The Best All Around Dog Coat? Hurtta Summit Parka Review

In this review, I do in-depth and hands-on with the Hurtta Summit Parka Dog Coat / Dog Jacket. Overall, I am impressed by the quality, construction, range of adjustments and flexibility in the conditions it can be used in. Whether you want a coat to warm up your dog, keep them warm, protect them from light rain, wind or chilly breezy days the Summit Parka has you covered.
It comes in 4 colors including a high visibility orange. All come with 3M reflectors helping to add further visibility in low light/nighttime conditions. More importantly, it is an insulated jacket that makes a big difference in keeping your dog warm even on colder nights. I found that whether the temperature was in the 50’s,40’s or even 30’s this coat will keep your dogs’ temperature comfortable for walks and general outings.
Its construction of polyester and has a polyester fill/lining. It has 4 different points of adjustment which along with 13 different sizes help to ensure you can find a fit and adjustment that works for your dog. For those wondering about how it holds up with rain/water it does great and for light rain, or moderate wet environments your dog will stay dry across any areas the coat covers your dog.
Keep in mind though Hurtta offers a rain line with fully taped seams and more extensive leg and head coverage for very wet/rainy environments.

My wife and I have one of these for our dog, who is pretty athletic. It's one of the best coats out there if not the best in my opinion, (other Hurtta jackets are the exception). Our dog runs through ramble and bushes chasing after squirrels, almost every day, so her coat is pretty beat up. It does have some rips in the outer shell that we are having someone local patch up for us. The reflector stripe peeled off on ours after just a few months. It definitely is not rainproof. Water-resistant yes, but not for a steady rain after some time it will get wet. So far after a year, it's still hanging in there. Highly recommend it.

Thanks for your follow up review. I very much agree as an all around option and with out getting to much more insulated coat/jacket I think for many dog owners it is the best option. What size did you get him?

Medium is what fit him best, large works but was too bulky. As you can see in the video there are many points of adjustment but I feel overall it runs a bit large.

He looks about the same size as my dog and was trying to decide to get her a 22in or a 24in.
