Why race in Turkey, boring truck, lack of spectators, nobody showed up to watch to say ? This is what we wanted, this is what we dreamed of three decades ago four decades ago when I first set foot on a motocross track. We wanted our sport to be legitimized, we didn't want to be known as reckless daredevils We want people to see the athleticism of what we do. We wanted to be like Formula 1. Now guess what.. . Motocross regularly fills up stadiums where athletes making millions and millions of dollars can't and don't and won't. This race shows you what it's like when the organizing bodies rather than the people and the riders have control. The races they're getting paid no matter what because now because of Giuseppe Longo or Youth stream and all these other guys, you can't enter a Grand Prix unless you're coming with a crap ton of money and or sponsorship and teams and all this other stuff . We've gotten exactly what we wanted, we're just like Formula 1 where a bunch of rich people have sway over what was basically a grassroots middle class sport.😢 You think Harry Everts came from money, he didn't. He was well off by the time his son Stefan Everts came around and Stefan is even more well-off now than Harry. Liam Everts is the generation that benefits from wealth. But what's going on is the governing bodies of Turkey or the government itself is able to throw tons of cash towards youth stream or dorna or whoever is managing the the motocross Grand Prix right now and that is why there's a Grand Prix in Turkey. Everybody that needed to get paid got paid, I don't even know how the promoter of the track made money because it didn't seem like there was a lot of spectators there to me, but I don't know the behind the scenes stuff. I'm just an ex amateur racer and former professional journalist. I'm on the outside looking in on a sport that I dedicated most of my life to, left body parts on race tracks, but made friendships that were to last a lifetime and awesome memories to go with it . Motocross is not always just about the winning or the spectator profile, it's about the people, it's about you it's about me, it's about the guys who ride and busted their ass did their best but could never quite be good enough to turn pro. These Pro guys are the tip of the spear, the shaft of the spear is the rest of us writers and racers and spectators and fans.

Scrub MXGP Turkqei off the calendar in 2025 .. it is embarrassing to watch our sport ignored. Clearly there is no public interest for motocross in Turkqei .. nor has been past 4 years so cannot fail to lose money every year for race promoters. We know it only takes one bad washout of a non event anywhere else to return a financial loss. Other ambitious, interested countries may benefit from hosting a MXGP in future.
Wow it is nice to see all 14 fans showed up to show their support.
looked they held the race at the airport.
All the last place finishers were Turks too.
Insane we are still going to these countries for GPs

Another flat field with jumps 🤨🤨 someone please give these guys real mx tracks to race on
Herlings just blew his last chance to get close to the leaders

@thomaswayneward probably, but it was tough to 👀 him loosing his last chance to win this year. 🥲
