Here’s an interesting fact about Philip the second of Spain. Despite his third wife Elizabeth not giving birth to a living male heir, it was said that he was delighted of the birth of his two daughters that lived to adulthood. And he and Elizabeth doted on their daughters from what I heard.
That's true. When their first daughter was born Elisabeth was sad at first because it wasn't a son but Philip said to her that he actually preferred things that way. Of course he wanted a son too but he was certain they would have one soon. He was more disappointed when Catalina Micaela was born but doted on both their daughters nevertheless. And so did Elisabeth in the short time she got to raise them.

I checked and the correct title is 'Queens: The Virgin and the Martyr'. Though in some places is written as just 'Queens' or 'Reinas'.
