    I'm trying to write my first short film and I'm taking a lot of inspiration from Tarantino and his very smart dialogue scenes. This was a huge help in realizing where my characters are and what kind of mood they are in- informal vs. formal. Very interesting and well put-together

    Kind of off the topic here but as we are talking about Tarantino I would like to say something of that little scene at 8:50 with Hans Landa that is one of the greatest actors on this Tarantino's universe and one of my personal favorite characters in his movies.
    At that scene were he is talking with Aldo and Diane Kruger's character he already know that she is a traitress and he knows that the three ''italians'' are plotting with her. When he is constantly asking the name of the ''italians'' he actually is just testing how good they are with the language of each of them. With Aldo he asks several times and realize that he speaks Italian as well as Donny, but with Omar he only question twice, because he notes that Omar knows shit about Italian.
    It's so subtle and makes such a good comic scene.

    Very nicely done Darren. I really liked your observation of the Reservoir Dogs breakfast scene and how it foreshadowed to the scenes in the garage. Also do you think it was a coincidence that Mr. Pink was the only one who didn't want to tip the waitress and was the only one who survived at the end. Maybe showing Pink not tipping showed the audience that he was suspect of everyone and everything around him and he was the first guy to realize that someone was a rat.

    • @_MUSTSEEFILMS_
      @_MUSTSEEFILMS_  9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Sean McDougall Yeah love that point about Pink, its also funny how pink was the cheapest at the lunch but SPOILERS, but he was the only one to get away with the money.

    • @jonwlls
      @jonwlls 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aren't there police outside the warehouse at the end? I always thought that Mr. Pink was either shot dead or arrested by them.

    • @_MUSTSEEFILMS_
      @_MUSTSEEFILMS_  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im not sure, i always assumed he got away, its kinda open at the end for his character, i guess it depends if you think that police are already there or arriving on scene in the last moments!

    • @jonwlls
      @jonwlls 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just watched the end scene again and you can hear the police (after Mr. pink leaves the warehouse) saying stuff like "get down on the ground" in the background.

    Amazing video! The lead up and draw out of anticipation until the action or even non-action is a classic move. It works in all and any genre. I really like how you put a spotlight on that Jackie Brown scene with the split screen. That Depalma-esque scene worked well in Kill Bill too but this one was better. Talk about suspense!

    Good man, that was great. I read the script of pulp fiction yesterday and noted the "let's get into character" line especially since there talk of Honey Bunnie and Pumpkin taking on there stick up personas in the set directions. I was even thinking of maybe doing a video essay about it but there's no need now :)

      @_MUSTSEEFILMS_  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does it make more sense to think of dramatic dialogue as ANY time characters interact with each other? Even in "low stakes" situations, I imagine all people put on masks, and the only time we're truly "informal" is when we're by ourselves.
