Just discovered this, and I have to say, it’s a very underrated unique idea!
Suggestion: As a New Yorker, I’d like to say the city has a vast influence on the counties in it’s vicinity. It’d be cool to see it exert its influence to expand into the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and North Jersey.

Omg i love this series so far!!!! Idea: Another category 4 or 5 hurricane hits Louisiana and another hits south Florida, devastating the effected areas. The countries effected unite into one nation for economic and health/military/recovery improvements. Same thing happens with South Florida. Seems reasonably realistic.
I think it would be cool todo something with Native American Reservations such as the Navajo Nation taking over its own territory from the federal counties

A suggestion I came up with: The Iowan counties of Clayton, Delaware, Jones and Dubuque form a country called "East Iowan Confederation" and then the counties of Buchanan, Fayette, Lynn and Benton make a country to rival the new country in the East
Could you do a episode about the Alabama county's. Cherokee County included. It would be interesting for that to happen. Also it would be funny if Tuscaloosa started an empire

This series inspired me to develop a joke series called AFOUSC (AFO US Counties) as a definitely unfunny series.
How about Adams and Lancaster counties take out York County, then form an alliance called “The Southern Pennsylvania Pact.”

I have a suggestion: California has a sort of small cold war begin between the major cities. Here's some ideas for spheres of influence:
San Francisco sphere:

I really like this idea! having a cold war style somewhere in the series seems adequate. These spheres will definitely be taken into account one way or another later on.

I think it would be cool that maybe something could happen in Connecticut in which a state government appears as the anarchy cleans up? If not then possibly I think there should be a Californian war over control of much of the big and Rich economic cities.
Suggestion: Out of the anarchy of Connecticut/Rhode Island, a Libertarian State of Connecticut forms.

Ideology/personality:
Noninterventionist
Minarchist (minimal authority to government or other major organized groups)
This means the populace would be relatively more free compared to the average nation.
However, it would have minor to moderate problems with stability.
But there would be a community spirit due to being united under one banner.
Friendly, but also ready to defend itself at a moment's notice from apparent invaders.
Starting territory: Random but connected areas of the anarchy laden territory.
Flag design: Similar to that of Connecticut, but with a porcupine and a depiction of the torch-bearing arm of the Statue of Liberty instead of 2 of the 3 middle symbols. (The flag design may incorporate a ship's anchor to represent Rhode Island).
Suggestion 2: Make Coloradan El Paso County be heavily inclined towards a militaristic mindset. (El Paso County has 4 major military installations including 2 Air Force bases, an Army fort, and the Air Force Academy. This may lead to a minor antagonistic character that seeks to unite all lands visible from the summit of Pikes Peak under one banner. Name may be changed to "Dominion of Pikes Peak"

