Thank you so much Jeff, I got my first bow deer because of you, I’m 14 and most of my family are just gun hunters, you have given so much information, I saw my first buck since the one I shot four years ago because of you telling me about cruising areas between bedding, I’ve learned most of what I know from trial and error, a little bit from my parents and a huge portion from you. Thank you!
As a 71-year old novice deer hunter, who moved to northwest Wisconsin from Oregon last year, I really appreciate you sharing your love and knowledge of deer hunting. I own 160 acres of almost all timber property and am trying to figure out how to access the property without spooking all the deer as it seems they are nowhere to be found!!!! It seems impossible with all of the dead leaves that litter the forest floor, even if I carefully take only three steps at a time. I’ve followed your guidance re mock scrapes and licking sticks and have seen NUMEROUS bucks and does on camera. I now know, based on your videos, what I need to do after this year’s season and plan to set up stands with access and shooting lanes by following your videos, so thanks for the help for someone excited to become a deer hunter, I just have a lot to learn!!!!
I would like to say thank you for making all of this useful content available for us. I’ve been watching your videos religiously for over a year and it really payed off this fall! Biggest buck in the area came right to my water hole :) Thanks again!
Jeff, like you I am a bowhunter. Our gun season opens here in N.Y. on the 21st this year. I'll carry the boom stick for the opener, then it's back to the thick stuff with my bow!!! So far you've had an awesome season, hope it continues for you and your family.
Thanks for all your info. Ive seen so many more deer this year and had opportunities at good bucks everytime ive been out this year because of your advice. Its a real game changer
Hey Jeff just wanted to say thank you for all the information that you provide, it has definitely made me a better hunter and property manager. I have found success the last 3 years using your guidance i get from your videos. I harvested the biggest buck to date this past week with my bow and I owe you a lot of gratitude. I wouldn't be finding success if I would have stuck to my past methods. Your concepts absolutely work, I look forward to learning more from you. Thanks again!!
So I'm kind of new to your channel and I've notice in a few videos you are not a fan of elevated box stands. I was planning on rebuilding my stand for next year but am second guessing this now. So my set up is I hunt a private 30ish acre parcel that is a corner lot on 2 fairly busy roads on the north and west edges. It has about a 10 acre field that is planted in whatever is decide by the farmer (my uncle) coming from the west side with woods on the north and south going to a creek bottom on the east side. My stand is set up off the north east corner of the field about 100 feet over looking the creek bottom with some pine islands, bedding to my north, and I have about a 1 acre plot of brassicas I planted. I plan on making the plot beans next year and expanding it to about 1 1/2 acres so 1 acre beans and 1/2 acre brassicas. This stand/ property is strictly for gun season as its the only property I can gun hunt currently. This is in central Wisconsin also. So with all that being said, what would you recommend instead of a elevated blind. I cut down heavily on my visibility if I sit on the ground and none of the trees are big enough for a stand. Any help is appreciated.
JEFF! I jus put my first buck down! Haven't even gotten out of the blind yet. I just wanted to share this with you and tell you thank you for all the video help. Michigan gun opener!

