This was a very much needed video for me today, as I've been beating myself up over not being productive due to health issues. Thank you!

I love what you said about having gratitude using environmental services like air as an example. I am surrounded by paint fumes during a portion of my day during work. I pray for clean air and am grateful when I can get away or have clean air pass under my nose. All of these free services should not be taken for granted and there is much we should be grateful for. So much of the time people don't know what they have and just want more "good" things. But a little time taken to examine our life can give us a mountain of perspective.

Your videos are awesome. By that, I mean two things: 1. I enjoy watching them; and 2. They are actually inspiring me to take on several life projects that have been real hurdles for me: learning how to budget, paring back my belongings, and learning to distinguish between what I want and what I need (strong wants make a lot of noise!).

That hammock scene! Yes! Love the humor you weave into your videos, Anthony. Excited also for your work this month with the Simple Year course! #mindfulness

Just found your channel, came from Shoeless Joe. I really agree with what you said about needing to see a garbage dump to fully understand what they are. Not just rubbish though, food too. Seeing where your food comes from and really understanding the energy behind it changes how you buy and use. It's good for people to try and grow some of their own food I think, cause when you grow some measly lettuce or something and it takes months, it really makes you appreciate the fact you can buy it for like one dollar at a store.

I loved how you started out with a good 'ole fashioned definition.

Wow! I absolutely love your videos. They are short and to the point. I can easily watch one of your videos, get inspired, and have a productive day. I came across your channel in my search for minimalism videos, and through your other videos discovered a deeper more mindful way of living. You have inspired me to live more intentionally and to just get started on a project without fear of perfection. Thank you for sharing your insight with us.

Great video! So glad I saw it today as I had been thinking about this question (how to transform good thoughts into good actions) for some time. Very inspiring!

    Thank goodness in Switzerland
we have no landfill. We have
clean air. We also have a great
    extensive public network that
functions to almost or on the
    minute. Glad I live here.

Great video - I'm so bad at saying "yup! I'll do it!" When at work but then find all the excuses in the world to not do it. Love the 5 Truths idea!

I hear ya, it's not always easy to make all of this come together-but start small and crush 'em!

I'd love to hear how you implement them!

There have been so many examples recently, but one that comes to mind is related to exercise. I had fallen out of the practice of doing pushups. But after watching one of your videos (not this one, but another where you talked about small goals) I was able to tell myself not to worry about a comprehensive routine but to focus on what I can do at any given time. So lately when the thought comes to mind I tell myself I can do one small set of pushups. And then afterward I make sure to consciously note the achievement. I think simply doing one set and then acknowledging it makes me feel good about having done them, so it prompts me to think about doing them more often. Now I've gotten up to multiple sets on certain days where I was doing none before. The other examples have to do with the way I deal with my material possessions, the way I approach food preparation and other daily life goals.
Also, a note about minimalism. I have found the principles that often come under the banner of minimalism to be very helpful in my daily life. In shedding a vast amount of my possessions I've had a chanceto relocate and reclaim important aspects of my personality. I've been able to see many of my possessions go to those who live near and around me, my friends and neighbors. This means more to me than simply taking them to a thrift store, although I do that quite a bit. I've been averaging about 2-3 weekly trips to the thrift store. For me minimalism isn't about measuring my possessions numerically as much as it is about becoming more aware of what it useful and meaningful to my life and truly treasuring those things. Having many or few possessions isn't the heart of minimalism to me. For me it's about engagement with life and about things being meaningful to an engaged life. Right now I'm living my life based on this quote by William Morris:
"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."
Lastly, since the things that are useful or meaningful to me take on their own special luster its important for me to have a special 'home' for them within my larger home. By continually engaging things and knowing their various homes within my home, I continually invest in them. They cease to be mere objects bought in random stores. They take on a psychic weight that feels like home. And I believe when these kind of things eventually are passed on to others, that good psychic weight goes with them. You can be in a room full of such objects and feel the investment in them. On the flip side, you can be in a room full of store bought mayhem and feel lonely, alienated or depressed.

Living in Germany wich is a really rich and luxorious country to live in (with it's own exceptions as well) it's rather hard to be mindful. Glad I always come across such videos to motivate me :)
