 5 years. However, it will impact the ACC heavily as more PA guys head to OK.

OSU fans are loyal and passionate. It's a great opportunity for Taylor. He is still young at 33 years old and he can build his own legacy. This is good for college wrestling. Taylor was not on staff at Penn State, although he had a close connection. Penn State did not lose anything. Anyway, things should be interesting and exciting going forward.
If you don’t think PSU lost anything you aren’t paying attention.

@@georgesealy4706 it’s definitely good for college wrestling but to say PSU didn’t lose anything is naive.
Taylor is essentially taking a generation of NLWC athletes with him.
The guys all the current high school kids grew up wanting to emulate.
To be the best in college wrestling you need a strong RTC (part of Iowas current issue)
Penn state just better hope the next generation of NlWC athletes steps up and fills the void.

How crazy would it be if Levi Haines transferred to OK ST? If I remember, David Taylor was a huge influence and coach to Levi growing up. Along with messinbrink at 165 and Levi supposedly not wanting to cut to 157 anymore. I hope that doesn’t happen but doesn’t seem to far fetched. I’m happy for David. He will be missed but this is good for college wrestling. As wrestlers and fans, we should all appreciate better competition. Best of luck to him.
I just commented this same thing on Flo channel. I would love to see DT bring Levi with him. And I don’t think it hurts state much as they would just slide SVN or kasak into the slot. I am curious to see if DT takes jimmy with him to help coach okie state.

Been a fan for over 25 years. Live right down I99 from PSU and honestly it gets boring watching them annihilate at nationals and very rarely even have a moderately interesting duel. If you're a wrestling fan and not just a PSU homer you gotta realize that this was probably inevitable and is a good thing for us. Iron sharpens iron and it's human nature for complacency and bad habits to develop when the challenge isn't there. WE ARE
OSU just won the lottery! David is going to be a huge draw for high schools elite. I’m a Iowa guy, but I love David and I think the OSU train just took off. This sucks for every program but OSU and it will be interesting to see who David brings with him.
I think they both hit the lottery. To gain a coveted spot as a head coach at one of THE premier programs and THE most successful program in wrestling history as your first head coaching opportunity…that’s huge.
@@michaelscott33I agree, it was absolutely crazy to think that anyone that wanted to coach in the NCAA's would turn the position down. The positions for the big 3 in college wrestling (Iowa, PSU, OSU) only opens up every 20+ years, putting David pretty old by the time this opens again. But David is probably going to be the biggest draw in recruiting for a while. Every kid who loves wrestling knows David and most emulate and love him.
Maybe it's bad for Penn State but this is good for wrestling.

It’s actually great news because he won’t be there competition anytime soon!!! Penn State Wrestling is their own competition!!! David Taylor still has to build a program that will have some issues unless he gets the right people and politics doesn’t play a part in future changes!!! There was other people Oklahoma could have hired!!!
Akin to so many ISU studs who flocked to PSU following Cael Sanderson long ago that included David Taylor, I’m hoping that half the PSU team flocks to Oklahoma State just for karma purposes. 🤪

How is it bad news for penn st. Wrestling ? Zach you're becoming clueless and the drama you try and create is becoming exhausting. Carter starocci drama amounted to nothing at all. Come on, dude, get a better format .
Cael would bend DT into a pretzel still. DT is a 2 timer and made his international run in his 30s after getting beat for half a decade by dake an burrows at his natural weights...so he moved up and up and put on "muscle".....then got destroyed by a college kid and went into coaching...why on earth would levi leave cael and that unit of a program to go to oki state snd the big 12?
DT will have a following and be s great recruiter as he was a wrestler...DT wasent good enough to great Cael, Smith, Gable runs...

Levi spent his senior year of HS in the Penn State room….no doubt that Levi trained with DT at M2, but do u think his game elevated in the PSU room?
I’ll bet Cael makes changes and implements additional safeguards for his room.

He’s been coaching for several years now. It may not be on a college level, but coaching is coaching and David Taylor is David Taylor.
Some of the best coaches to ever have coached came straight off the mat into head coaching positions. You don’t need the “politics” and years of head coaching “experience” in wrestling. You have to be a leader and obviously very good at wrestling and have a gift for teaching, which he has.
Yeah you must be on some great dope. DT doesn't need a pitch to recruit, and he won much more than he lost. Perhaps now Okie State can stop losing.
