I have had a RT81 for the last 3 years & am planning on moving up to the RT85 this year / Is there another turntable brand I should consider in the $500 range?
Please answer! I’ve been looking to do some vinyl videos and wondered how you got your record player to go extra slow for the montages, like in your reasons to collect vinyl short.
@@AshRecordReview Hey! Actually I just filmed the record player in 60 fps and slowed the footage down in editing. So it's not actually spinning that slow in real life haha. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the summary. Only suggestion is that , given the RT 82 is currently listed for the same price, a comparison would have realy been valuable .
I was honestly expecting this turntable to cost somwhere around $500 because of all the neat features it has, so it was surprised to see that it only cost $299! I'll definitely consider upgrading to this when I have the money! 👍
I have the Audio Technica, Lp-120x USB, I chose it years ago from watching your videos, and it's still working great. By the way, I don't want to buy another turntable lol
@@vinyleyezz Yep, the turntable is still working great, I probably don't have as many records, I have over 250, mostly Classic Rock from the 60 70 and '80s
Would you recommend the alp-120x usb I’ve been hearing a lot of different reviews on it I’m trying to find my starter turntable, I’m rather choosing between this and fluance
LP60XBT owner here. 3 years old now, working great. Fulfilled it's promise by upgrading the conical stylus with LP Gear's elliptical, specially made for turntables like this which is something people like Jarrett and Paul Rigby recommend. This Fluance is beautiful, it's got to be said. I think this is Jarrett's upgraded turntable after his built like a tank LP120. Thanks for the Christmas recommendations Jarrett, I see the LP60X and this Fluance always make your list, and for good reason.
I'me really digging the blue acrylic mat I replaced the felt with on my LP60X. I find there to be more clarity in sound. Bass, midrange and high frequencies all seem just that bit more pronounced and cleaner with the acrylic. Of course, this Fluance is a step above, but a lot of decent starter turntables always have a bit more capacity for making replacements to optimise performance, and the 60X is definitely one of them.
I see in the background that you have "The Worst of Jefferson Airplane" and "The Best of Sade" on the wall. I also have them both on vinyl. Great albums! P.S. Your videos made setting up my Audio-Technica 120 so easy. Thank you.
I just purchased the RT81. Not the +. Also I needed decent shelf speakers so picked up those as well. Although this is a lower model, I really have enjoyed it so far. It did not come with all those bells and whistles as the one here does. I’ve been having some issues with the tracking properly on certain albums. I did not know about aligning the needle cartridge so I will be on top of that today.
Had my eye on one of these for a while but I'm just not a fan of belt drive. Too fussy, and I don't think it gives that much of an advantage over a proper direct drive when you take into account maintenance for the belt and such. Although, I do like that Fluance doesn't require you to reposition the belt to change speeds. I like that swanky acrylic platter on the 85, too. Basically it comes down to the cart, and that's what you're really paying for with the Fluance -- the VM95E with headshell is 100 dollars by itself so that should give a good idea of what you're getting. I had to take my 45 year-old Technics SL-1300 offline for some maintenance and upgrades and I chose the Audio-Technica AT-LP5X to replace it as my daily driver. A great deck and now I have something that will do easy vinyl rips if I want to.
I have to ask, and no, this is not intended to be a negative comment in any way.... within the 1st minute, you showed the head shell with worn out screw heads. Is this how it came, or a product of adjustment prior to posting this video? Cheers and thanks for the upload. I'm looking into this record player based on what I have heard about it... Edit: called the head shell "the cartridge" by accident..
Please do a video just on the earth cable and options available to earth the turntable. I use a vintage amplifier which does have an earth terminal i can screw my cable into, unfortunately my modern audio technica LP120XUSB turntable cable has one of those 2 fork spade type connectors which is not compatible with the earth terminal on the back of my vintage amp. I have tried to connect it anyway but it doesn't work. I think the earth stopped working on this amp years ago. My work around is to occasionally touch the earth terminal to pipe work in my home or the screw holding the power face plate to the wall to cancel the buzz. If i leave the earth cable connected the buzz builds and builds. So i leave it disconnected until it starts to buzz which may take a few days, tap the terminal once or twice on a pipe or the face plate screw, and it cancels the buzz I know this sounds ridiculous, im 55 and have always had a turntable all my life, but this crazy method does work, however I'd like a permanent less fussy solution.
I like them all but I noticed something about this one here they cheeped out on the cables! When I got my RT-82 They gave ne heavy duty ones! Hmm! Did you notice this V-Eyezz?
Please help, my setup is not giving me any sound from my Fluance RT 83. I also have a separate preamp and a Denon AVR 683 that has no phono input. Thanks Paul
Hey Paul! Got your messages, thank you for your patience. You said you have the following setup: Fluance RT83, a Moukey Amp, and a Denon AVR 683 Receiver. The reason you're not hearing any sound coming out of your Denon receiver, is because there is no preamp in your setup. From what I've found online, The Moukey is a Stereo 2 Channel Amplifier, not a Preamp. So basically, you have 2 amps and no preamp in the setup. Also the Fluance RT83 doesn't come with a built-in preamp either, unless you buy one from them separately. So if you just swap the Moukey Amp, with a Simple Fluance PA10 Preamp, and then connect it to the LINE INPUT on your Denon Receiver, you'll be good to go! After that you'll hear the music loud and clear! Good luck!
I have a separate headphone amplifier that is also then connected to an RCA splitter that is also connected to my powered speakers. Both of those outputs are connected by the splitter and then the splitter goes to the turntable via RCA as well. Hope that helps!
No auto-return... And it's really better. No chances of breaking. And you have to consider the features vs the price of the Fluance turntables. No better choice. I have the RT85N, and I am very satisfied.
@@christianlaroche8268 thank you for the response. It is a nice turntable. I was asking this question for my friend. I just bought an AT120 last week and it doesn’t have auto stop or return. We talked about this one, but auto return is a big thing for him as he’s not always near his turntable when it gets to the runout.
