Nyũmba ya mwatĩ witũ igitĩtwo na ithanĩjĩ ( not icango - brass) na icũthi cia ng'ombe. Ttranslated- my sister's house is thatched with papyrus reeds and the whisk of a cow. Those olden days the mũgĩkũyũ house was thatched with rũthiru, then grass and the walls were mud masked with a smooth finish of ash mixed with cow-dung. The huts were circular in shape with a stick protruding at the top like a lightning arrestor.