Really like this video at the end of season I'm going to have to ask one of the guys that I allowed to hunt my 120 acres to not come back due to his choosing for access routes and will not quit driving an ATV on the property he made some really interesting points I too witnessed a hunter across Central hatchet Creek and what I believe to be a very large flashlight maybe a headlight I watched him fool around at the bottom of his tree or wherever he was at and then I saw the light would appear to me to do was go up the tree and by the way I have made contact with Dylan looking forward to everything he has to offer in the spring on my property thanks Jeff for all that you do and give us
Thanks again and good luck out there! Shotgun opened today here in Indiana but gotta work try em on Monday then over to Illinois for their shotgun opener next weekend I’m stoked!
I got burned on ky rifle opener this past sat. I like you Jeff prefer to bow hunt. So I Carried my bow, target buck came into 90 yards, locked up and stood for 20 mins broadside, all I could do was watch, and hope he came on in. He did not. I told myself I wasn’t carrying a rifle this year. But that really made me 2nd guess that decision. LoL Needless to say this morning I spent, checking my rifle. If he does that again he will be in big trouble.
Thanks Jeff! It’s deer season eve here in Michigan but the weather forecast for tomorrow is a bit on the dangerous side. Hopefully people took Monday off from work also so they can push deer around on the second day. Shoot straight 🤘🦌.
Great comments. This year will be very different for us with covid. Our hunting will be very limited, as one of our grandchildren tested positive and they will not be hunting. Hunting for us has always been about being with family, and will be disappointing this year. I will probably try to take a couple of does later in the gun season, and keep an eye out for a WOW buck opening weekend. Good luck and be safe!!! God Bless, Bob
Thank you for for all of the content and strategies you put out here for us they have helped me out a lot in herd management and the success of getting my very first buck 7 point that was 350 lbs live weight
Ok Jeff after you bag that deer in that heavy covered area that took your 45min the long way in during gun season, do you drag that deer the long way out? Or do you use the shortest path? Or do you go get the kabota? I have seen more deer this year than any other and have not taken a shot because I just didn't have that clean shot using both a bow and muzzle loader so far this year. Spooked a nice buck when I cocked the hammer on my muzzle loader last week because my hair pin trigger was set and that was at 40 plus yards. I must say I love you methods and have become a better hunter because of your expertise. Whitetails in NH are like ghost for everyone you do see there are a half dozen you didn't see.
Hi Jeff - love your videos and advice. Can you please share the name and contact information again for the tree stands and ladders that you use. I believe they're based out of WI and saw it on previous posts. My kids are looking for Christmas gift ideas for me and this would be #1. Thanks in advance.
I've hunted NY stateland for 20 years. I have learned to setup on escape routes. I let the other hunters do the work for me. Sitting an hour before daylight a mile in. Just wait for the deer to get pushed to me and hang out in the swamp and oak flat I'm in. I saw 20 deer last year on opener 7 bucks all were 6 and bigger and took a good 3.5yr old 8. Goodluck this year . Wear hunter orange biggest thing I hate about NY gun is no orange requirments.

Next week is going to be cool now should be a good week to hunt. Rifle season opens here next Saturday to. I’ve got to load some more rounds for my 300 Winchester magnum I’m hunting two big bucks on my lease. I may not kill anything this year except them two if I get the chance that is. Your rifle has a very beautiful stock. Is it custom, because it certainly looks like it. Thanks for the videos. Arrowed my first buck last weekend, because of the information I’ve learned watching your videos.
I really need some tips on hunting dog pressured land as a still hunter. You are doing great work Jeff. Once the dogs dropped I have never killed a deer. And that is going back 10 years. They just run them so much. I am in mid eastern Virginia. Please any tips will help.. I need to fill the freezer
During the rut do you think you can occasionally get by with spooking a deer occasionally? Find that sometimes I will spook one from time to time no matter how good my access is!
I’m not Jeff but if you spook deer on way in it lessens your chance at mature bucks but I hunt a spot where I have to walk along a corn field and jump deer once in a while and I still got a 2.5 year old last year and a 3.5 year old this year but I don’t think I will ever get one of them 4-6 year olds due to me jumping deer and pressure from surrounding hunters
@@cameronbrennemanoutdoors I wouldn’t go to that extent! I hunt in a high pressure state as well and managed to kill several 4 year olds the last several years! I look at it this way. It’s never a good thing to spook deer but as long as it’s occasional and not and everyday thing your good. That’s why we save our spots until prime time because I’ve spooked a doe before and 30 minutes later a buck is coming chasing her through the woods! But it all goes back to not over hunting your stands and staying out until prime time!
Funny that you named all states like that. I assume it's because people get butthurt. In their defense, it does kind of suck that a lot of the things you talk about aren't happening in my state (Alabama) until 2 months later. Some spots in Alabama don't rut until late January. Pretty wild. Maybe you should make a video talking about hunting in the southern whitetail woods!

