This track just shows how versatile the Kinks were. The entire album is great. It's a part of a three-album story arc, and this album is the 'prequel' to Preservation and Preservation Act II. This particular song spotlights Dave Davies' skill as a lead and rhythm guitarist. Not too flashy, but added the perfect licks exactly where they belong in the contest of the song. I saw the Kinks in Waterbury CT on the Schoolboys tour in 1975 at 13 years old, one of my first concerts. They played the entire album first, then played a concert of their hits and other less well known gems. This song is one of those reality songs, good to listen to after you've gotten your heart broken. It's helped me face reality after a recent dagger to the heart.
Completely ignored at the time but could very well be my very favourite Kinks song
the way they put this mix together makes it memorable
Ray & Dave were two of the most prolific writers of powerful and poignant songs to ever do so.
guitar is so perfect in this song
This song has one of the best, most fantastic, catchy and powerful choruses in Rock & Roll.
Happy 80th Birthday to a true genius...Ray Davies

Totally agree with what you say about Dave's guitar prowess. It continues even more so on the next album, "Sleepwalker."
Yet another gem from Ray, loved it at 15 and still do.
Timeless songs, what more is there to say?
OK! Any comments on Anything Else? Eagerly awaiting.
Great Song carries an Under appreciated Album poorly Timed.
So under appreciated both album and song
Amazing song. Another classic not enough people know about.
Why is that such a problem?
@@JeffreyWilliams-dr7qe because more kinks fans there are the better the world
It’s their loss. It’s a lost classic no doubt

Gorgeous track from a gorgeous album
Very true the whole album Exalent
Thanks for excellent remastered masterpiece.
Did it need to be remastered? I mean in your opinion? Also again Is it Criminally Underated? As a Masterpiece that is? Thanks for indulgences.

Worst Kinks cover. Great playing and songs
Yeah the album is good but that cover is terrible to look at
@@oliverfresh5742I ts 1975!
LOVE the cover art.
IMHO, 'worst' and 'terrible' are huge words to use it just as an opinion.
