We do have musquitos but they are not really a big problem here. Most get eaten by wildlife. But there is also our unie van waterschappen, the union of watermanagement (one of the oldest democratic unions in modern Europe) whom work together with local fishermen associations to keep the amount of fish on a healthy level.
It is quite a lot of trouble to manage and fine tune a contruction like Holland. I work in Den Helder which lies in the north of Holland. And a seal broke into our sweet water works in the city canals, about 5 years ago. Seals normally live in the salt waters of the north sea, but they do fine in sweet water as well. It was also pregnant with a cub.
The two of them proceded to eat for about 4000 euros, per year, of fish that was released by the local fishermen association. Seals consume about 4 kg of fish a day.
But unfortunatly due to our fetish for dumb laws, rules an regulations we can not do anything about these ecological terrorists. They get the fun to yeet every fis they see out of existence. Sometimes they just take a single bite and move on to the next....
And we are not allowed to cancel their subscription on life because they are on the red list of endangered species. Living here in these parts is just highly problematic.
What a pathetic reaction!
@@andyhorvath6630 why?
@@marksecker6606 I'm terribly sorry, this was not intended for your reaction. My apologies.
The Netherlands also helps countries with water problems other than just flooding! ✌🏼
Geography nerd.
