This incredible song is so moving and powerful to me now as it did over 50 years ago when I first heard it. I can still remember hearing it as a young kid in the 70s. I’m thinking this is the coolest thing that I have ever heard! I picked up the electric guitar and 74 and never looked back. I am grateful to have lived in the 70s with all of the incredible music that came out and the 60s just as well, the one thing in this life I feel you can count on his music, with all the things in this world, music will never let you down ! So, thank you Ray Davies and the Kinks! They’ll be listening to this song 100 years from now and saying ‘Wow! This is beyond good!’ So I wonder, is there anyone else out there listening to this song and jumping around the house singing along? Peace, everyone!
❤ most well said. This album didn't enter my life until 1978, but I will always be thinking of how well it would have clicked if I had it at age 10 in 1971.
What an incredible song by Ray the Great! I've been a fan of the Kinks for years. If I had to choose a favorite era of theirs, as great as they were in the '60's, the '70's are NY favorite. Starting with "Lola" "Apeman" to "Muswell" to the "concept" albums, to Sleepwalker" and "Low Budget" the music was outstanding.
We saw them numerous times in the 70s on the east coast...Hartford, New Haven, Springfield. I so underappreciated them in those years, a teenager restless for more songs, more bands, more concerts, and the black&tans to drink and shitty pot to smoke. Concerts started blending together. Now, at the age of 70, I have deeply enjoyed their music and today am reading both Ray's and Dick's biographies. Love to all...jack.
Brings back such memories this album. Bought it 3 times since 1972 in vinyl, cassette and CD after a friend used to play it. This is one of my fave tracks. Great sound on this version btw through my studio monitors.
Brilliant song. Nothing has really changed for the better in many ways - considering what Ray has written here. You could sing it from the rooftops now - wait - no, you can't.
Kinda weird I got to discover 20th century man today, 25 years after playing 21st century digital boy (Bad Religion). Irony has a way of making things happen, that we'll never get.
Muswell Hillbillies was one of the Kinks' best works, but it's been ignored almost since it came out, especially when you consider that it followed "Lola", one of their most popular tunes. That should have increased their fan base for at least a while. The pop music audience is weird,
Who forced you to get vaccinated? Who forced some form of transsexual anything upon you? Were you dragged out of your home and forced to get a vaccine? Did some black-ops commando style group kidnap you and reassign your sex? Wow, you've had a pretty rough time of it.
It is somewhat astounding that this sounds as good as it did 50 years ago, and far better than much of what is produced today
Listen to Dave's amazing guitar versatility on this song, so many styles and techniques.
100 years from now this will still be just an incredible song and I hope people will enjoy the kinks as much as we did 👍😃🇺🇸🦅🇬🇧🎸
Especially when you consider that for the first three minutes or so, the top end seems to be missing completely.
I noticed it's much quieter for the first three...until it breaks out and rocks. Otherwise, did you intend to say...too low end bass heavy? Curious.
Listen to dead man's poison
DECADES of phenomenal music! So fantastic!
One of the best albums released by the Kinks , together with Village Green Preservation Society . English music 100% .
Quintessential English social observation. Absolutely brilliant
Dave working that slide! Awesome!
Great Music By a Great Band

You are 100% right friend .
MUSIC = Friend
you are so right brother
It's amazing that we have to reach back 50 years to hear good music. In the 60's and 70's we wouldn't be listening to songs from 1910 to 1920's
Tell that to tiny Tim!
How many recordings from 1910 are there?
@@danielramage6237 thousands my friend!!! You can try starting with Irving Berlin to start he has an anti WW1 song I at least know about for sure!
GOD 🇬🇧 🎶 bless the KINKS,past,present and future🌈 I saw them live in Concert 4 times🎼 Cherish memories😎 ☕ 🇺🇸
This song, studio or live always kicks ass!!! Just as relevant as the day it was written.
When they sang it live they left the part out that starts I was born in a Welfare State
@@frankmccormick1175that part is cool too
I was so captivated by this album cover. Even visited Muswell Hill.
RIP uncle Ted
Still holds up
Ray Davies the genius once again ....

The kinks didn't get the credit they deserved the everybody's in show business is one of the greatest albums in the history of rock and roll👍😃🇱🇷🇦🇺🌈

So underrated.
The kinks are way more influential than they get recognition for.
I'm a 20th Century Man myself.
👍🎵🎶🎸
Indeed sounds as good as when it was released, and the insanity the Kinks reference has only deepened
Great writing and music transcends the illusion of decades or time and is timeless...God bless the Kinks
This is real music!!!!!!!! And it feels good!!!!
Pure gold

Got me original album this is in my eulogy list
My very favorite Kinks tune. Great music AND lyrics.
Perspective. Sitting in my car listening. Understanding that things/times change. Fk - we change. But this music - it’s the GOLD STANDARD
4:49 Along with "Celluloid Heroes" this is my favorite Kinks song.
I would add Waterloo Sunset. But absolutely
@@scrathnessGreat choice! I should have mentioned that "Waterloo Sunset" was my 3rd favorite Kinks song. PEACE!
I'm a Twentieth Century man and who could have said I'd miss it while this 21st going on.
Now get out.
@@quackhouseproductions5572 The foreign invaders?
Still wonderful! Thank You.

Most relevant album ever!
A heck of a statement...But you could be right..

great lyrics
It's official, I found my theme song
MORNING FRIENDS LOVE THIS BAND~DON'T FORGET TO ENJOY THE RIDE
Life happens,; life goes on. I am like new mother. I love.❤❤
Brilliant song. Nothing has really changed for the better in many ways - considering what Ray has written here. You could sing it from the rooftops now - wait - no, you can't.
There are few bands which have lasted the distance of 50 years. Still great music ❤
Well, well, well... Ten thousand song by idleness is all I have for thirty years on SSI.😢😊😊😢
Just rock +roll baby.Keep it simple
Genius.
I needed this...
Been raised with this one.
Kinda weird I got to discover 20th century man today, 25 years after playing 21st century digital boy (Bad Religion).
Irony has a way of making things happen, that we'll never get.
Now I'm a 21st man and I very much don't want to be here lol
awesome
If Gravity's Rainbow was a movie this should be in the soundtrack
Я люблю эту группу с 90-х, этот протест, эту утончённость, эту веру в то, что можно изменить мир. И всегда буду любить!

Snakes for shoelaces, boy I tell you this acid...
LJK's 'Forces of Victory' brought me here.
this was only guitar players album of the year.
I'm going to leave her where the guitars play,
Looking for my street corner girl. Doah!
Or a 21st Century man, neither. [Ray understands].
Classic WRIF DETROIT Song from like 1979-80ish before it went crappy
The 'Rif ,but I guess I'd of heard this on WABX

This is why they were banned from mer ca
This song has new meaning after the age of state-mandated covid shots and state-mandated transsexualism!
Who forced you to get vaccinated? Who forced some form of transsexual anything upon you? Were you dragged out of your home and forced to get a vaccine? Did some black-ops commando style group kidnap you and reassign your sex? Wow, you've had a pretty rough time of it.
