Great story, great animation, great character design(the main character's VA is Tsukki’s VA, which is of course very good), and great music.

😑😔The only shame that you both didn't watch naruto/naruto shipuuden ...i am 30 yo now and still enjoy this best show on my opinion ... i understand why you not watching it till now or part if the reason ... may because it long anime and take a time to know how great and series and awsome it is ... beside it has best soundtracks on fiction in my opinion ofcaurse and best in the world on drama ... i know may i sound a little bit childish on my words but i had to say this😅 ... keep the good work 👏
RIP Dubu. It's unfortunate that he couldn't live long enough to see his artwork animated. He's what got me into reading manhwa's and to me, the way he did his panelling in webcomics is second to none. It's like the art was moving as you scrolled the page.
The alternative title to the show is "I alone level up" or "Only I level up". Solo Leveling is what stuck since it sounds cooler and rolls off the tongue better. Also the author was heavily inspired by HunterXHunter lol.

This is not a spoiler or anything, but the first episode already established that there's no such thing as leveling up nor the concept of going stronger by exerting efforts, which btw contradicts the title.
Also, Sung Drip Woo might be the weakest Hunter there is, he is still slightly stronger than your average person. And I think as an awakened person, dungeon raids pays more than taking average jobs, it's just that, better magic equipments and weapons are way expensive.
All in all, I'm glad that you reacted to this anime early, good luck and enjoy the show 🎉.

Ya it really felt like they only did half of what they needed to do here. As someone who hasn't read the manhwa this honestly came off pretty generic and unsatisfying, might have dropped it if I hadn't heard such great things from manhwa readers
For those who don't know, that extra scene that happened in the beginning of the anime, that wasn't in the manhwa, it was actually in the Korean light novel of solo leveling, so it's safe to say A1 PICTURES will be adapting the solo leveling Korean light novel and sticking to the manhwa artsyle at the same time
As long as they get that smile right, that's all that matters.

I don’t know if you missed it but hunters can’t usually rank up, so the rank you are given is the rank you stay at. So there is no “potential to go up” for Sung or as far as his aware. I always assumed that he was paid just enough help to his mother, sister and himself but it was only barely paid enough however he wouldn’t be paid enough if he had a normal job, but that’s just my assumption.
He was paid well. The problem is Sung uses all his money for the bills, food, sister, and mom's hospital bills. His mom goes through special mana treatment which is very expensive to keep her alive. Basically its like $4k a dungeon with bills and everything around $3k then he buys these special made weapons which average around $500 or more for the weakest equipment. He has money saved up, but it's not much. This is why he continues to dungeon dive.

one thing to remember is that once your rank is determined and set, you cannot grow stronger and raise your rank. also, the low level hunters are wearing normal clothes bec armor and weapons are expensive
yeah i see a lot of reactors wondering why Sung isn't getting stronger and still dying lol
@@Ebyruchan and people not playing close enough attention. it litterally been said in the animation that it determined rank and cant go past that. but yeah sometimes you miss those
but the anime calls solo leveling, so its must be a way to leveling up ;)

The visuals in the Manhwa were already amazing, if they can keep that level and add good animation and music to it this will slap real hard.

As someone who read both the webnovel and manhwa wayback , I can absolutely guarantee you one hell of a ride , if animated correctly solo leveling is guaranteed to be the next big thing and by seeing the first episode after wishing for an anime adaptation for years now i am very satisfied with the results ❤, i cant wait to see all the boss fights animated .

Just tried this anime yesterday, and while I am not fully into the writing yet I have been hooked by the premise and some particular scenes.
so glad you guys took this up early. this series is true to what it is and done the right way, also made this genre of popular. not the most extravagant of plots but can only hope the animation delivers throughout cus we got one the coolest husbando mcs
i dont know if this is a spoiler but the intro scene takes place further into the story and HOPEFULLY this season finishes at the end of that arc atleast
@@chicopatata33 no that's the FIRST RAID to jiju island ( not the one that was shown later in the manhwa, they added those scenes in the beginning because that's ACTUALLY how the LIGHT NOVEL starts)

I am super excited about this anime! I started reading this manhwa around the time that it was starting to be published online, around 2016//2017. Since then, this type of story has been the inspiration to many manhwas. The artstyle is gorgeous in print, I can't wait to see it animated.