What if Ohioan Hamilton, Ohioan Franklin and Ohioan Cuyahoga all form a pact and rename themselves to the major cities that are in them and try to conquer all of Ohio
I’m pretty sure that the hardest state to bring back will be texas because with 254 counties in that area it would be chaos and will lane long to reunite.
Texas was kind of the reason this series existed, the difference between rural areas and big cities is way too wide for Texas to ever reunite
Don't know if it's worth it, but I might as well throw my hat into the ring.
In the midst of the mysterious collapse of America, the Jefferson council suddenly finds itself free from the shackles of the Californian urban centers. Taking their opportunity, the counties of Jefferson unite to form the state- no, nation they always dreamed of. Free from the influence of callous, tone-deaf urbanites who care little for rural folk.
Or so they thought.
The county council of El Dorado has mysteriously gone missing in coincidence with the rise of the Sacramento Sphere (See Jacob Harely's Comment). With a piece of the Jeffersonian puzzle pulled out of reach, Jefferson finds itself forced to participate in the southern city states' cold war. Despite its large size, Jefferson is sparsely populated and likely cannot fight against the spheres alone. While it has a decent military due to a warrior tradition and a few scattered military bases inherited from the old union, it's just not strong enough to beat the powerful military of Sacramento's sphere. However, San Fransisco's sphere also has a powerful military. And despite bad blood with the urbanites, Jefferson must put aside its differences with the bay area to unite against Sacramento and perhaps finally bring El Dorado into the fold. Perhaps with time, Jefferson and San Fransisco can come to an understanding despite their differences.
Other objectives Jefferson will follow will be finding allies in the surrounding area to form a defensive pact, expanding its military and economy, finding allies to trade with, and most importantly in the long run: Finding out whatever happened to America. Jefferson will also try to create a stable, peaceful region around it. Focusing on keeping threats at arm's length and nullifying threats close to home, starting with the Sacramento Sphere. Unless it becomes close with San Fransisco and comes to understand the urbanites, Jefferson may also try to nullify the other Californian urban spheres, seeing them as a threat when combined. Jefferson will likely start slow, allying itself with surrounding nations and building trust with them before going off and attacking the likes of Sacramento.
As a character, Jefferson is a humble mountain man just trying to make a living in a post-collapse world. Jefferson is somewhat rough and abrasive in character, often saying things without second thought. However, in spite of his callousness, he is well-meaning for the most part. While generally distrusting of urbanites, Jefferson is still open-minded enough to tolerate them. As long as they don't actively try to harm it. Jefferson is incredibly friendly towards nations it trusts and predominantly rural nations. It will generally help its neighbors if it is asked to and capable of doing so.
In war, early on, Jefferson mainly fights with guerilla warfare and hit-and-run tactics. In the future it may turn its nation into a mountain fortress similar to Switzerland. Especially if there are larger, more powerful nations surrounding it. Jefferson's strongest forces are the Army, which is derived from its militias, and its air force, which are derived from the handful of airbases on the fringes of its country. However, Sacramento has an air force twice the size of Jefferson's. I believe there's one in the far north of its Oregonian territory and one in Yuba near Sacramento. While it does have a navy, it's rather lacking and is dwarfed by San Franscisco's.
Jefferson consists of Coos, Douglas, Curry, Jospehine, Jackson, Klamath, and Lake counties in Oregon. It consists of Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Plumas, Mendocino, Clear, Glenn, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, Sierra, Nevada, and Placer counties in California.
I absolutely love this idea, Jefferson rising from the ashes after facing challenges before, just to face more and have this arc of sorts. Along with the fact you used another idea makes this a really plausible idea for me to use!
@@Popeetoes_Mapping Thank you for your consideration. However, after some more research on military bases in California, all off my information was wrong. Jefferson's airforce would be much weaker due to them only having reconnaissance airplanes and drones. However, their army would be much stronger than I expected due to the military base being a depot containing M1 Abrams main battle tanks and other military vehicles. That same depot also contains F-22 Raptor parts, which could mean that if enough time passes, Jefferson might be able to produce its own fighter jets and in turn, be able to use its air force offensively. The naval bases in Jefferson and San Fransisco are a lie and I don't know what was up with the map I was using to determine base locations.
As for the Californian spheres, San Diego is by far the most powerful with its enormous navy complete with two aircraft carriers and many smaller ships. Fresno is pretty powerful too with 2 top of the line F-35 Lightning II fighter jets along with older F-18 Super Hornets and their electronic warfare variant, the Growler. San Fransico will likely be able to train better soldiers due to their military academies. Sacramento is significantly weaker than I thought as there is only one air base in the area and it only has transport and tanker aircraft. Then there's the random military academies in Monterrey County, air bases around Kern County, and the space force base in Santa Barbara County. These places will likely either act against the city-spheres and Jefferson or join forces with them depending on the situation.
How about a war between marylander prince georges and marylander montgomery? + did you make the map?, or get it from somewhere? If so, could you send the link to it?
Suggestion: brevard county florida scared of Orange County forms a union with st lucie and Indian river county Indian river accepts and st lucie declines starting a war between them also the union would be called the space coast federation
