@Ytgt Hyg when comedians make jokes about paedophilia being rampant in the Catholic church, people laugh whether they are Catholic or not. When black comics joke about the racism they experience, people laugh no matter what race, if its a good joke thats delivered well. Saw in another comment that you think islam is “dangerous”, so I see your problem isn’t with comics making jokes about the communities they belong to, you just seem to have a problem with Muslims in general. Its a shame cos if you didn’t hold such views and was more open to having muslim people/friends around you, you’d have probably found these jokes a lot funnier

I like the forced marriage joke. Because I was married and as soon people find out they ask me ''was it arranged '' you have no idea how insulting it is but now I am numb to it. Its so weird.
Why is it insulting ? A lot of the marriages in the islamic and Arab world are like this , why offended ?
Typical stereotype...and no (to the poster here) arranged marriages (not one that you are 'set up' and you either continue or not - i mean when someone is chosen for you - like what some Indians do) are far more common - and normalized - among Asian communities than it is among Arabs. They think we are all the same. Im Egyptian and I've never even met someone who has had an arranged marriage ! So the assumption is unfortunate.

When i first came to england i was asked about this from the lady who was cutting my hair. I was surprised by her question but i said we met a few times and liked each other. But we dont date or sleep together etc before marriage.

Yes I agree with you, I think it’s mainly due to cultural differences .... I don’t think any of the members of the audience got the howling is part as it is mainly done by Middle Eastern, North and Eastern African women during celebrations 🎉😂.
The reason the crowd is so quiet is because they are socially distanced not because they don't like the jokes

Being a Muslim myself, the jokes are super relatable and I'm sure a heck lot funnier! Irrespective of where you're from, North African or South Asian, we Muslims share very similar experiences and viewpoints!

When I told my good friend Nikki, who's English that I was getting married in my home country Malaysia, she told her mum. The first thing her mum asked, "is it an arranged marriage? Should we go rescue her???"😂😂😂 I never felt slighted or anything, she's my best friend and she came all the way from England for my wedding. On the wedding day she even offered to get a cab waiting at my backyard in case I changed my mind hahaha. That we 20 years, I love her my friend. I wear a hijab by the way😅

I understand the sentiment of the joke towards “Lisa,” it sucks when people don’t see your meaning so you attempt to do the same. It’s very human of us. We all do it. But Lisa actually means “God is my Oath,” and a person’s name is sacred. We all should all acknowledge that and have respect. Not an ok joke. I am the first to admit though- when I’ve felt unheard for years even decades- I say plenty of not on things to prove my point as valid. So I get how you feel. I do. Our roars get more bite the more we feel unheard and unacknowledged. We have to make room for others to speak and realize they don’t mean harm- they mean to be listened to. Those of us with a roar- I speak for us all and say- We want to be heard finally. We come in peace though. ✨☘️✨
I can feel ya on being fed up with the way the world doesn’t feel like it wants to make room for you, or what’s unique about you, or special about you, so you come in and you bring the thunder, the lightening, and the storm. And you’re ready to raise the roof and make your voice count. For that reason we should listen to her and take note of her feelings come from a roar of goodness. It is Covid, limited number of people in the audience, wasn't a bad crowd. The camera is angled to make it look like it's a full room.
You know what i'm so hard to please when it comes to comedy, particularly stand up and I have to say I rather found her very funny with brilliant energy, good stuff!

Did no one else see that it was a small audience? Most comedy that is recorded in the UK is at massive gigs, this was quite a small crowd so I don't know why people are going on about the audience not being diverse enough and other comments