Hey Jeff, got a 150 acre area of thick woods and lots that isn't hunted (because it's landlocked) EXCEPT for this 25 acres that is extremely pressured with hunters. I am wondering where I should set up in the area. The entire 150 acres only has one small field, and I big beaver swamp. I've only been in the 25 acre area where it is hunted, the rest is unknown territory for me, but I'm gonna scout it in 2 days right before a rain storm. Should I hunt a bedding area? Should I hunt the deer trails? The field? The swamp? Any ideas? Thank you for the help!
1st year hunting deer in NY, or at all for that matter. Did everything I could, but only saw one deer. I have 4 bullets left. When they are gone, I am done. If I do get a deer I will buy another box of ammo. I can't get out before 1st light because I have my 5yo until my wife gets out of work.
I need help I have a private place in Mississippi where there is extremely thick cover right by an open field not pressured at all this year is the most pressure those deer have had in probably 5 years I have a pop up blind is it a good idea to be on the other side of the field in cover there or closer to the thickets where they bed down because in the morning driving by there I have seen deer coming out of the back field and also coming from the thicket and it is also a great evening spot I saw a nice 6 point and a bunch of does the opening day of youth season so what should I do
Stupid question but I want to be sure I understand. When you say hunt food sources in the evening, obviously that would include large ag fields as well, right? My trouble is my hunting area is almost entirely large ag fields.
Jeff, can you help me understand why 5 bucks are grouped up this morning? I’m in South Dakota, November 13th. If it wasn’t 18 degrees out, you’d think it was early season watching a bachelor group.
Minnesota slugs! A lot has changed over the years but we always shoot slugs. (SE MN). And hunt the rut, early November-which is on my birthday (November 9)! always a lucky day. Congrats on the buck-!
Shot my biggest buck this year. Right place right time. I'm learning alot not sure it got me this buck neccesarily but I'm a better hunter do to this channel.
So I’m just getting back into hunting this year and I thought I put my stand in a good spot but i didn’t. I have been ground hunting and I’m having a hard time. I hear the deer everywhere but I’m not seeing them and I’m hunting back off the trails they take . It looks like a deer highway on my small parcel. What am I doing wrong beside not being in a stand!!
Didnt shoot any monsters yet in northern mn. I was catching them on camera until gun season opened now my core bucks are nowhere to found but I'm seeing the tracks. I've only been seeing doe families what should I do?
Any good advice for a pipeline crew laying new line right through the middle of the lease on a recent clear cut parcel everything has flipped over to nocturnal activity
so hunting Mn. and Wi., which season/state do you prefer? I have hunted s.e. Mn. all my life but have always wished that Mn. would match hunting season dates as Wi.
Saw a doe and 2 fawns and passed them. Later I saw a fork buck. Sounded like ww2 here in western KY someone shot an 8 point I had on camera on the same property I'm hunting 😬😥
You are an absolute beast! Great video! Composed, humble and smart. Would love to invite you one day to come hunt on my beautiful land just outside Montreal, Quebec! Peace.
Here in Tn we’re not allowed to put bait out. In certain places it would be great. I don’t have anything against anyone that puts bait out that’s their business not mine but if we put corn out or apples whatever the wild hogs are so thick here now that bait piles don’t last long. Be safe and GOD BLESS y’all brother and good luck Amen 🙏
I've never hunted, none of my friends or family hunt, but I very want to start. Any tips or resources I should read or watch would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!
So what did you figure out? Any luck? I'm hunting in Lake county, and skunked for two days, hunting public land. I had a spike in the crosshairs but had to let him go.
@@ryanwooden783 skunked public land as well seen deer but no bucks... hunted all my spots I pre scouted in the winter and had very nice buck sign but of course nothing for me.
They are 100% in lockdown right now. Hunted eastern panhandle 25 years now and the deer seem to disappear from 8th November thru the 15th - 17th. When I start seeing only young does alone, that tells me the mature doe that are usually together are getting bred. Wait till about the 17th thru the 24th. The bucks will be back out chasing does looking for estrous ones again. Absolute best time in Wv.
lol I hunted western NY state land for 6-7 years and this all is so true. Get in earlier than anyone else, and watch out for the shooting galleries that start at day break. I had some great luck in opening days though! Best of luck to you this year
@@bradmcfarren6284 u are absolutely right. Last 3yrs hunting maddison ny in 3rivers ive been almost shot frign shot bc of ppl not looking or paying attention.
I always let other hunters unknowingly push deer to me. It was my main strategy when I use to hunt indiana public land. I would be in a stand location no one else would try to go. And be there when everybody else was getting out or going in.
The neighbors where I gun hunt have several family members with multiple property’s that adjoin. We’ve watched 7 trucks drive back there on opening morning. We joke that they never heard of a car pool. Lol. The deer FLOOD out of their property before daylight. And we’re already there waiting. Only been a few years we didn’t take a buck they pushed out by vehicles. He’s right about quads, vehicles, and don’t forget the three friends that walk out together, speed walking to their spots. Sounding like a elephant on peanut shells. Walk quietly. Slow your friends down if you haft too. I would rather get to my stand after light knowing I haven’t bumped anything. Than to power walk, snapping branches just to beat daylight. Question. Do mature bucks tend to lock down a doe more than a immature bucks?? I don’t really notice young bucks locked to one doe. Where a mature one will fixate on one doe and follow her till she’s ready??

