It may not seem like much to non arma players, but seeing the smoother animations of vaulting over stuff, and ESPECIALLY climbing that ladder, looks like an amazing leap for arma
I love that we finnaly have mount/dismount animation
it makes it feel like dayz which i dont like the movement in
There is a JUMP button!! And it actually works!
Even just getting in the jeep at the beginning looked flawless.
i think they need to improve the run-to-prone animation, (which we should give as feedback) but it's a big improvement
Arma 3 brought so many possibilities and great mods. Excited to see what this game brings!

Those were the days indeed, god damn it's long time ago. Running up to NW airfield for half an hour only to get instantly killed by sniper when getting there!
Bohemia knows the player base is the lifeline of whatever they make and the passion the players show to the devs through the mod community would be IMO the highest level of honor any dev could receive. This reforged looks like the heart of what ARMA4 modded will be like. I can't describe it well, but there's something about ARMA engine that just immerses you in the world. Can't wait to see how this evolves.

@@worldpeace1822 The modding community has to learn new scripting language, modding tools and so on. Therefore the sooner the community gets their hands on the development tools the better it is for Arma 4.
Bohemia is not expecting anyone "to save their game". They are focused on the development of the new engine and core features and honestly it is all looking great. While they still have long way to go, everything I have seen so far makes me really optimistic about Arma 4 - it seems we will finally get rid of the legacy issues and quirks that have plagued the series for two decades.
In my books that is almost as groundbreaking as Operation Flashpoint was back in 1999.

Christ they've got the whole content crew on board with this one. Been playing this series since OFP so quite interested to see how this plays.
That's a nice looking game. The vehicles are some of the best I've seen. For those that don't know, reforger were huge missions where US and NATO troops would do war games in Germany in the 70s and 80s . this was army Corp level training. Entire divisions from the U.S. would deploy to Germany and fight opfor units for around 2 weeks to a month. This map looks like hoenfels in Bavaria, it's a huge training post.
You learn something new everyday. Very interesting. Must've been a blast to be a part of the training exercises.

@@M1GarandMan3005 Can't speak for the 70's and 80's, but it's probably the same then as now. A month of no showers, starving and freezing in the woods shooting blanks all while carrying absurd amounts of weight.

The biggest limit for arma 3 was the multithreading problem. Very excited to see what this new engine can do 🤘
meh CPU still sitting at ~40% utilization while gpu is maxed (5600x, 6800xt)
@@BlastinRope Can argue it all you want with your personal experience... It's a well known issue that Arma 3 failed on the CPU side of the engine.
@@BlastinRope that's good though...? your gpu just isn't strong enough to hit a cpu bottleneck, and probably no gpu is strong enough for that

Honestly can't wait for some more news regarding Arma 4, been waiting for so long. Absolutely love the way modders can shape arma games into pretty much anything, it's just the most replayable game out there, content wise.
Never had the chance to play Arma 2 or anything earlier than Arma 3, but absolutely love Arma 3.

Hey Jack! Blender is actually a very commonly used 3d design program! Really cool to se them allowing seamless integration for that in the game! Might have to look into it and maybe be a creator for it!

Bohemia are being very smart in understanding that having a strong modding community and catering to them is basically guaranteeing you're gonna have a game with a community for a lot of years, as well as the possibility to profit more from expansions.
They can become for FPS\milsim what bethesda was for RPG games.

I don’t even care for BR anymore. It was way overdone and is stale.
Just realized that with people being able to uniform swap, these road checkpoints will become extremely useful at times in ensuring a convoy of Russians dressed in American gear or vice Vera’s don’t infiltrate your lines
Was pulling ambushes along the main road for like 2 hours as Russians dressed as US and it was glorious
How did u get your colours so crisp? Just tried it out, and even on max settings things feel a bit blurry. Love what Bohemia has done, cant wait for ArmA4
Can't speak for Jack but maybe he's using the GeForce Overlay that you can use in a bunch of games to adjust things like sharpening, colours and more. (:

put game on 4k turn on FSR put resolution to 70-85% if you have a good gpu it will look good and be 60+ fps with all max settings and hardware AA at x2 (no post-processing AA)
if its anything like Arma 2/3, you need to align the two resolution settings.

The game uses the same engine that was implemented into dayz when it became its own game as well as vigor. That is why it may feel very similar.

So much respect just dropping this without 3 years hype.
This is the weirdest exception to the unfinished or beta release for any game I have seen. No hype, no pre-order. Just release into the wild and let your players at it. No gimmicks, just truthfulness of the title and allow for those players full control with tools. Despite this game literally is just a show pony with incredibly flashy graphics and little bit of content, feels good to say I LOVE IT.
And it is great to showcase on the current gen Xbox console. Series X runs this like a dream and the controls are pretty decent. Can't wait for Arma 4.

