  • Pavel Bure is one of the best and most exciting hockey players in NHL history. The Russian native led the league in goals in three of his seasons and score 60 goals in back to back years with the Vancouver Canucks back in 1992-93 and 1993-94. Although his career was relatively short and just over 700 games he made the most of his time playing hockey and was an amazing player to watch. His insane speed and skill made him a guy who I believe was ahead of his time.

He actually wouldn't be as dominant because now everyone can skate, shoot and puck handle like him so the gap has been squashed.. .Evolution! But i'm not saying he wouldn't be an all-star but he wouldn't be "ahead of his time" and so much faster and better than other goal scorers- back then- when compared to modern NHL super stars... Unless you're really telling me he can outskate and puck handle Mcdavid and shoot better than Bedard...

@@v4v819 Yes, this super league where Joe Pavelski had a season a couple of years ago as a 38 year old where he put up a point per game. And he put up 77 points as 39 year old. Yes, Joe Pavelski who is slow as molasses, and isn't a world class stick handler scored 81 points in 82 games.
Steven Stamkos as a 34 year old just put up 40 goals and 81 points in 79 games.
Jaromir Jagr as a 43 year old put up 66 points in 79 games in 2015-2016.
Sidney Crosby as a 36 year old just put up 94 points in 82 games. He put 93 points in 82 games as 35 year old.
This league is great right now. But there's no need to try put down the people from the past just to make yourselves feel better about what this current generation is doing. Stop with the nonsense.
We're talking a Pavel Bure in his prime. With no one hooking or surfing on him all the way up the ice. With no red line. And with the same equipment they use nowadays. With way more of a killer instinct about scoring goals than most of the league now. He would be at least just as good if not better.

Who could stick handle in a phone booth then and now, who could out skate most of the league then and now, all while doing it a top speed. Who had one of the most intense goal scoring killer instincts then, now it wouldn't even be close. Who would have access to the same equipment these guys use. Would at least be as good as ever, and probably better.

@@lookinforthe70s You really would put your Bure scoring more than McDavid or Ovechkin? For pure goal scoring prowess- all he had- i'd take a prime Stamkos over Prime Bure... You're high, bruhhh!!!

He also played with the RED LINE !!!! That's MASSIVE !!!!! 60 goals in a slash and grab hockey with a RED LINE !!!!! That's where todays nhl is trying to fudge numbers ... put that red line back in and watch most have a hard time hitting 40 .

Not to mention 3 on 3 overtimes. You can't even compare today's game and it's "stars" to 80s and 90s hockey. Today's players play on easy mode.

Connor can not even hold Bure’s jock strap . McDavid is not as impressive because he can’t move at Mach 3 speeds while simultaneously pulling off insane puck handling moves when moving at Mach 3 speeds. A lot of players are fast - without the puck - then they get the puck and are forced to slow to still handle effectively but Bure was in a league of his own as he did NOT have to do that . Bure was unique in that his puck handling ability didn’t change a bit when shifting gears to missile speed. Not one smidge. He was also unique in the way he could shift from lower gear to higher gear with very few strides unlike many of the so-called fast players of today like McDavid. Lastly apart from one stand out season goal wise from McDavid well beyond that he is not the same goal scorer ( average goals per game ) that Pavel was. Not in the least. The majority of McDavids points come from assists and to me that is not as impressive as someone like Bure who consistently put up 60 goal seasons and 50 goal seasons ( mostly by his own will alone ) while playing on a bum knee and through concussions in a vastly more physical era . Bure also protected himself like no other goal scorer before him . Man was straight up nasty if you ever dared cheap shot him. Ask Shane Chura during the 94 playoffs.
Bure was one of a kind and very rare ( we may never see another like him ever again ). His skating stride , power , grace , explosive and agility alone are still unmatched ( to be completely accurate ) and in no way can McDavid be compared to him . That’s an insult.

Not as fast not as good... He one dimensional but among the best goal scorers of his era! Could fly out there but modern players have squashed the gap that he had with his era's competitors because of his Russian training which they all get now...
