Great video again! I limited out everyday up to camp in maine last week. We are only allowed 4 birds a day and we got a lot of rain this spring so a lot of the birds didn't make it. Almost time to get the rifle out for deer here. I've been bow hunting amd passed on a few small bucks so far.
We had a extremely hot and dry spring in BC so a lot of birds were hatched and it's been a great year for grouse. Our season goes till mid November so ill be out getting a few more birds yet.
Only my second year hunting upland birds and I have always just stepped on their wings and pulled. I'll have to try your way next time, if I manage to find another before the snow sets in too deep. Ruffies are pretty uncommon out here on the prairies but I've been getting quite a few Sharptail this year. Just cooked some breasts (sharptail) last night and it was the best I have had yet. Super simple. Just oil and butter, medium high and baste 2 minutes each side until medium-medium rare. Added a bit of rosemary for a touch of flavor but it was great. Really hoping to get a rabbit at some point but I haven't seen one in the daylight for a few years now.
That's awesome. Sounds like you're having a pretty good time. Rabbits can be tricky to get. You don't see them much during the day. Lots come out right at the fringe of legal shooting light.
Hey, I now hunt chickens with my 17HMR but I have to say my Winchester.22, model 1890 is wickedly accurate and smooth, only downfall is it’s tubular feed (I prefer bolt, mag feed) thanks as always brother and good shooting as well lol - cheers
Love your grouse videos. Started hunting with a 20 gauge this year but I still bring my 22 when I go hunting with my sons because of the noise. Right now I'm still getting used to the 20 gauge, missing a lot more shots then I should. Really scared of pellets in the breast so I tend to often aim too high.
GTFOH, hitting grouse off a flush is as difficult as hunting gets. Especially when it's unexpected and not over a pointer. I think water swatting ducks is stooping as low as you can get while still following the law book. targeting pheasants off the ground is equally sad. So to my point, shooting a sitting grouse with a 22 is a crack shot when compared to on the wing.
Funny thing I've learned looking into this a bit, up here in Canada hunting grouse with .22's seems to be long standing tradition and not strange at all. I recently read Frank Woolner's book on grouse hunting from 1970 where he described fellows in British Columbia shooting grouse out of trees with .22's. Also, here in Sask. it's written right into hunting regulations, you're only supposed to use shotguns and .22's when it comes to cased ammunition to hunt grouse here. I think the idea of only wing shooting with shotguns being sporting is more of a Northern US tradition than it ever was here.
@@BuickOutdoors leupold** that’s awesome. I use the centerfire version of that scope on both my tikka 30-06 and my muzzleloader. It’s perfect for the woods here in the Adirondacks. Small, lightweight, crystal clear, and deadly accurate. Good choice man.
Would you rather he shoots the 22 up into the air with no known backstop? Use some common sense. He’s eating the birds and not wanton waste. Don’t like it, don’t watch.
I love my cz457 .22 for small game! Awesome little rifles!
Nice job
Excellent. This is exactly how i clean grouse and your the only person ive seen beside myself do it so easy-like. Im also running an CZ 22lr.
love your dogs
love it I will start hunting after long time
nice day hunting, bud!

ol` Deadeye Sheldon! Nice shooting!
Haha they don't stand a chance my friend
Btw. I shoot a stainless CZ455. I use it for PRS but planning on going out with a friend for grouse. Lots in the woods!
@hlam9452 good luck out there! Give 'em one in the ear for me haha
I use a 22mag with a 4x scope and tmj ammo , works a treat 👍
Really like CZs stuff. I was looking at their 20 gauge over under think its the upland ultralight. Looks awesome.
@@collinmc90 I've been really wanting to give one of their shotguns a try. I'm extremely impressed with their 22's.

Man I wish we had more sharptails up here.. highest ruffed counts since 1972 so it should be a good year

I’ve been shooting pheasant all my life with a 12 gauge. I’ve very rarely ever had pellets in the breast, they normally penetrate right through.
On, from or across a roadway?
Its a trail
Wow daily limit of 10. Its 5 per person here.
How many Birds you allowed in the State your Hunting? We're only allowed 4 Birds here in Maine.(Aroostook County)
@@frederickcarr6416 10 per day with a possession limit of 30.
Sorry was so late to watch the video it was a good vid like always
It's no problem at all. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Anybody can hunt birds with a shotgun he's using 22 long rifle so don't hate

Nice video. Is that your property or is it public land?
This is on public land.
Nice rifle! Is that a Leopoldo 2-7X33 scope?
Thanks! Ya, it's the Leupold freedom rimfire 2-7x33. It's a wicked scope.

@andcat7162 ya I have the 3-9x40 on my 30-06. I like it way better then the vx-2 that's on my 300 and it cost like half the price.
Where is this at in bc?
@SkiddlePlays not going to say exactly where but in the Northern area.
@BuickOutdoors it's all good but me and my brother usually go to jameson creek for grouse or deer it's in bc and it's a real nice place
What 22lr ammo do you use/prefer? (Grain/velocity, manufacture)
I use cci blazer mainly. If I don't have any blazers I use federal American eagle.
So, you can't hit them flying so you shoot them on the ground!
I don't like pellets in my meat so I shoot them in the head with a 22. If you don't like it or agree with it, why would you watch it?
@@BuickOutdoors I watched it because I could not believe it was true!
If it’s legal in his state, why be concerned. If he’s breaking the law, pretty stupid to post in on YT.
@@NobleSavage44 Because I know what happened to them in my area, now they are gone. And because I can!
shooting birds on the ground is sad
No its not

Shooting a deer from a deer stand sad too? Am I supposed to let the deer know I’m gunna shoot?