Im so glad there are still games around with their roots intact, i wish Battlefield would come to their senses. I will definitely check Reforger out, its like a Foxhole but in FPS and I love that.
Thing is, core Arma team has always remained the same. The same cant be said for Battlefield anymore.

this is actually really hype for an Arma game, back to cold war and everything els is just way smoother and better.
I'm excited for Arma 4 after seeing this new engine. Maybe I'll pick this beta up on discount over steam summer sale but I'm excited to try it and envision the future of Arma

Yeah im in vfx and whilst blender is used by some, autodesk programs and houdini are industry standard. Same goes for games afaik but blender is more comon there

I am on series x and I saw this on the store today. As a milsim fan, I can't believe I get to play it. This is gonna be my first Arma game.
Wasteland was so much fun back in the day, I would love to see that game mode make a come back for this engine!

It's actually very cool thinking ALLOT of game types came from Arma, but allot of people don't even know about arma, meanwhile if it wasn't for arma allot of games of today wouldn't even exist

I can't believe they made this also for the Xbox series x/s as well and I'm really enjoying this game it actually runs fine to me, is it perfect no I mean sure control could be better but it a preview so I'm sure by next year it be better . Needed more games like this for us console players and they actually going have mods for us console players too which crazy to even say . Also if you want to try the game out on Xbox if you have a Xbox series x/s you go to Xbox store type Arma then hit search and it should pop up it in preview mode and it's 30 bucks for game and also there a FREE trial to see if like it.

@@Test1ngOneTwo It actually doesn't, it is surprisingly rough. DayZ is a smooth 60 fps on Series X, this game is a mess at the moment.
Arma on the series x is so rough for me. My mates is spot on which is really weird. my monitor seems to hate it. V sync doesn't work with this game for some reason so it's like playing a game at around 30 fps. Bit gutted as I was quite up for trying it.
It seems to be an issue with my monitor specifically or maybe monitors that are 120fps capable.

After seeing how far Arma 3 has come, I’m so excited to see what Arma 4 becomes over time. This is a great start.

DayZ devs made this engine from scratch and has been using it for a couple of years now. This legit has some animations just copy pasted from it too

bring back the Wastelands and Epoch glory days, had so much fun playing those!
I remember as a kid playing OPF was hard AF, had no idea what i was doing but i still loved it.
I hated it - thought it was ugly, frustrating, no fun. I was still playing it twelve years later tho. There was even a Call of Chernobyl mod late on in OPF's lifespan, it was beautiful.
This looks amazing. I have faith Arma 4 will slap. RUNS vastly better than ARMA 3. Holy cow. This engine is a huge step in the right direction. Hopefully 4 comes out in early access in a year or so. Or even in a full release state. Assuming they've been working on this a long while.

This feel REALLY similar to DayZ, as if they took a few assets like animations, foliage etc and glorified it, it looks amazing and I can't wait to see what this game would look like on retail release.
That's because DayZ was originally a mod for ARMA which was then created into a standalone game.

Dayz Standalone runs on the Enfusion engine iirc so they are the same engine

My biggest wish for Arma is improving animations and first person gameplay.
Arma 3 is my first memory of BR, this so nostalgic.

Oh yeah. The Australian Steak and Beer Arma 2 Wasteland server was a riot. Non-stop fun every night.
My friends and I have been having a blast since we never had an arma on console.
Wasteland was so fun on arma 2. Making fobs on hills with tanks and missle launchers and then rolling out to ammo caches. A great break from DayZ which was always tense
I've been a huge fan for Arma for a few years now. My favorite part of Arma was creating Operations for me and my friends to play. I've noticed that Reforger has gotten rid of the ability to make scenarios, which I hope is only temporary and I hope me and my friend are able to experience immersive missions once again. Another thing, Arma Reforger severely dumbed down the controls so that console players can play. I wish they kept that out of PC, however. You can no longer roll, you can't enter 52 different positions, you can't order troops, you can't edit troop code or statuses beyond health. It's very scary and I'm hoping that they are simply showing us the very basics of Arma 4.
It feels like their goal to make it compatible for console will end up running into something similar to Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising issues.
This gamemode kinda looks to me like they took a look at squad and thought "How can we streamline all those features?".
I am really curious to see how it turns out in full matches
This game mode exist in the "arma" series since 19 years...
it was the other way around, squad thought to itself, how can we make arma more "modern, infantry and more accessable (with accessable i mean you dont need to download so many mods or find a group of people to play with first)
It would be a rare thing indeed for the ARMA devs to streamline a feature!
Been playing arma since i was 14-15 im now 22 and im so excited for the next arma.

This is so impressive on their part IMHO. This basically says, "Hey, this is it. Here are the tools. Use it. We're making a game with it. Hope you like it. We're listening."
I'm, unfortunately, barely on PC. I've played a little ARMA, then PUBG and a host of similar BR's.
My big grief with them is they don't have the smooth kinematic modelling of character avatars like Modern Warfare 2019 or Treyarch games. Feeling means everything IMHO. The world textures, etc, are incredible. Even 2017 PUBG on PC has that photorealistic effect like Battlefield 5. I just want smoother feeling models and guns. On PUBG it feels like the aim is snapping awkwardly between controller sectors.
