Glad your Expanse reactions are back...even though you do tend to overthink things a bit. 😀
While Amazon did purchase the streaming rights for the show and attach their label to it, literally nothing changed with the production. The Expanse has been produced by Alcon Entertainment since day one. Same writers, same crew, etc. Essentially over 90% of the people who started with the S1 stayed with right through the end.
The blurry, purplish images you're seeing are The Investigator's (proto-Miller's) POV. These were significant in the book...though sometimes just as confusing.

They did recast Chrisjan's husband. The previous actor (Brian George) was busy with other roles when amazon picked up the series and was unable to return to the role.

    Bobby Chill!! Another Expanse reaction!!!
When Amos asked Murtry if what he found looked like a explosive detonator it referred that their ship wasn't brought down by the Protomolicule swarm! Also take note that Amos calls Murtry by different names like Morty. He does it out of disrespect! 😂 Amos also got some "action!"
Naomi isn't doing well being on a planet even with gravity treatments!
Bobbie isn't doing so well on Mars! The Mars she grew up taking pride has changed.
    What is up with ProtoMiller!?
Looking forward to the next one!

"New Terra" is the name used by Earthers, because "terra" means "earth." "Illus" is the name used by everyone else.
Season three is the "favorite" because it contains two book finales, and these people write smashing book finales. All of their book finales are terrific, but season three is the only season with two of them.
Yes, they had to recast Avasarala's husband Arjun. Nobody likes the recast. Although Michael Benyaer is a good actor, he just doesn't fit into the role as Brian George had made it. Remember that The Expanse had been cancelled, so Brian George had gotten a new contract by the time Amazon picked up the fourth season. Fun tidbit: Michael Benyaer had a guest role in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds playing a Vulcan husband very much like Arjun to a strong-willed Vulcan wife very much like Avasarala...and the actress playing that Vulcan wife also played Avasarala's daughter in The Expanse.
When Bobbie got the cold shoulder from those two Martian officers, if you have subtitles on, one of the Martians said to the other, "She's the one who got our team killed on Ganymede." So they're blaming Bobbie for that as well as what happened in the Ring space.
'Way back in the third episode of the series, when Lopez was interrogating Naomi, they showed Marco Inaros as one of her known associates.

Actually, the Martians call it New Terra also.

While a lot of people say S3 is "the" favorite and the ones after that aren't as good, I think of them in terms that S4 does slow things down a bit, but S5 and S6 are right up there with S3.

The protomolecule creators are so vast and completely unknowable, it's such a well written show that they haven't lost that even after the reveal of the rings. It makes the human characters feel like a bee trained to roll a tiny ball into a hole. ( i still haven't seen the last half of this season)
