A former Shanghai tobacco warehouse, Green Hill stretches across the Yangpu riverfront at a time when it lacked both clear craftsmanship value and distinctive architectural character. The six-storey reinforced concrete frame slab building creates a huge sense of oppression along the riverfront, blocking the city's connection to the river.
In the context of revitalising industrial buildings, the building is cut diagonally to create a gesture that guides the extension of urban space towards the waterfront. The building is covered with greenery, making the whole building look like a huge green hill.
With a strong industrial style, full of vegetation, and a unique shape, this building has been called a "forest steel" and "sky garden", and has become a popular hotspot.
Strolling in this beautiful building, smelling the flowers and looking out over the Yangpu Riverside, one feels as if one is in a fairyland!
