This was my favorite rock song in '72, when I was 10. It packed just the right punch and had just the right hook line, guitar riffs and drumming to make it an all-around rock classic (though I detect a few chords stolen from the Kinks' "Last of the Steam Powered Trains"), and 50 years later it still sounds great. Thanks for reviving this gem!

Plain and simply the baddest white boy jam of all time. The only thing wrong with this post is this isn't the longest version of the cut. This is one of those songs where one and only one version should be available to the public. The long version, because that's perfection

I got the same idea (and T Rex for the outro) but anyhow it's a great tune So Respect to U,The Hollies, Creedence & Marc Bolan 😇😇😇@@Martell-XO
@@Martell-XOnope. CCR was a band from a rich part of San Francisco. They imitated blues from the bayou. And I love their music, and perhaps they developed as contemporaries but never copied.

Yes, I'm listening to one of my favorite band...The Hollies 😂 They are a legend.
Should a young person like myself like this old song??
HELL YES!!! ❤
This song is awesome and I can 27 and like it. This song will go well with driving an old classic Camaro from the 60's cars like that
YESSS!
anyone who doesn't like a song just because it's a bit old is an imbecile.
Hell no
Heaven Yes
👏 OF COURSE! It shows you have AMAZING taste in music! Be PROUD and GLAD you LIKE it! 👏 😊
The transition from the start to the main melody is so smooth
These guys are pure utter magic , what delights they gave us all through the 60s era Their harmonies are to die for ,, ive adored them since their beginning thats a long time lol x
Reminds me of a dear buddy that I met in 1972 when this song came out. He’s passed away now but I think of him whenever I hear this song.
Bittersweet 🙏
You can't help but love the Bass playing in this song is excellent
I love this song...been looking for this song! I'm a 65 yr old Black woman...finally found it by asking a random woman sitting at the bar...2024, still listening 😎🙋🏽♀️🎸🎙️🎶👩🏽🎤🎵🎧📻
Same here! I love Vietnam war era music!
🆘 Hallo Mother and Father of all creation are here on earth in person showing the way , healing, phone home today🎉
Why do you have to put "black"
What's the purpose for that?
Because she wanted to
Great dance music
Classic. Love this. Never gets old. This was in the film 'Remember the Titans' with Denzel Washington.
Great song great music great bass....timeless classic
Nothing beats old school golden oldies... Reminds me of my wonderful father. ❤️
I liked the B-side, a long black woman in a cool dress😂
My older brothers played this great song. I still love the music from the late 60s and 70s. I'm in a time warp! But, that music was the best! 🙂
My words EXACTLY
This song is totally awesome!!! Ultimate classic rock song.
Love this song! I always liked it, but my late dad loved it and now all I need to hear is a few opening chords to know I'm about to listen to one of the greatest classic rock songs ever. Dad, it's still great and I hope you can listen where you are too.
God bless you sorry to hear about your loss but he's still here with you
Great Posting & live this music through Him !
Your dad is still rockin to this tune, just as much as you are... keep the faith!!!
Hard to believe this song is 51 years old. I graduated high school that year and still love this.
One of the best songs, around the world🤣🤣🤣
1972
Who do you think would be a great Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress:
1-Christina Hendricks
2-Charlize Theron
3'Catherine Zeta-Jones Douglas
4Marcia Cross
@@johnpatterson4816 Marisa Tomei
@@DefJamGlycerine Sounds good to me.
Decades later, and this song is even cooler now. Love it!
Isn't that great! Too bad we won't say it about today's music!
The song has always been hip and cool.
It was inspired by CCR’s “Green River”, swamp rock.
It has that sound, but it’s got its own thing… a great song
@@cl5619 Really? I'm a BIG Creedence fan. It's nice when great musicians recognize & inspire one another.
It sure better... 💃🕺
@@vickiri2475 Bring BACK THEM 70s
One of the most amazing guitar intros I've ever heard. It's just SO COOL !!! 😎 😂
One of the most underrated songs/bands/singers of all time. Allan Clarke and the Hollies were some of the best
2:35 2:37
Another great song that, absolutely, deserves to be blasted loud when played.
Thanks for reviving this gem!
i was on my third tour in Vietnam in 1972 while listing to this i a bar in Saigon
@@sidmarquez4771 welcome home, thank you for your service and sacrifice
This is one my favorite classic rock songs of all time! So many good songs they wrote.
Rock n roll will never die today's music is so dull.
So dull & so satinic. (sp? - I never spell that losers name correctly. he gets no respect from me)
Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls this is what real music sounds like. Those who don't like it has no taste in music.
Agreed 👍
For real
OK boomer. I like the song but your comment is pure cringe.
@Owen-hg3cu yep I dig this and Metallica too
Those who don't like it is not a waste of skin,,,that's it and I carry full responsiblity for my words ,,,because such people are the reason for deteriorating music that we currently experiance
This song just makes you feel better. It is absolutely amazing!!!!
Plain and simply the baddest white boy jam of all time. The only thing wrong with this post is this isn't the longest version of the cut. This is one of those songs where one and only one version should be available to the public. The long version, because that's perfection
That opening riff is just..... Perfection!
production was so ahead of the curve on this one...drum sound was huge for a song in early 70s...everything works on this song...vocals are insanely good...this is what a lead singer does...knocks you off your feet
My Mama is 80 years young and loves this song!!!!
This song lives rent free in my brain! That goddam riff is iconic 🤘
This song rocks on after all these years. Classics don't die, THEY BECOME LEGENDS!.
My Grandma’s favorite song
She would dance every time lol
I’m playing this for her
She’s passing to the other side today 😢
Sorry for your loss😢 she is better now !!
Sorry for your lost. She rest in peace.❤
And she's dancing all the way😊😊😊
Sending love and prayers

I can listen to classic rock and roll for hours with no hesitation

This song has long been on a very short list of my all time favorite R&R songs. Everything about it is brilliant.
I was looking EVERYWHERE for this song because I heard it in a truck song in 2014. So happy I found it, I've been looking for years for this song.
My favorite song of all time! Love to listen to this song while cruising in my 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS.
My '71 Mach 1
I was ten years old when this song came out October the 8th 1971 right on my birthday such great memories and music back in the day, but this song I'll never forget.
I was 13 so same here on remembering when it came out
Man how cool. I was born oct 8th 1994 and this is one of my all time favorite songs
I was 9 n loved rock even then, listening to my uncles play their rock music, esp CCR*
La buena musica, lo es casi... todo. Cosa que se extinguió en los 90's.
I was 13, and I fell in love with the song immediately!!! What a great time to be a teenager!!!
Brings back memories & makes my feet want to dance - love the beat
This sound and this era of music will never be beat. They nailed it. This is music
And this beauty has fell on my ears yet again ❤
Summer vacations from school listening to this was priceless . Simpler time .