Last few days I’ve seen rut action but on small bucks have been chasing. But the mature bucks don’t seem to be chasing to much. Other day I saw doe’s following a bigger buck. Will they start later than small bucks? In triad NC
I always learn something from your videos.
The field? The swamp? Any ideas? Thank you for the help!
what backpack is that? 7:27
Are you going to have stories about your bucks?????
How early do you get into your blinds or tree stands for morning hunts? One hour before sunrise is a rule for me but would earlier be even better?
MA Shotgun doesn't open until the Monday after Thanksgiving every year, 11/30 this year! smh... Good archery hunting though!
@whitetailhabitatsolutions
What do you do when you are sitting all day and you have use the bathroom?
I love hunting and I already got my buck but I wanna sit a whole day someday. I have adhd does anyone have any tips
I have sat many days while day but haven't got my buck. So nothing to see here :) congrats on your buck

@@dmitryadamenko6518 thanks it was a 96 3/8 score 7 pointer
I just shot a nice 7 pointer here in Minnesota with a 12 gage!
Bait piles in Michigan? I didn't know they lifted the ban on baiting!?
Large portion of UP can still bait...
Didnt shoot any monsters yet in northern mn. I was catching them on camera until gun season opened now my core bucks are nowhere to found but I'm seeing the tracks. I've only been seeing doe families what should I do?
Hey Jeff, would you say there will be some rut action still happening in western New York this weekend for opening of gun season? Thanks!
Any info on Southern Ontario Jeff? Does the rut happen earlier I the year here or later?
What do you do with your clothes do you just leave them outside or put them in a ozone closet
Was waiting for this one

What is the best way to get put of stand when deer are all around u and its dark and deer aren't leaving
I listen to what you say so intensely that I thought I heard a buck grunt at 13:42.......
can we install water hole anywhere...and and any time? thanks
Peace.
What’re you WV hunters seeing activity wise?
Awesome Jeff thanks
Here in Tn we’re not allowed to put bait out. In certain places it would be great. I don’t have anything against anyone that puts bait out that’s their business not mine but if we put corn out or apples whatever the wild hogs are so thick here now that bait piles don’t last long. Be safe and GOD BLESS y’all brother and good luck Amen 🙏
I've never hunted, none of my friends or family hunt, but I very want to start. Any tips or resources I should read or watch would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!
I would read Jeff's books and listen to his videos that would be an awsome start
Thank you your videos helped me so much
Went out this mornin saw one!
anyone else notice the deer with the fucked up leg at 8:45?
Any advice on hunting in Virginia? Anyone
Hey man I hunt on 4 acres in South Carolina what is the most important piece of advice you have for me.
Hunt somewhere else lol

Jeff tomorrow opener for Michigan and forecast looks horrible what are your thoughts on rain all day and high winds?
So what did you figure out? Any luck? I'm hunting in Lake county, and skunked for two days, hunting public land. I had a spike in the crosshairs but had to let him go.
@@ryanwooden783 skunked public land as well seen deer but no bucks... hunted all my spots I pre scouted in the winter and had very nice buck sign but of course nothing for me.
My deer disappeared today, never saw a single deer. Is it possible for them to be locked down in northern West Virginia right now?
I'm in WV also and seeing the same thing
@@jasonatkins1095 doesn’t make sense, saw 8 or 9 Friday evening and zero Saturday
Anyone here hunting ny state land and watching this before goin in lol.
Good luck!!
Yessir opening day is almost upon us
lol I hunted western NY state land for 6-7 years and this all is so true. Get in earlier than anyone else, and watch out for the shooting galleries that start at day break. I had some great luck in opening days though! Best of luck to you this year

I wanted to say thank you for making the great videos. I have killed a few nice bucks since I started watching. Keep up the good work
you bailed on sitka?
I hope you're able to get past hearing complaints about people upset about not hearing their state. The content is what matters. Pretty soon people will complain that you don't mention the county they hunt in too.
Do you ever still hunt?
Yes I do occasionally in PA
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 I've bow hunted for the past 2 years but this year i'm going to use a rifle a little bit and I got introduced to still hunting and i liked the idea of it.

It's kinda funny how you never say Nebraska. Have hunted with a lot of people from out of state and just about everyone is impressed with the size of our deer. On par with Iowa, big bucks are tougher to hunt but they are porky 🤣
Just mentioned Nebraska yesterday in best states for BIG bucks 😊 I also will likely hunt there for thr Opener on 11/12 and I can't wait!!

I think this is my issue human invasion @jeffsturges any help? Anyone I check my app too
No. Charge in loud n proud with a 1000 lumen headlamp crashing through the brush after smoking 5 cigarettes in your truck cab. Then complain about how you don’t see any deer. That’s the PA public land hunting way ....
