Hi Ruud, kudos for the first three games being from the Amsterdam Board Game Design series. Tom, Time Zoo is wonderful, and Grachtenpand is the Dutch word for the historical Amsterdam canal houses, that's fun, too! Bable I've yet to play.
Not sure what the game is actually about at this point but in UK speak if something is 'chock-a-block' it means it's full to the point of having no more room. "That convention hall was chock-a-block today!"
It would be awesome if my backed copy of Tokyo Highway that supposedly shipped TWO MONTHS AGO would ever move in shipment tracking. So far it's just lost somewhere in the US on a FedEx truck or in a FedEx warehouse between a port on the West Coast and the East Coast.
Where did you find this 20th Anniversary pack for the Ticket to Ride? I bought the five sets of deluxe trains in the Asmodee booth, but I didn't see this cool package with the promo gray set 🤯 Where (or how) can I get this promo gray set?
As far as I know "Blind Guardian" is a well-known medieval fantasy Power Metal band from Germany which exists since 1984 or so. (But I admit I don't know much about the band.) example songs: th-cam.com/video/M0TcB5lxfuY/w-d-xo.html Nightfall th-cam.com/video/TMSx95iU-yQ/w-d-xo.html The Bard's Song
They cut the portion where he said the name of the game, so it just goes to the next game. The Top Secret game isn't Barbarian Kingdoms, it's something smaller sitting on top of it. You can see the shadow outside of the censored area. I'm also curious what it is now though.
1984. a boardgame? A dice results in 2 + 2 = 5. It's a war game about peace. Ignorance to rules is your strength Free the hand, enslave the dice. And, Big "Dice" loves you!
I love how he pronounced Grachtenpand. A 'grachtenpand' is a house in Amsterdam that is 'canal-adjacent' (gracht = canal) Also, Leicester is pronounced Lester.
Damn I am so like fatigued from so many games on the market now that barely a single one looked appealing to me from the looks alone. I will say though that when you said NEW POWER GRID I was very intrigued...
"Auweia, Frau Geier, im Nest wackeln Eier" :D :D 8:56 literal translation: "Oh dear, Mrs. Vulture, eggs are shaking in the nest" Publishers should really do better with the titles of their board games. (Yes, I know, it's just a kids game.)
Claw machine, treat or cheat, and Milkuro we’re also on my top 10 hidden gems pre-essen. Claw machine has English rules on BGG, thematic set collection game. Chilean and Argentinian co-publishers which is neat to see more games out of S. America Treat or Cheat is about optimally lining animals up to be let in to animal hospitals. All about jostling for position Milkuro is a very simple trick taking game.
Cat and the tower is a cute and fun dexterity game where you are trying to build a tower out of paper walls and floors in order to help a little kitten meet his mother which is "up in the skies" (yeah.....) I hope, you haven't lost the English rulebook, because the game is in Japanese, there is no English rulebook inside and the exhibitors should have given you the translated rules.
Tom, Not sure if you will want to play 7 empires as it is the new version of Imperial…a game I know you do not like. Maybe you’ll want to pass that one on to a different reviewer. 😂
Also stop with this nonsense where you tell people they're not allowed to ever voice negative opinions of things. If Tom doesn't like something, I want to hear it. If Tom thinks something doesn't sound good, or the box art looks awful, or whatever, then the publisher almost certainly wants to hear it. Why wouldn't they? It's something they can improve. I don't want Tom standing there putting a box out and going "That looks good," then putting another out and going "That looks good" and putting another out and going "That looks good" ad nauseum. Some things look exciting. Some things look awful. Some things he'll have played and hated. Some things he'll have played and loved. As all of us.
It's fun listening to Tom misprounounce things.
To be fair, ‘Grachtenpand’ is a difficult Dutch word to pronounce 😊
You'd probably get closer by pronouncing the ch as a k. So, Graktenpand

Love seeing a ton of small box games. Makes me even more excited to attend Essen Spiel one day.
our cup runneth over with boring unboxings
We spell our place names with possibly the sole purpose of making them impossible for foreigners to pronounce. Leicester - pronounced Lester.
Not sure of your location but in Massachusetts that's how we pronounce it too
I only know the correct pronunciation from being an English Premier League fan.
Space Bureau was my number one hidden gem pre-Essen. It looks really cool with combotastic actions. The box and pieces are both visually stunning
In 1984 board game, when you Roll a 4 you can convince the other players it’s a 6 if you on the authority side.
Damn that is an endless amount of games, makes you realize just how many games are out there that you never even know exist.

Vale of Eternity artifacts YESSSSSSSS
Do all the TTR 20th Anniversay Deluxe Train Sets come with the storage box? I want it more than all the extra trains!
22:08 Is that a table standing on a dungeon?

They're a great band in the metal scene. Two great albums are Nightfall in Middle Earth and Imaginations from the other side. I really like them.
That d20 has some serious ceaseless watcher vibes to it
Lol “top secret” as we hear him say the game oh no 😮😮 now I’m curious haha

You can look under the 'Top Secret' if you tilt your phone...

Looking forward to Toms 1746 games reviewed in 12 minutes video 😉
Was it expensive to ship the games from Essen?
Heard good things about Oranges and Lemons
How long will it take you wonderful people to play and review all those games?
A long while and some may never get to the table. Just too many games to cover and not enough time.

Where does he pronounce it in the vid? I scrolled through the vid once then watched it in full (granted at 2x speed) and I still didn’t catch it.

To be fair pronouncing the Dutch word "Grachten" correctly is really difficult for non-Dutch people. :)

GNOME KINGDOM 🤯 So excited you picked that up. It’s from a small Danish publisher. So glad it’s getting some visibility!!
It was very popular essenspiel!
I always tell my dog to Pee No Postinos...
Why is Barbarian Kingdoms to secret? What is it even?
there was a cheeky cut there, he likely put something on top of it that wasn't announced or something.

I actually demo'd Claw machine at Spiel. It was a very cute little game. It was sold out on the last day when I was at the stall
@@seraphiccandy21 I want to get it, quite a bit!

Please please please keep the negative editorializing out of unboxing videos.
It's literally a review channel, every single scrap of content is opinion. What the hell are you talking about?
