Yay! My son bought me a metal detector, but I have misplaced the instructions for it, and I have searched the internet for them, but I have never been able to find them. I also need to get me one of those handy dandy hand thingy that you have, so that when I do figure out how to use it, I won't have to go through the dirt by touch alone.
If you can tell me the name and model, I can probably find a link for the instructions for you.

Led me to ALOT of history about the property... Even met people related to the original property owners before this place was built

I have an oooold Whites metal detector. Haven't used it in years. Oddly enough, I was thinking just the other day that it would be a good hobby to pick back up.

I have the Minelab Etrac and the whites mxt. I find myself picking up the mxt more often. I like adjusting on the fly with the mxt. The Etrac is a very good detector. Both compliment each other as both have their purpose.

I just got my first detector in Nov, I’m a 60 yr woman and can’t wait to see what I can find. I’m sitting on the Mo Ks line.
I bought my husband a Whites for Christmas several years ago. He has barely used it. After watching you I might just start doing it myself. 😁
There ya go. Practice a little bit with it in the yard over different coins or a ring to get familiar with it and then head to the park or baseball field.

A great hobby to have. The ground still has all kinds of treasures buried when people didn’t trust banks and buried during the civil war. Never know what’s in the next shovel full. Glad to ride along with you. Take care

My Dad had a machine like that he loved to dirt Fish. Mom and Dad would go to all over the place and dig but he hated to fill the wholes back in 😂.. He found all kinds of stuff..
Howdy Ken! I do metal detection here in Utah and have found unbelievable items going all the way back to the LDS pioneers being forced to flee out here and settle the State. Hell, I was born at Fort Belvoir, VA in 66. Funny where lfe takes us. All over the world in the Army, but I can't live without my Rocky Mountains.✌👣👣👣

Yeah, I wanted to do some of these long ago but it was quite literally a pain in the hand trying to juggle the equipment.

There’s all kinds of decent used machines online. Might be an option to start with and see if you enjoy it before investing in something more expensive 🤔🤔🤔👍👍👍
Nice I've always wanted one of those thing of ma jiggers lol people has really found some really good stuff worth alot of money. I love watching oak island and that guy Gary he gets so excited when his goes off . He gets alot of stuff from the 1700-1800s I know a few guys that do alot of magnet fishing and they do pretty good doing that as well I got me a big magnet and I'm going to try it out here in the spring.well ken & Ratchal I really do appreciate you bringing me along with you on this video it was a great change of pace a good one so stay safe and God bless you and your family 🙏

KEN I soooooo needed this !!!!!! something stress free, relaxing and easy;];];] I LOVE WATCHING DETECTING CHANNELS;];]; ] being in maine we dont have a long season to hunt in...i have 2 detectors. but im limited on kneeing due to screws in my knee..but if i could find someone to get down and pull it out , im game on;];] i only have a whites coin master maroon color.. and a tesro, same ability as the coin master...its a nice change thank you ;];];] love to see more and any tips on your machine;];];];] glad your doing ok with your hand .. i dont know if this would work for you, but maybe meat tenderizer might speed the process of getting the frag out of your hand. my mom would use it on splinters, bee stings etc...it works;];];] just make a paste with water and bandage it up over nite when your not using it;];];] i used to wear potato digging gloves , they were a soft cotton black/brownish material..and stayed on your hand without stretching ..perfect for like putting vasaline on your dry chracked hands overnite to soften them up;];];] hope this helps;];];] have a great wk;];];]

As a kid we would use a small piece of salty bacon fat under a bandage to draw stuff out.
Worked amazingly well. Same principle as the salty meat tenderizer I guess.

With the popularity of detecting in the past 20 years, it's hard to find a good location that isn't private or well gone over. But it is still entertaining to search around hoping for a piece of history or a careless persons' misfortune. I really enjoy it as a good way to spend an afternoon. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.
Yeah, it just really depends on the area. Around here there’s many many abandoned places that have been taken over by banks or local gov for taxes that are easy enough to get a permission for. Parks are always constantly hammered, but people visit them every day and potentially drop new things to find 👍👍👍👍

That one is one I got separately, made by Garrett. There’s a few different ones available by other makers.
Some machines will come as a bundle with the pinpointer , digging tool, pouch and sometimes headphones in the kit.

A lot of times you can get a really decent used one on FB marketplace for a bargain.
There’s so many different models and brands available that it would be hard to advise you to which one for the price range.
Best thing to do is see what’s listed and research the model for details about its ability.

I am a MXT owner too. Great machine. Fun dig. I know this vid is a few years old but you might have done better if you worked your discriminator a little better. I recommend you learn how to responsibly dig holes. I was cringing a bit watching you dig those plugs clean out of the sod. Digging a plug completely out of the ground is not good and I am sure they won't appreciate all of the dead spots in their field because you didn't leave a flap attached to the plug. ;)
Letting the tumbler run overnight probably cost more now than the coins are worth!