My all time favorite action manhwa. This is the webtoon which introduced me to the world of manhwas, webtoons, mangas, manhuas. At first I watched anime only then came Solo Leveling. Now I am fan of webtoons and mangas.
Essence stones are collected from the beasts directly, mana crystals are a different thing like an ore to be mined. Lot of resources in these gates.

The fact that I can hear Fukasaku (the elder frog from Naruto) in this anime just made me tear up. His voice is easily recognized with that "-chan".
You all gotta remember. To them, this is a D-Rank dungeon, and they have a sizeable party. And it seems like they have been on plenty of raids. To them, this is just a walk in the park including the boss.
The first Isekai anime you guys started watching was Re:Zero, but the way this one starts out is closer to the basic premise and outline of the video game themed Isekai genre, even though it's reversed and the monsters and such come to the known world. I have not read the manhwa, but the introduction to this world and story appropriately reminds you of video games because that's how MMORPG games work. There are ranks and classes (like healer or mage) monsters, dungeons and raids, weapons and gear, mana and magic, etc. The apparent twist in this story is that you cannot level up to go up in ranks as the narrator lets us know, which will be interesting to see how it unfolds given the paradox of the world setting being centered around an MMORPG style game which always comes with leveling and ranking up.

People hyped the Manhwa hard and I figured I'd give it a try as my first ever manga/manhwa.
It bangs, hard.
If they do this show right, this one is gonna be up there with greats.
They did explain that once the rank is determined it can't be changed so it's best to assume for almost all the people other than the MC ofcourse
when the portals started appearing monsters started coming out. but along with the monsters magic or mana also got through which got absorbed by humans which turns them into hunters. when awakened as a hunter no matter how much you train you won't get stronger. that's where the tittle comes from.

I read the manga a long time ago online then i liked it so much that i bought the english translations. I am definitely hyped up for it
This is a power fantasy manhwa. It's almost similar to One punch man where the main character is always stronger than his current contenders. Yes it is actually generic setting but what sets it apart from other of the similar genre is you get to experience every steps that the MC did to be powerful. It is very well paced and tho you already know that he will body his enemy it doesn't take away the satisfaction.
I read it 2 or 3 times already and I'm really excited for this show. The studio did a great job using a future story line to explain the world. This will make the story more cohesive. I'm talking about the "ants", yes they happend 3 years in the past but it will have significance in the future.
Finally, I was waiting for your reaction to it! I am as excited as you bc I don't read mangas and I heard a lot of good things about it bc of the trailers so, this is gonna be a good journey with you for sure!! and yes the music producer is the same as AoT Hiroyuki Sawano the genius! I loved the music in ep 1 a lot!!
Maybe because of the Animation Studio “A-1 Pictures”, this anime gives me the vibe of Sword Art Online + Hunter + Mushoku Tensei.

I have read solo levelling 5 or 6 times. And each and every time I get hype lol😂😂😂😂. I know what's voming still I get hype . That's how cool the manhwa is❤
I do like how Jung is treated at the start. So many shows will have the weakest person insulted, or bullied, but I don't really see that here. They see him as another guy, they know he's weak, and understand that but they don't treat that as a personality flaw. Even the talking about the "weakest hunter" was more of a statement of fact, rather than some cruel banter.
Sung is pronounced closer to the second way you said it, Ange (in between suhng and song, rather than soong). also korean names are almost always 3 syllables, so our mc Sung Jinwoo has the last name sung and first name jinwoo. same for Cha Hae-in, Hae-in is her first name :)

The show's music is by hiroyuki sawano, one of AOT's musicians. The music in the final scene did have a dark AOT vibe... I hope we'll get some epic soundtracks in the coming episodes

one of the MOST action packed manhwas i’ve read and i’ve read quite a lot, altho most of the manhwas i’ve read are romance and comedy, this out of maybe 4 or 5 other action focused manhwas i’ve read that got me into reading more action packed manhwas. the fights are one of the best i’ve seen it’s literally crazy!!! you guys would love this series!!
The one thing i will say is altho the overall plot and the way the manhwa concluded in my opinion wasn’t the best the action makes up for it, thats why i kept reading as well as some of the characters in the manhwa ( 🐜 🐄 🗡️ if you know you know) helped me to stay invested.
I remember the first time I read this, the sensation convinced me that the story would be interesting, I didn't expect to enjoy the sensation again when I watched this ☕
