    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tony yeah you can ask your inspection company to scan and verify the codes for you, I used to have my inspectors use a barcode scanner for our own barcodes coming into our warehouse to make sure they scanned properly. You can stipulate this requirement to your inspectors. 👊

      It's ok if you haven't heard of me I'm not trying to be famous 😄
      The 2,500 products were for my family business (the warehouse I have in this video) as well as different brands, retailers and licenses such as the NBA, Olympics, Tesco, Aldi and loads of different amazon brands etc etc. I don't focus on the selling I only do sourcing, can't specialize in sourcing if I was doing all the other things as well so I only focus on product development and manufacturing.

    thank you Kian! You are awesome and so giving. I am a new seller, no experience at all and to be honest I was afraid of dealing with Chinese factories cos I have heard some horror stories and so I was so tensed but when I saw some of your other videos about how nice they can be, I felt more relaxed and the other thing I was afraid of was the quality of the products but you have mentioned using 3rd party inspectors so that was another relieve. Btw, how much do these 3rd party inspectors charge if you just want to inspect your pre-production sample to make sure it has all the ingredients or materials you asked for...I know it's difficult to say cos depends on the product, what we are testing etc. But just wanted to know the range, rough idea...Thanks!!! :)

      @SourcingWithKian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bro thanks very much for the kind words I really appreciate it and that's what gives me the energy to keep making more videos! Regarding the inspections, it's best to go with a reputable company, the rate is $200 per manday and in normally one manday is enough to inspect a good % of your order. If you need an introduction send me an email to k@sourcingwithkian.com and I'll intro you to the inspection company I use. Thanks and take care

    do supplier consider MOQ based on dollar? i mean if order is less then 1000$ they will not care

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, they don't normally consider it by dollar amount, however if it is a low dollar amount they will consider the amount of time it will take to fulfill this order VS how much they will actually be profiting from it, and if the profit is low and the time involved is high and they don't have confidence your business will grow then they will likely reject it. Unless it is goods that they are holding in stock and don't need to actually produce. Hope that helps 🙏

  • @imanmusicuk
    @imanmusicuk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Awesome content Kian! Out of interest for a first order for the UK market what woud you say is the quantity top end of an MOQ? 500 - 800 units or could that be too much? Whats a good range to you?

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Iman much appreciated and great question! I think every situation will be different but it comes down to these key principles:
      - Cost of your goods
      - Size of your goods for (transit and stora🙏ge)
      - How fast you think these items can sell
      - Your personal budget and if you have finances to place an immediate re-order before being paid by Amazon
      I would always suggest you carry what you think is enough stock to last you the lead time of receiving your next order so that you never run out of stock.
      But depending on what the item is 800pcs may be above the MOQ as some items may only have 500pcs MOQ, I would always just go by what QTY you feel comfortable to bring in and then negotiate that with the supplier 🙏

    while the product is priced at 19$ and then why the sample is available at 150$ per piece?

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Shravan, can be a number of things. They get requests from many 'fake' buyers just looking for free samples, so by charging a high price for the sample it allows them to test who is serious buyer, but you should request this $150 to be refunded once you place your PO and they will deduct from your first order so technically the sample will be free.
      Also the sample cost can also include the freight cost which can be quite pricey and finally the sample charge can also be high if the sample requires customization such as a specific color or logo you may have requested.
      Hope that helps 🙏

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Richard, great question. If it's only packaging then I'd consider outsourcing the packaging to either a domestic company in the US and packing them here (if it is a small QTY) or there are also many bespoke packaging companies in China which you can use too and they can create your packaging which you then send to your goods manufacturer and they will pack it for you (probably the best option). If you need an intro let me know.

      Hey Sparky no you will receive the full stock once you pay for it.
      If you want to make the sale on your website then buy the stock then that would be more of a dropshipping model which there wouldn't be an MOQ as such

    What if you can’t leverage the success of you’re business endeavors because you’re starting your first business?

    • @SourcingWithKian

      Hey Tony great question! I'm going to make a video on this but to give you a short answer, if you were interested in buying yoga mats I would say 'I've been practicing and teaching yoga for more than 10+ years have connections with the top instructors and influencers in the space etc' or if it's gym equipment, I have contacts with the health and fitness industry in California with access to more than 300 gyms etc. Just so you are showing them even if you are new to online business that you are capable of making sales because you have a either a large audience or position yourself as an expert on the product if you know a lot about it or use it a lot. Hope that helps but i'll go into more detail on a video 🙏

    You didn't define what is considered by the manufacturers to be low or high MOQ.
    But you had good suggestions for working with them about it.

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tawn, the no of units considered low MOQ will be purely dependent on the product. For example if you're buying a high end massage chair the MOQ may only be 10pcs but if doing a basic water bottle the MOQ could be as high as 1,000pcs so it's purely dependent on the type of product, anything I can help with? 🙏

    What if you want 1 sample of that special material and design, they should be able to do that 1 order without ordering more material than needed, is that correct? I had a manufacturer tell me I had to order a MOQ before getting the sample I wanted of that particular material. I said no.

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's important to mention how many you plan to order right at the beginning of the supplier interaction so you don't waste time and money with samples and then realize later that they aren't able to do your quantity. But once you've discussed it you can always negotiate it down later on, hope that helps 🙏

      Hi Karen, I think the majority of the points still apply to beginners for example asking what materials they have in stock, questioning the MOQ rules, showing intention to visit China if you haven't before, working with the smaller manufacturers, and for the first point about showing your strength, if you are just getting started then you can miss that point out and let them get excited about your growth potential by saying "we are placing a trial order now but we forecast the orders will grow considerably over the course of the year and we look forward to being one of your big customers" - hope that helps 🙏

    Hi Kian! How about getting the best prices on Alibaba? Do you have a video for that? On Alibaba, I'm tired of being quoted 2x the prices that I see for an identical product on 1688.com -- thanks for your advice man! I guess this is a question on price negotiation tactics 🙌

      Be careful with products on 1688.com, because most product there are made for the China domestic market, therefore they wont meet the quality standard requirements for Europe market or America market, but you can find a lot of cheap stuff there but remember the quality may not be there. Of course you can always negotiate price you see on Alibaba

    Hi! I’m thinking of going to the Canton fair because alibaba to me seems like too much of a long process and I want to see samples and potential suppliers in person and make decisions quicker. I feel like there’s more trust in that. Do you recommend that newbies travel or start on Alibaba?

      for those who try to break into the market on a low budget, definitely not an option:(

    Hi Kian, at what point do we start talking about prices? Would it be after narrowing the 10 suppliers down to the 3 suppliers?

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like to select my favorite suppliers first based on their quality, certificates, no of years in business, other customers they supply etc and then once i've selected my top 3 I'll send them all the same specification info and then compare the prices, once I have the prices in I get an idea for what is the market price for this item and then negotiate from there as I have a solid frame of reference. But if you start negotiating first without knowing what is the real market price then it's almost meaningless! Let me know if I can help more 🙏

      @@SourcingWithKian Hi Kian, I am looking to source a PU leather based product - I don't know which pattern to go for yet and would like the supplier to send me a few lose samples. How do you suggest to approach this? i
      Should I pick 1 material to begin with, get prices from 3 narrowed down suppliers, then from there ask them what other types of patterns they have ?

    • @SourcingWithKian
      @SourcingWithKian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kaka1738 you can just request a sample of the product in your desired material, but then also ask them to send you fabric swatches of other materials / patterns as well so that you can touch and feel the different material options they have as well.
